It is unfortunate as to what happened with the Talisman resort. Once a great family getaway with moderate hill drops for beginning skiers and where my kids learned the sport. The new owner had great plans for the redevelopment of Talisman, but, as in many small Ontario towns received opposition to any idea that is progressive. The place is now basically abandoned and in such disrepair it looks like it has been sitting empty for 50 years. The small golf course can barely be seen from overgrowth and some of the potholes in the parking lot are big enough to swallow a small car. The town of Kimberley really lost on this one-attractions, money, amenities were within their grasp but the 'old boys club' made sure that didn't happen. I'll miss the place.

“The Talisman was a great resort for Business”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We stayed at this resort on business with a large group (over 80 people) in October 26-29, 2005. I don't know why it closed but it was great with the clean big rooms, excellent restaurant with a great big selection of very good food. It had large conference rooms which were cleaned daily. The views were excellent from this resort. They have a great room to relax, kick back your feet and have a beer or drink in the evenings. It was great resort for groups, for business, for families and couples for a getaway. The grounds were very clean as well. Its too bad that it is closed because we would return here in the future on business.

“Talisman Resort is Closed”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

Our family spent many enjoyable weekends at Talisman Ski Resort - friendly staff, family-oriented environment and wonderful meals!

Sad to say, they are closed - we arrived to find the place abandoned. Refer http://www.simcoe.com/news/article/1118439--bank-put-talisman-in-receivership

“Bankrupt???”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

It's a great family hill.... but it might appear they are not opening for 2012... :( Site is down. No one answers call etc. Plus rumours spinning around from closing early last year. This would be a loss for the area.

“A family for windsor ont.”
Reviewed July 7, 2008

Great place for he family. KIds program is top notch. Better than you can imagine. Food is great and there is always somehting for the kids to eat. Make sure to bring your golf clubs , Nice executive course. Rent some kayaks and go down the beaver river or the the light house on Georgian bay. Rooms are ok . but your will not spend much time there. Ask for a valley view. And step up to a suite . and kids are free if you go during the summer and if you stay for 4 nights. Great Vacation for under $1200.00 meals includes. Check out the menu . WOW., Went four years in a row.
