Personalised service - In one word, this is what differentiates “the wind” from other resorts around. The place is quite small and just by virtue of its size, it can’t dream of competing with others. No swimming pool, no Jacuzzi ,no dedicated children’s play area – despite these short comings if this place has to stay on top of the trip advisor ratings, this is solely due to the “personalised service” I mentioned earlier.
Coming to the finer details...It was an impulsive decision to visit Munnar. I had booked through Cleartrip and it was a breeze. (The only problem was when I tried to reschedule my stay. Rescheduling, if ever needed, should be easy if you book directly).
Reaching there – the place is situated a bit far from Munnar town - @ 20 km. So for people who would like to stay in the town or for people without their own conveyance, this may not seem to be the perfect place. But we found it to be perfectly located – tucked away in the mountains on the cliff edge – serenity at its best. (Travel tip – If you’re coming from Adimali side, instead of going to the resort via Munnar, you can take a deviation at Eruttukanam(8km from Adimali) – then to Anachal,Kunchithanny,Bison Valley,Muttukad and reach the wind )
The rooms – “Cleanliness” that’s what strikes you the moment you enter. (apart from the wonderful view of the valley , the drawn curtains offer ).Clean linen, clean floors, clean wash rooms-they leave you satisfied
Service – A smiling face makes all the difference here. Every one there (though only a few) seems to chip in. Right from Sekhar & Antony to the manager Suresh and the owner Noby – everyone was willing to help with a smile. It’s not very often that you come across such a group of people in a resort. A pleasing experience
The restaurant – with glass windows around offers a great view of the valley and the mountains around. Food is at par with what you expect at such a place. Since you don’t have any other eating places in the vicinity, be prepared to spend some time here .And travelling to the town for dinner is not a good idea since there’s some quite dense fog which really hampers the visibility.(We had a difficult time driving in the fog through the Lockhart gap!!)
And the negatives – It’s a small property – only 7 cottages. So it’s not the place for group bookings. The location is a small problem if you don’t have your own conveyance. Hiring a vehicle can be a bit expensive. If you have children with you, this might not be the best place since there’s no separate play area (they have a small recreation room, though). There’s no Wi Fi (but then, you don’t go to a hill station for using one na)
The bottom line – “The WIND, is the place to be , if you want to UNWIND .
