When you return to a place for the second time, you may looking into things with a more critical eye, especially at corporate level.
However, Estancía José Vic Ignacio is and remains a jewel and truly shines in its glance from a geographical point of view, accommodation-wise, but surely and mostly because great people make every effort to make your stay unforgettable.
We are grateful for another successful event and can't mention often enough how outstanding this place (still) is.
Thank you, Agustin and the whole team - you are our stars!

We had four fabulous nights here in February. If you are a horse rider this is the place to come as it's all-inclusive and you can ride to the level of your skills i.e easy for beginners, a faster pace for those more experienced. Those escorting the trips are hugely professional and feel like your best friend. Recommend the kayaking. We saw an otter. Bird watching fabulous. Don't miss dining at La Huella down in Jose Ignacio to watch the human zoo who congregate there every night - and for the best grilled fish ever. Our visit was slightly spoiled by a loud and unruly family who'd taken over our end of the hotel and woke you up whether you liked it or not. The management is very 'low key' but could be a little more assertive here to ensure that other guests don't dominate. I would imagine that if you are a couple it's better to travel out of the school holidays.

I discovered Estancia Vik whilst riding out in the wilds of Argentina... galloping across the pampas with a family from England they insisted that once I went to Estancia Vik, everything else would pale in to significance. And it did.
With their glowing recommendations and an introduction via email to their now friend and the manager Agustin I flew out the following week to finally find what I had been searching for...
absolute paradise.
The location and the property itself is obviously first class... pure stunning views... interrupted only by the sound of gaucho's rounding up the horses at dawn - or the laughter coming from guests and staff - and this it what makes the estancia so unique.. everybody seems so genuinely happy and relaxed .. nothing was too much trouble for Agustin and his terrific team and as a single woman travelling alone, I felt completely taken care of -
- no words can really describe the experience of riding out for hour after glorious hour on the most beautiful horses imaginable as the sun slowly disappeared in to the night ...... an experience of a lifetime.

I shall definitely return and can't recommend it enough!

We stayed at the Estancia as well as the sister property Playa Vik and loved the combination of a beach hotel and a ranch all in one week. The Estancia is a 10 minute drive inland fom la Playa and feels like a totally different world. Our rooms at each property were designed by the same Uruguayan artist Marcelo Legrand and were very different from one another. Our room at Estancia was larger but somehow much cozier. We loved the wood-burning fireplace and the wraparound porch!

A highlight was a horseback ride with the GM of the resorts Agustin one morning. He was a great teacher and challenged me a bit, and we also saw three baby horses, an armadillo, ostriches, and countless beautiful species of birds. Next time I come back I want to take a polo lesson! I was also impressed that he remembered all of our friends who had stayed at the resort before by their first names!

The staff was nice enough to plan an Asado dinner during our stay when we inquired about it. I'm so glad they did because the food (meat!) was outstanding and seeing the enormous grill room in action was impressive.

Finally we did not rent a car and the staff drove us back and forth to the beach at Jose Ignacio free of charge. The only transfers they charged for were to La Caracola and the airport. Next time (I hope there's a next time!) I'd like to rent a car so I can further explore the surrounding towns like La Barra.

My only complaint...that I couldn't stay forever!

Room Tip: Choose an upstairs suite w a wraparound porch!

My partner and I stayed at the Estancia Vik and had a fabulous time. The staff are incredibly attentive and make you feel that you are the only ones staying at the property. Of course, that could be because there are only 12 guest rooms.

The design is wonderful. The common rooms are huge, filled with art, and are irresistible.

The breakfast had numerous options and was hearty -- although it was unvaried for the three days that we were there. Dinners were pricey ($100 pp) but the food was fantastic, creative, and the dinning room was quite private. The staff made sure that we knew that we could have our meal anywhere on the property -- in the formal dinning room, in the wine cellar (which is stunning), poolside, in our room, or on the balcony of our room.

The ranch can be explored by horseback, accompanied by someone from the stables. All activities, including horseback riding were inclusive. I only wish I had time to play tennis on the grass courts near the polo field....

Room Tip: Each room is different and the decor varies (each designed by a different artist from Uruguay). The...

It does not get much better than what we just experienced at Estancia and Playa Vik. The second annual Art Trip with a wonderful group of participants and two of the most amazing leaders who are amongst the top artists in Uruguay. The combination of all that these two wonderful resorts have to offer, staff that feels like family, art workshops and a unique destination is hard to find any where else in the world. It seems to get better each time....this was my 4th visit in less than 3 years! A must visit for all!!

Room Tip: There are 12 suites at the Estancia... 4 of them are Master Suites, meaning all located on the secon...

We stayed for 3 nights at the Estancia Vik just outside Jose Ignacio, north of Punta del Este on the Atlantic coast of Uruguay. Let me begin by saying the hotel's website does not do it justice. After some difficulty locating the property (the gate is marked by a very tiny sign far down a country road from the beach) once you arrive it feels like you're on the Ponderosa. Gorgeous rooms, custom-designed by Uruguayan artists with floor-to-ceiling windows/doors overlooking the vast pasture lands filled with horses, cattle and sheep. Want to ride some of the most beautiful, well-cared-for horses with gaucho guides? Just let the staff know about an hour in advance. And no extra charge. Free bike rentals (although a bit challenging on the dirt roads). A short trip to Jose Ignacio and about 30 minutes from the "Miami-beach" atmosphere of Punta del Este, make this place an absolute must stay. Had we known it was as good as this, we would have booked a week instead of just a few days.
