“Wonderful tennis holiday in La Manga”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Just got back from a long weekend staying in las Lomas Village in La Manga. We had originally booked a studio, but were pleasantly surprised on arrival to find that we had been upgraded to a one bed townhouse with views!! Check in was quick and the receptionist efficient and very friendly, giving all the info about the resort. There is a free shuttle bus to take you around the resort, you just request at reception or in any of the restaurants you happen to be, and at most we waited 10 minutes for it. The apartment was lovely, very airy and nicely decorated and the kitchen had everything you would need, they even provide you with a small travel pack with a couple of dishwasher tablets, washing machine tabs and cloths etc. The bathroom is supplied with lovely expensive toiletries, and the fridge had milk and water and a choice teas and instant coffee. There is free wifi all around the resort now so that is a plus as well.

We dined at Luigis twice (pizza is great and the pasta good too, the tiramisu not very good though) and Asia (fantastic thai restaurant in Las Sabinas). There is a large supermarket in Las Sabinas as well which stocks everything you might need. We didnt go to the smaller deli cafe in Las Lomas. The spa is really a large indoor pool with people doing laps, and a small sauna and turkish bath (fits 3 people) on the sideline.

The Weekend Warriors tennis course was fantastic, the coaches were good fun and knowledgeable, my only complaint would be that I think as it was Easter it was too crowded as there were 3 coaches for 16 of us. My group was fine as we were only 4 in it but the other 2 groups looked a bit full, they should just give lessons to a max of four people like they do in the private clubs in Madrid. We met a great bunch of people, mostly English, and the afternoon tournaments were great fun.

The reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is that the day we left the receptionist was surly and rude and tried to charge us for a meal in the deli cafe which we had not eaten. To be fair he was the only unfriendly person that we encountered on the resort, most went out of their way to be helpful.

Also be wary of mosquitoes!! I have come back with 45 bites (I counted them) because it rained a bit and was very humid there was a swarm of them at the tennis courts.

Room Tip: Ask for a townhouse with views, not all of them have them

Have just spent 1 night in Los Lomas Aparthotel for a price of €188 including bed, breakfast and 2 rounds of golf.

HOTEL. The room (415) was spacious, clean, had a balcony and was well soundproofed as both adjoining rooms were occupied (but there was a faint smell of damp). Checkin was swift and easy and all of the staff seem to speak various languages (inc English).

GOLF (Hcp5). The South Course is the best out of the 3. Late 70s design, with wide generous fairways and plenty of bunkers/lakes. Lightning fast greens makes scoring difficult.

SPA. Many football/cricket, etc teams working out in the gym. Big pool area. Jacuzzi, steam, sauna, etc. Fabulous facial with TANIA (who speaks excellent English). Expensive treatments.

FOOD & DRINK DeliCafe - perfect for a coffee and breakfast. Luigis - delicious Italian food with attentive service. Si - good pub grub with friendly owners.

We booked through interval. In the brochure it shows a split level townhouse but when we arrived about 11.30 pm we were given a two bed ground floor apartment. It seemed like it was originally three hotel rooms with an adjoining door to the next apartment in the lounge and nothing what we were expecting. I went straight to the reception and was told to come back the following morning but they were fully booked. The next morning I went to reception where I had to argue with the receptionist about what was shown in the brochure. Luckily I had the app on my phone and showed the staff what was advertised. They moved us after to a townhouse. I have never complained before but felt justified to do so as we didn't like the original accommodation at all. On the good side we found the restaurants reasonable apart from the bistro which was overpriced. We enjoyed our stay after our move but probably not enough to go back.

First time/short period Booking for a relaxing break and use of the spa facilties with my partner. The spa treatments was overall very satisfactory and was happy with the level of customer service around. The resort is quite large and was fortunate to have a car to travel around to the restaurants, shopping area, the beach bar and out to the Mar Menor.

Apartment was clean and of good standard. Lovely view on Balcony to relax with drinks. We eat in the Itailian and Asian restaurant and was of good quality.

It may have been a matter of timing, but one annoyance was fighting off the fly's in the beach bar while having lunch and admiring the views! Would thought an investment into a fly killer light(the type in the local chippy) would have been handy!. However, I was informed by staff that this was not the norm, and we did'nt have time to return and verify the next day.

