Papigo is a beautiful traditional stone village, enjoying breath-taking views of the area, especially the Astraka Towers. The hotel itself is charming, in keeping with the character of the village and its amenities are good. Wifi signal in the main building is good, not so strong in the rooms. Unfortunately it is let down by the breakfast which was a disaster. Extremely limited offer, bread and cake were not fresh, 2 types of cereals, 1 type of cheese and 1 type of ham (that did not look very appetizing) and worst of all a pie that was old and not edible, in a region famous for its pies. How can you get breakfast wrong? Pity as the view from the rooms is impressive.
Would I recommend the hotel to others? No, as I think it is expensive for what it offers (75 euros p/n). Would I recommend staying in Papingo? Hmm ..the views from Papingo are indeed breathtaking but you have to take into account that the road leading to the village is extremely windy and once there the options in terms of restaurants are limited (perhaps during high season this changes). Have a look at Aristi, Kipoi or Monodendri, which are more easily accessible and may serve as better basis for touring the region.
