“Travel back in time and yet enjoy comfort”

Well,it's a shame I'd traveled all over Europe and missed Tryavna- such a fantastic town in my own country. I fixed this mistake this may and I must say, foreigners visiting Bulgaria should by all means see Tryavna if they want to get the essence of Bulgaria.
And if you're in Tryavna, I can say Kalina hotel is the best option. I don't say it's a perfect hotel, but it's a modern hotel. If you are like me- enjoying history and nature, but not ready to give up the "gifts" of modern life- that's the hotel.

The hotel is on the top of the hill , so it has a great view. Me and my husband visited it in January so there was really nice winter view from the balcony.
The hotel itself for me is more a business hotel as they don't have facilities if you are with child .
Food was good too !

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor with a view of the city

It had been probably some time ago a nice Palace, but today, a big refreshment is needed. The room are cold and heater didn't work properly. The shower was not working properly. Room was clean but the restaurant, the tablecloth was not always and with hole in the middle. Buffet for breakfast was weak.

Great views from the hotel, the rooms were nice, clean & quite big. The breakfast was good, all in all great place however there is no outdoors swimming pool. There is an indoor one and few sunbeds would be brought outside. The restaurant was not great for lunches/dinner however breakfast was good.

I stayed there for 4 nights for a business event. Rooms are big and clean (this is quite new hotel), staff is friendly, although most of them don't speak English at all, location is very nice especially if you get a room with view.
The area is nice, with nice places to visit (a car is mandatory).
Food in the hotel is not great (a common thing for most Bulgarian hotels) but there are nice restaurants in the area which are excellent.

Last weekend I visited Kalina Palace Hotel on a business trip. At first expression the hotel was great - surrounded by mountins. The conference room, lobby, resturant - very nice but when I entered the room I was surprised that four star hotel was with broken bath door. bathroom and wc door could not be closed, missing where to put my shampoo and soap under the shower. Seems it has something before but it was probably broken and it was missing at that time. Also shower cap missing. I was suposed to ask on the reception and after that a lade give it to me. The shampoo was in plastic bag, not easy to open and use twise and definately no place where to put it by the shower.
Free internet access was also missing in the room.
My opinion is that this is absolutely not good for four star hotel, very good looking in such a nice old town. The conditions it the bath should be definately inovated.

Wonderful place surrounded by mountains and woods with a nice view, the perfect place for a good night's sleep. Spacious room, beautiful bathroom. Excellent dinner at the hotel restaurant, good buffet breakfast. Free Interent access in the room. Only negative aspect is the not so friendly man at the reception desk.
