Take the best parts of a beach club, a private dining club, and an after hours club. Put them together, and let people enjoy themselves. That's the idea behind La Caracola. It's an incredible experience. Can't wait to return!

Arrive at this un-marked sandbar retreat along Ruta 10, km 185, by taking a small speed boat across a small body of water. The restaurant/club is well appointed and chairs, umbrellas and tents are set up for each small group. Facing the ocean on the sand, sit in the shade or sun, and enjoy endless drinks and hors d'oeuvres brought throughout the afternoon. Late in the day, there's a delicious dinner (fish, lamb chops, chicken, meat), served buffet style inside. La Caracola only take a few groups per day so you get both the privacy of your own group and the opportunity to mingle with others if you want to (some of the folks our day were kinda obnoxious and pushy so we stayed mostly to ourselves). We had good weather so we appreciated the day-long experience; ours 1PM-8PM.

Very pricey, but a cool experience! Each group has a nice beach area for lounging and a little teepee hut for shade. It was extremely windy the day we were there, which detracted from the experience a bit, so try to go on a still day. From the moment you arrive they serve little gourmet snacks and drinks, and then the lunch buffet later in the day is delicious and plentiful! I especially loved the salt baked fish - it was so tasty and fun to watch them open it up and serve it. You eat and drink A LOT, so in that sense you get your money's worth! The one silver lining of the windy day was that there were hundreds of kite surfers in the water nearby. It was beautiful to watch!

Excellent service, meals and drinks! The place is very nice, tents on the beach, towel service. starts at 2pm with finger food and drinks ( whatever you like )then at 5pm the restaurant with a salad bar, fish and meat, and later a desert table & coffee. Great experience, the ocean there is quite tough.

Another gem from the La Huella people. This all-day excursion isn't cheap, but well worth the money. You take a 2-minute boat ride across a lagoon to a private beach area with a club house for dining. They set up an area for you on the beach with sun, shade, a tent for sleeping out of the sun and tables, towels, pillows and blankets. Then the food and drink starts and doesn't stop until you leave (I think if you want you can stay from 1:30-8pm) - and man is the food delicious. Tapas are served to you on the beach and then lunch is served in the club house (which is open air) with more snacks at sunset. The service is great also - Kelly & Diego waited on us all day and were extremely friendly. A day at La Caracola is a real treat and not to be missed if you're in Jose Ignacio. The only down-side is that the surf in this area can be a bit too rough for swimming, so you have to be happy with just taking a quick wade/dip.

Reservations in advance with pre-payment are a must.
