This hotel is disgusting. The Front Desk agents do their best to hide the mess, but cannot always achieve to do their job properly. We have seen the Room division manager Lima several time at the bar half drunk. The general manager Verder is hiding. No one to solve our problems : mildew, bugs, missing items, no general upkeep of the property, questions about the increase of the maintenance fees...
We have also seen the restaurant manager insult clients and barked at her staff.
Two nice people : barbara at the bar for breakfast, and Rosaleen at the Desk. They tried their best to help us and to hide the mess. But so much they can do, when they do no have the tools to work.
Someone please verify the management of this resort ! what is wyndham doing ? It seems that all the qualified workers are leaving or are fired (we have met angela once, she was very helpful but is leaving the company)
We stayed there in July and will never go back as long as things will not change.

We have owned at Sapphire for five years and have seen it go downhill. Last year my grandson was hurt in the jacuzzzi by the restaurant/bar and
the french fry manager hid him in his office and told
him he did not need medical help, he could just walk down to the ocean and the salt water would heal his wound. Meanwhile, my daughter is running
to get het car, he is bleeding profusely. Our friends
are running through the lobby opening doors trying to find my grandson to get him to the car and a doctor/ He had a hole in his heel from something sticking up in the jacuzzi that he stepped on that was one and a half inches deep. He had to have a
tetanus shot and antibiotics. He could not have stitches since the wound was a puncture wound and had to be able to drain. His first week and a half he could not get the wound wet and his dressing had to be changed 3 times a day. Guess what, Sa[pphire did nothing except get surly the stupid french fry manager(useless). One year later, the
jacuzzi has not been fixed. The blood from my grandsons wound is still visible. The whole place sucks and the staff is surly, including the guy in the
store downstairs. He is offended if you give him a
travelers check. I for one am sorry I own. Why is
Wyndham associated with this place, if they aren't
willing to take some responsibility. Also, I own two
weeks with my daughter and in those two weeks my
deck jacuzzi was never cleaned and had not been cleaned prior to our arrival.

We bought our first unit in 2000 and then added another week in 2001. Since Wyndam has taken over the place has gone downhill. There are major leaks, our units have never been repainted or touched up in 5 years. Lamp shades are broken. Trim on doors is missing. Fabrics are faded! Bedspreads were stained! There were cockroaches in the kitchen cabinets! Showers always flood the floors. There was mold in the bathrooms! The maid service was terrible! Floors were filthy and bathrooms were not cleaned properly! The front desk was hit or miss depending upon who you got. Some people were nice. The manager spent his time at the bar drinking and smoking. One of our friends had an accident last year at the spa where his foot went through plastic as he was getting in. The manager was unhelpful and tried to convince the mom not to take him to the doctor. He later said the boy was jumping up and down. Totally untrue! The boy was 16 years old! The plastic grates are old and brittle from all the years in the sun. The kicker is that a year later the plastic has not been replaced and is still very sharp and brittle. I wonder where the $700.00 a year maintenance fees are going? Where is Phillipe the owner in all of this? I'm sure the Villa he stays in is perfect! Wyndham flies it's flag but takes no responsibility! It's disgusting!!!!! If you are looking for a place to stay I would stongly discourage you from staying at the Sapphire!!!!

Me and my husband traded our timeshare and went to the Sapphire for our Honeymoon. We went in June of 2004. We absolutley LOVED it!!! We stayed in a studio and it was huge. Way beyond all my expectations. The room was clean and bright and had a great balcony with our very own Jacuzzi right on it. The veiw was excellent. The bathroom was large and spacious. The Kitchen was big and well laid out. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The Sunday orientation was very informative and they also host a raffle which was a nice treat. The pool was great. The reasturant food was excellent. The beach was rocky with heavy surf but they don't boast that they have a great beach anyway. The activities desk was very handy and very helpful. You can book all of your activities right there and even get a bit of a discount on certain activities by booking them there. Definaltly rent a car to get around the island though. Overall we had a great honeymoon and will definately be going back to the Sapphire on our future trips to St. Maarteen.

The reviews on this website scared me, but I found few of them to be true. Stayed at the Sapphire for our honeymoon:) The room was clean and nice - the jacuzzi worked great for us and we were pleasantly surprised that our kitchenette had a range as well. Pool was great. The food in the restaurant/bar left a lot to be desired, but the staff there did their best to entertain.

Our only major gripe was that the front desk wouldn't cash our travelers checks - the "accountant" was never in. But no biggie - we just cashed them all at the casino down the road. (FABULOUS French restaurant there.) Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Well...what can I say? We expected the worst after booking the exchange week through RCI for $345 (for the week!). I found the whole experience at the Sapphire a delight. All staff were helpful and polite from check in to check out. Special mention to Nelly and Rhonda on the Activities desk who were both friendly and welcoming. We were allocated room 343 and loved it. OK... so there were a few minor problems with the decoration but hey for $345 who wants to think about them? The apartment was overlooking the sea and the hot tub worked perfectly. The apartment was clean and the towels etc changed every couple of days. Maid service was good. Found our "missing" glassware stacked up in the dishwasher...lol.

Overall, a wonderful holiday and I would not hesitate in going back to the Sapphire on a future trip!

Recommended for its location and friendliness and for the price we paid it can't be bad!

We stayed at the Sapphire Beach the week of June 5th and had a very nice time. We were in a large studio facing the ocean, overlooking the pool, with a hot tub on the balcony. We used the hotel as a base to visit a different beach each day. (There is not much beach at the hotel, but the ocean views are great, the pool is large, the staff was very helpful, the property is well landscaped, and the lobby and rooms are also very nice.) We would stay at the Sapphire again.