Not sure why the pool was alway closed looking pretty! I should have asked, but wasnt a big deal.

We will be returning in March 2013 for a little longer to fully take advantage of the sport faciities this time round, with a few friends too!

Room Tip: Would suggest to go for a higher floors, and hire a car!

We have just spent a 1-night stop in La Manga whilst travelling in Spain. I really thought we had been transported back to the UK - everyone is English, the staff are indifferent, and the prices are sky-high !
The bars are full of groups of UK lads all getting plastered after a day on the golf courses, and the shopping areas of full of empty shops with broken windows.
Having said that, we had a very nice apartment, which was clean and well-equipped and the swimming pool just across the road was large and attractive.
If you want a authentic Spanish holiday - don't go here !!

Excellent holiday staying in a townhouse with plenty of room including a large balcony.
Deli Cafe was basic for breakfast, but enjoyable with friendly staff.
Played the North, South and West courses and all were a challenge especially the tight West course.

The clubhouse Bar 37 servicing both North and South courses was very good indeed, excellent staff and great food (tapas etc) and great atmosphere and service. Special thanks to Pedro, Antonio and Chef Ramon.

The shuttle bus is very handy it takes you to all of the resort areas except Bellaluz, but it’s only a short walk uphill from La Plaza where the shuttle drops you. We had great food at the Fairways Tapas Bar set in the only square in the resort (this area is mainly private owners apartments mainly British). It had a great atmosphere, and Vicky the waitress was excellent, and very genuine and helpful with local advice. Avoid the Piano Bar I have seen more excitement in a Dentists waiting room avoid Luigi the Italian restaurant? Not very appetising avoid at all costs.

La Bodega is worth trying, never tried Mr Changs but heard good reviews from other people, the same for Asia. The last Drop and Mulligans for a drink are ok,but you will find your own favourite's to eat and drink.

Overall a great golf holiday, booked through yourgolftravel.com well organised and would certainly use them again.

Just returned from a week long tennis holiday at La Manga with my 11-yr-old. As it was our first trip to a 4-star resort and to Spain, we didn't really know what to expect. After an uneventful one-hour taxi ride from Alicante airport (130 euros one-way) we arrived at Las Lomas Village Reception, where we were greeted by helpful staff. We were given a very pleasant room with a spacious modern bathroom, fridge, safe, great air-con and a good sized balcony offering a splendid panoramic view of the distant sea, golf courses and neighbouring villas. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. Even though the walls were a bit thin, it wasn't overly noisy at night and we slept well. It took about one minute to walk from the room to a gorgeous clean fresh water swimming pool. We spent most afternoons lazing by the pool feeling very chilled out and the rest of our time at the tennis centre, out on the clay courts, being put through our paces by a fab and totally mad bunch of Spanish tennis coaches. The resort is massive, like a small town really and has got a wide variety of shops and services. There is a free shuttle bus service that runs throughout the day until the early hours of the morning and goes to most places including a lovely little private beach. We took full advantage of the service and enjoyed chatting with the drivers who spoke English well and were polite and friendly. Having said that, if we go there again, I would probably hire a car for a few days in order to explore the area/restaurants outside the resort, in order to get an idea about what the 'real' Spain is like. Eating out in La Manga was generally good but it was a bit pricey. We had a truly scrumptious speciality seafood paella at La Bodega (near the tennis centre), breakfasts and midday tapas/sangrias at the deli cafe, Chinese at Mr Chans and some really delicious Italian food at Luigi's-all at Las Lomas. The only meal I didn't enjoy at all was the one we had at the Mexican restaurant at the tennis centre. Evening meals (including drinks) for the two of us came to 35 euros on average regardless of where we ate. All in all, we had a great holiday. Las Lomas Village was a friendly, peaceful, laid-back, clean and comfortable place.Compared with some places in the UK ie Centre Parcs it is, in my humble opinion, much better value for money. Hopefully we will be able to go back some day!

Room Tip: We had room 435. It was lovely. Can't comment on any of the others obviously as we have only bee...
