“Vacation from Hell.”

I am highly allergic to mold and my room was covered with it and dust too. The back of the bathroom door was black with mold. The hotel staff was not friendly at all and it seemed to be ran by the Russian mob. Parking is a huge issue. The security guard would not allow us to park underneath the building at 3AM when we were coming back from a beach party. He had us park across the street in a lot. Got up at 6AM to catch a boat and found that our car door was missing off the rental car. The hotel management would do nothing about it and they would not even call the police. The next day the hotel staff made us feel even more uncomfortable where as we decided to stay in our room and then go to the airport to stay more safely.

Returned from one week stay in St. Maarten. Stayed at SBC from 3/10/13-3/16/13 with my in-laws, who own a unit there. Their unit had been rented out for a year (unbeknownst to them!) and we had to switch units twice to get one that was acceptable. Bed was quite firm and the pillows were so hard it made it difficult to sleep. But, we didn't go there for the resort, and it worked for us just having to sleep and shower up there. We did try to exchange beach towels one day and there weren't any new ones available. The staff at Oreo 22 is quite nice and we had fun at the bar/restaurant located in the Resort.

We are timeshare owners here, and use the timeshare every other year. Each time we go there, it looks the same, with no maintenence being done. Looks like it was built in the early 70's with no updates since then. Our unit that we own had been rented out for a year, so they upgraded us. The unit they initially tried to put us in was very musty smelling with a filthy kitchen space. Greasy finger prints on the microwave, a broken latch on the dishwasher with a load of tape on it. The smooth top cook surface was cracked into several pieces. There were 2 couples, and one bedroom had a twin size bed, so we went back to the desk and asked very nicely if there was another unit available. The lady at the desk seemed surprised when we told her about the unit. She then moved us into another large unit, with 2 bedrooms, each with its own full bath. The balcony off the living room faced the ocean and pool area. Balcony was large with table and 4 chairs and a hot top. Again it smelled very musty, but after opening the sliders and letting fresh air in, it was better. The unit (#355) is large, but the toilet off the master bedroom continuously was dripping water. The noise was distracting while trying to get to sleep, but we just shut the bathroom door. It's sad to see this once beautiful property falling to ruins by poor management. Where are the maintenance fees going?

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are nicer and have hot tubs on balconies.

We own there and since the begining it's been "entertaining". Once you adjust to occasional rudeness and lack of attention to detail it's a much better stay. The maid staff is excellent and SBC has huge potential but until there are some major chages made in upper management and attention to detail they will continue to struggle.

We just returned on 3/2/13 from one of the worst places we have ever stayed. While the island of St. Maarten/St Martin has so much to offer, staying at the Sapphire Beach Club will cast a big shadow over the good things. Our studio was dirty and run down with leak under the bathroom sink that never got fixed, a staff that was totally unengaged with guests, and a lack of both bath and beach towels on a daily basis. The towels we did get always smelled like they had not been laundered properly. The dead bugs on the floors remained until we cleaned them up. The pool had a greasy haze on it that led us to believe that the pool filter was not operating and water was most Lille not chlorinated carefully -needless to say, we headed to the beach about a mile away since the resrt's beach was about 5 ft deep! The accomodations were large enough but the furniture in the living room was uncomfortable and we ended up having to watch TV from bed. The WiFi only worked in the lobby even though they tried to charge for in-room use. This was our second trip to the island and we would return but NEVER to this resort.

Room Tip: Avoid this resort at all costs. There are too many others to choose from.

We left Virginia and South Carolina and headed to St Martin for the regatta and some R &R. We returned to the Sapphire Beach Club again this year...best feature is location!! The hotel shows its age and right now the WIFI is only working in the lobby :(

We have returned from our trip Feb 16, 2013 - Feb. 25, 2013. Although not our first time at this resort, it is definitely our last. Although many complain the staff does not care, they actually do, however, they have no authority or management support to get anything done. If you speak with them, they will all tell you that they get yelled at all day and night. The rooms are a disaster, airconditioning doesn't work, musty smells, bathrooms full of bugs, no toilet paper, no towels, no face cloths, no TV's, no phones, no coffee pots, no toasters, no blenders, no chairs, etc. Our stove went on on its own and the only way they could fix it was to cut the circuit breaker. If you are missing something in your room, they take it from another vacant room and give it to you, instead of replacing and restocking. Beach Towels???? good luck getting any. Instead of purchasing more, they just tell you there aren't any....come back in an hour. I was in the lobby one evening and a guest broke a bottle, the staff looked at it and the manager looked at it and they all walked away. People were walking barefoot and could have easily cut their feet open!!!! There are lines of people complaining all day and night...I could go on and on and on, however, I believe you get the picture, STAY AWAY!!!! Spend your money elsewhere...If anyone states this place is good, and they didn't have any issues, then they are paid or part of SBC to write the reviews. This place is a dump!!!

Room Tip: Use a different resort!!!
