I rarely write reviews, and I'm usually suspicious about gushing reviews, but I am going to gush! This place was fantastic! The accommodation itself was spacious, spotless, well-equipped. The location was superb! Doors opened from both living and bed rooms to the balconies/decks overlooking the water and the beach directly below. (we slept with the doors open all night) Quiet and relaxing, and tres romantic!
We originally chose Coopers Beach because it was about an hour closer to Cape Reinga than Paihia, but that turned out to be a huge blessing, because when we finally got to Paihia, we were pretty disappointed, and glad we had chosen Coopers Beach!
We ate one night at the Coopers Beach Cafe (he kept it open for Margaret, the Beach Lodge's proprietor, and her group, which included us) and it was one of the best meals we had in New Zealand.
Margaret was a kick! We loved her!
On the day we went to Cape Reinga, a pod of dolphins came into the bay at Coopers Beach, and people got to swim out and play with them. We're sorry we missed that, cuz everyone was so excited!
We felt like we had found paradise; wish we could have stayed longer than our 2 nights to take advantage of all the beach Lodge had to offer!
Ok, gush over.More
