Just got back from Samba loved everything about Samba except the food at the evening buffet, breakfast was very good the snack bar at the pool had very good burgers and chicken wings and excellant nachos and salsa but the evening buffet was close to inedible, most nights food was luke warm at best. I am not a picky eater but I was having a hard time getting this crap down good thing they had a late night snack service (burgers and nachos) The alcarte resteraunts were much better but they only allow you to eat at each one once during your week, although I talked to on guest who also complained about the food quality and he said they gave him tickets to eat in the alacarte resteraunts for the rest of the week.
The staff at this hotel is second to none very friendly and willing to do what ever needs to be done, grounds are immaculate beach is awesome
if you can get around crap food at the buffet you will love this place.

Feb. 26 - March 12 . Excellent staff , especially Salvadore ( restaurant) and Lore ( egg lady ) . The Samba was very quiet during our two week stay but unfortunately this was ruined on our last day when 75-100 teenagers involved in the Nayarit Olympics took over the hotel. Fortunately only our dining experiences were ruined and not our last nights sleep, as our room was at the dead end of the hall. We had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel ,but the food will not be the highlight of the holiday. It is good, but not excellent.

My wife and I just got back from the Samba yesterday.
All in All you cant go wrong if your an easy going person with reasonable expectations and just want to go on vacation and recharge.

Pool - a little chilly, but nice otherwise

Food - ok, not bad

Drink Service - Flawless

Room - Not bad, but not great, we had a room facing the Riu vs. the Pool seemed fine.

Loved it

To all that were there from march 11-18(mike and sharonand jessica, hillary from langley(sako and kong,ha ha))Place was truly what we read about and the fact that during spring break you could go to beach or pool at noon any of the seven days and find with no problem 3 chairs in a row available is truly unheard of. Went to royal decameron and rui jalisco and service to guests was iffy and drink glasses were tiny, are drinks glasses were same or larger than a 12 onze beer can, fit in my cuzzi and taller than can. Drinks poured to strong to the point were we all had to tell them to calm down a bit, half and half a bit much. Ola to Linda.Beach is great, water warm and pool great, much bigger than shown in pictures. Shower and washrooms on beach is a nice feature and yes there is bar service on beach. I could go on for a while but thanks to fermin, bruno, martin, will I am, hector, javier and tere for room service. The food always had a good selection and yes breakfast was spectacular, day snack at front bar was nice to have right on beach, wings are not over cooked but the way they do it so tasty.

We stayed at the Samba from March 7-14 and it was a fantastic vacation. The rooms were comfortable (we had a two room suite with two queen beds and a butterfly style couch that converts to a bed in the living room. ) The living room also had a table and chairs and a kitchen, with a half bathroom. The bathroom off the bedroom had a large shower (some rooms have a bathtub). The food was average in the buffet and excellent in the two restaurants. The pool was fantastic and the beach in front was beautiful, and they hand- raked it early every morning. The beauty of the beach was that there were always lounge chairs, there were thatched umbrellas, and excellent drink service. You could go up to the bar which was close by for nachos, burgers and pizza around lunch time if you didn't feel like going to the buffet, and just sit in the wonderful beach setting and enjoy the joggers parasailors and walkers on the contiuous sandy beach. (You could walk for about 10 miles). There are free kayaks to take out and boogie boards any time you wish during daylight hours. We did both and really enhjoyed it! The waves in front of the hotel were perfect for body surfing around one o'clock every day we were there. The staff were wonderful and made you feel like you were part of the "family". The shows were excellent and the dancers really put their heart into it. We were able to watch one from our balcony. All in all it was a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend it. We will be back (as so many others are too)...
