Coopers Beachfront Suites
Reviewed February 25, 2011

We had a fabulous 5-night stay at Coopers Beachfront Suites. We stayed in the upper suite. On arrival, Janet and George made us feel very welcome. They were available for questions any time we wanted and were very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area. On the other hand, they also valued our privacy and were virtually invisible unless we were seeking them out. The view just can't be beat and we loved hearing the sound of waves during the night. The beach is an easy two-minute walk with no streets to cross, just an easy stroll. The beach is filled with shells, many that are complete and intact. Janet loaned us a book to help identify the shells. The beach is uncrowded and peaceful. Our room had a good sized refrigerator, microwave, and an electric skillet that we used to make breakfast every morning (a real money saver). There are many special touches and thoughtful items in the kitchen and the bathroom. The queen size bed is very comfortable (and we're particular about beds). The shaving mirror in the bathroom was appreciated as well. Wi-fi is supplied at no additional cost.

Truly, this place cannot be beat.

We stayed 2 nites at Coopers Beachfront suite on 8 - 9 Feb 2011. To be honest, the rate was a little out of our range, but Janet graciously reduced it and we gladly accepted it. The suite is akin to a self-contained service apt, but with a seafront view, and ample toilettries supplied. They even placed a reading glass in the suite for those who might have forgotten. My husband enjoyed the free wireless internet svc too.

It was raining on day 2 of our stay and we came back soaked from our golf game at Carrington GC, requesting to use their washer/dryer, and to our pleasand suprise, Janet requested us to pass our laundry to her and she will do it for us. Many tks Janet, your gesture warms our hearts. :)

All in all, a very pleasant stay, with the power outage and rain thrown in. God bless you both...

We were on a tour with a group of vintage Rolls Royce owners and our hotel accommodations had been mixed up. The hotel booked us here at Cooper's Beachfront Suites for the night. We were the lucky ones!! This B & B was the most delightful stay for us during the whole tour! The owners were so friendly and the unit was wonderfully clean, cozy and had all the comforts of home. We hated to leave. Thank you Janet and George for the delightful respite!

We wanted a relaxing and picturesque place to recover from our jet lag and begin our month long holiday in New Zealand. We could not have chosen a better place. Janet and George are excellent hosts and attained the perfect balance between service and privacy. Attention to detail was astounding, stocked fridge, mints by the bed, coffee, jam, toiletries and even had a spare pair of reading glasses! Apartment was spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable. We could have stayed for weeks without feeling cramped. Oh yeah, the view, the view, the view. We were in the upper floor apartment and had an uninstructed view out of all of our windows of the beautiful Coopers Beach and Doubtless Bay.
I could go on and on, but really you should just come see it yourselves.

Coopers Beach itself, and these Suites, are gems hidden in the heart of Northland, New Zealand. Coopers Beach is one of several magnificent beaches close to Mangonui in Doubtless Bay (northern NZ). A 30km drive from Coopers takes you to the far end of the stunningly beautiful Karikari peninsula, meaning all the peninsula's azure beaches are within easy reach too. Cape Reinga, the kauri gumdiggers park (well worth a visit), and the giant sand-dunes (we loved surfing them) are relaxed day or half-day trips. The Suites are extremely well appointed, with great attention to detail, a few seconds' walk from the beach, with the sound of lapping waves and birdsong providing a very special atmosphere. Janet and George - the hosts - have gone out of their way to ensure we have had all we needed for our holiday here. An evening walk on the beach in the twilight, fish and chips either locally or 5 minutes down the road at Mangonui and a swim in the gorgeous bay ... what more could we ask for?

Coopers Beach is a stunning beach, ringed by mature pohutukawa trees. The apartment has direct access to the beach, just a few steps across the lawn. We just couldn't go past the location, and the fact that we could go to sleep to the sound of the sea.
The apartment was extremely comfortable, and had been equipped with everything you could possibly need, right down to reading glasses if you'd left yours at home! And Janet, the host, was lovely. She dropped off a newspaper every morning, and had great advice for things to do (including encouraging us to make the effort to go and see Cape Reinga).
All in all, a fantastic few days' retreat. We'd go back in a flash.

This is the perfect spot for any traveler. Super ocean views with easy beach access with two km of sandy/shell filled beach. The rooms are Clean and comfortable with loads of extras (books/music/and facts about the area). Janet and George are friendly and accomadating hosts. They are teriffic ambassadors for this part of NZ. If you are visiting this area, you should make a special effort to stay here for a night or a week. You will not be disappointed. Your only thought will be when will I return. It is truly special.
