If service and attention to the customer were the only thing that was being rated, then Felipe and his staff would score at the top. Fortunately, the food gets the same rating. Nothing is ever a problem for them to handle when it comes to service with a smile. If you want a dish done differently, it is only a question of making the request. The cuban oriented menu lets you sample truly fresh ingredients done in ways you may not have considered. Breakfast and lunch are always available and after many visits there, we have never been disappointed. It is always part of our trip to St. Maarten and we look forward to being greeted as friends.

HIGHLY recomended

We came twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both visits were wonderful... Not for the rushed. We had the Latin breakfast, recalao, a very hearty Cuban breakfast that will fill you for hours and an omelet, both were tasty. For lunch we had the Cuban sandwich and the vaguely de frijoles...also very hearty and deicioso!

This restaurant has been one of my favorites for the past year and a half. The eggs Benedict is one of my favorite breakfasts on the island, and is one of the most delicious breakfasts you will have (get it on a bagel). Their lunch options are all good, I and my friends have worn out their menu selection and loved every minute of it. The Cazuela is one of my favorite dishes, also the bagel sandwiches. The owner is awesome, and the staff is perfect. If you love food, you will not be disappointed with Ernest & Fidel's.

The Ernest and Fidel cafe is a great little establishment to sit and enjoy a lovely meal while in Porto Cupeocoy. The owner Felipe Gomez is a welcoming and friendly person who will do everything possible to ensure you have a pleasant experience. The theme of the cafe centers on a meeting held some 50 years ago when Ernest Hemmingway interviewed Fidel Castro in preparation for his book entitled, ‘Hundred Hours with Fidel.’ The food is great, the prices are very reasonable and the establishment presents a clean and inviting atmosphere. I don’t believe you will be disappointed.
