Sapphire Beach Club Resort
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Cupecoy Bay
Reviewed February 16, 2014

After reading other reviews we were concerned about staying at the Sapphire. But were pleasantly surprised. Our room was newly renovated with all new furniture. The stove and microwave were older, but functional. We did not use thee dishwasher. The unit was located in tower #1 on the 5th floor, and the glass doors going to the balcony provided a spectacular view. The spa tub on the balcony did not work, but when told, the resort sent maintenance to fix it, and when we checked out, they were waiting for parts to repair it. The personnel on staff are very professional, but a little more reserved than other resorts we've visited. They did answer any questions, and did meet our needs.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main tower, room #153 which is a large studio overlooking the bay.

I've been going to Sapphire for 10 years. There's been a few issues over the years but nothing that ruined our vacation. This year I was concerned by the reviews I read but recent reviews were positive. Unfortunately this was our most disappointing stay. Our room was in building two. Our friends stayed in building two and also had issues. The front desk was as helpful as they could be, but they can only do so much! Everyday we needed to ask for towels or sheets because ours disappeared. Housekeeping brought them quickly so I guess it's not a big deal. Not having hot or even warm water for a shower was a big deal. Having to fill a trash can with water to flush the toilet was a big deal. Fridge didn't work for 4 days, all but one burner on the stove didn't work. The neglect is really beginning to show. Our other friends stayed in building three and had none of these issues. Not sure I'll go back....luv the island may try another time share resort.

Room Tip: Stay away from building two!

Have not stayed at the Sapphire though we met timeshare owners who said the new owners are doing a great job. The told us to try the new Italian restaurant near the bar area called Italian by Paolo. It was well worth it. My husband was hesitant, but quickly changed his mind once he tasted the Caesar salad. The chicken parm was the best I've had (including my husband's!). The red sauce was great--fully developed flavor. Just like home made. My rigatoni with eggplant was quite good. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the eggplant fabulous. We will definitely return. Thank you Jeff and Lisa for your recommendation.

We have been to the Sapphire Blue now three times never experienced any problems i allways called and verified what rooms we were getting we called the Hotel two consecutive years we stayed on the 5th floor two bedroom three bath end corner unit.( Ocean ). they cleaned almost every day including the outside tub. As far as beach and ocean That is why you go to Sapphire Blue Its the Beach and water , towels crap we used hotel towels, bought towels downtown, diffferent times of the year the beach comes and goes go to mullet right down the street great diving and snorlking, nice waves or go thru the hotel tunnel and go right to cupacoy, 150 ft your back at the beach. i think one time we needed a blender and they brought up a blender. i think it was all about being members of Wyndham by request or something . for us it was great we also shooot over to SABA and walk the whole day! Second there is a trick to get the AC working we figured that out the first time we went there.

This was our first time at Sapphire, and was concerned after reading some reviews. First, there are new owners that are present on the property. There is a new towel policy for the beach/pool. You must sign them out and return them each day. We could always get towels with no problem. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and the bed made. The pool area has lounge chairs and more umbrellas. The problem is some people mark their chairs then leave and return at their convenience. This is no difference than what I've seen in Mexico tho. The staff and maids were always helpful and courteous. The big change has been the pool bar/ restaurant area. The manager Dennis, left a good job a month ago to try to turn this place around. Him and his staff were there all 7 days we were there. They all do a terrific job and are fun to be around. The resort does have some maintanence issues that will take time and money, but it does seem to be going in the right direction. The resort is in a great area on a wonderful island with much to see and do. You need a car to see the whole island. You can rent one at the airport or at the resort. I would stay here again, but it's not fair to bash the people that work here and are doing their best with what they have to work with. Also a Hello, Please, and Thank you goes a long way.

This place is NOT worth it. Service was non-existent: the worst was that there were NO TOWELS available during our 3 day stay. When we asked for towels for use at the pool, the gentleman at the front desk literally laughed and said none were available. This happened EVERY Day. It was weird.

In addition, we had to pay 11 dollars a day extra for internet, which was very unreliable.

Also, we ate breakfast there, and food was "not fit for humans" according to one of my friends.

So anyway, I wouldn't bother with this place. I'm sure you can find a better place...
