Country Cottage - a Tea Garden Resort
Reviewed December 25, 2013

We chose this place as one of our honeymoon destination. We stayed in the rose cottage that offered a splendid view of the tea gardens.
The hospitality is excellent. So is their service.
However the food is quite overpriced. So is the alcohol. Plz carry your own bottles.
Overall wonderful experience.

Our favourite holiday resort. This is a family run exclusive resort and therefore everything is looked after the family members and a few very well trained and courteous staff.
This is a place to go for a nature holiday- a home away from home. It is beautiful, exotic and is full of country charm.
The cottages are really pretty , clean and comfortable. Picturesque. They also have a set of attached cottages so one can have a couple with grown up children or 2 couples go and stay together.
This is not for the traveler who is looking for televisions in bedrooms and a city experience. No , this is something very special. Nestled in the lap of nature in a forest area tucked away like a hidden gem. The night sky if no clouds is amazingly beautiful...I have never seen so many stars as in the night sky here! Do look skywards and take in the fresh scents of the flowers and the quiet peace of the night that you can find in only such a place.
The food served is homemade and delicious. The service is courteous and efficient. You can see that they do their best for you at this resort and more.
The resort is situated away from the town but is within a 5-7 minutes drive from it.
Note the meal serving timings- they are very reasonable- the food is homemade and great quality and taste- and as with most family run resorts (those of you who have stayed at such cosy family run gems all over the world will know for sure)there will be a 'Kitchen closing time'. So inquire beforehand and stick to it for it will sure be worth it. If desired there are a few goof hotels and eating joints in town where you cam have a late night meal...especially if you choose to be out late at night for sightseeing (or the travel back from as you obviously cant be sightseeing in the dark!)
I highly recommend this resort once again.

Room Tip: The Rose cottage is lovely for a couple with or without a small child or 2. The Iris Cottage 1 &...

Amazing experience at Country Cottage!! Very well appointed rooms offers serene view in the lap of Dhauladhar Ranges... The tea estate surroundings gives it an eternal look and makes it one of the best properties in the region. The owner, Mr. Sarin is a very courteous and welcoming host. The staff is also very helpful. The freshly brewed tea has an altogether different experience.

But on the other hand, the property is an expensive affair. The home cooked food is charged at a phenomenal rate and the room charges per night are also on a higher side. But maybe what they charge is for uniqueness and location!!

A must see property!! and recommended for peaceful and nature loving holiday!!

Room Tip: All rooms are very well appointed and offers an amazing view of snow peaked mountains and tea garden...

We were recommended this place so highly by a friend that we came all the way from Mcleodganj to spend 1N/2D at this place. And we simply loved it! The place is inside an army area and part of large tea estate. There are 3-4 cottages for guests each having comfortable amneties. There are no TV inside rooms as owners want guests to share some time together in common room. There is nothing much to do except having a walk in tea estate, taking a short hike to beautiful riverside and enjoying conversations with the owners and fellow guest. Not to forget, enjoy some team from the tea gardens! Enjoyed nature and the hospitality of owners a lot and will definitely want to return again sometime..

Room Tip: Rose Cottage has best view of Tea garden!

First of all i would lyk to tell everyone dat there service is pathetic, you wont get food or any other service before 8 a.m and after 9 p.m which is quite bad coz usually if u go out for sight seeing n all den u cum back to your room after 9-10 only
Secondly there charges for food are very high and one more thing for anyone who's planning to go there for the stay is that please make sure to ask them that how will they gonna charge you for breakfast lunch o dinner coz we hd a very bad experience wid that also , we thought they will charge us on per person basis as mentioned in there site also but on the time of billing they charged mch
more then that!!!

If you are at Palampur then be there for which Palampur is known for ,The Tea Estates,it is among few properties which has easy approach. The property consists of six cottages surrounded by acres of tea tea gardens .Your balcony or room opens straight into tea plantations. You might be disappointed if you can't do that without TV but you have lot of birds and nature to give you company here. The owners of the property make you feel special by giving you good attention and customised service.Few suggestions -if possible pick and drop facility to the main highway road, discounts for long stay as the current tariff just seems OK but is not tempting ,provision for tea maker in the room.

Set in the midst of a tea garden at an altitude of 5000 ft, the Chandpur Tea Estate is an ideal retreat from life in Delhi. It is surrounded by pine tress and lays in the lap of the Dhauladhar Range of the Western Himalayas in the Kangra Valley, in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The Sarin Family own the property and are the ideal hosts- you are treated like a special member of their family from the time you make your reservation.

The accommodation is excellent-either small cottages or insulated timber huts which are spotlessly clean, and very comfortable.During winter there is heating and during the warmer months you can put on the fan or open the windows(fitted with fly screens) and enjoy the fresh mountain air .Prices for double accommodation start at Rs 2900/- per night. The food is superb, and they will cater for all tastes and you really get incredible value for your money.

To get there, you can drive the 500 km via Chandigarh,or take an overnight train to Pathankot, then transfer to the narrow gauge train that takes you through wonderful countryside to Palampur. It is also possible to fly to Dharamsala Airport (if the service is operating) - 39 kms from the Country Cottage.

My first visit was with my sister in January,in the midst of winter.Being intrepid travellers we opted to travel by train-that was an adventure in itself !We arrived at the plantation in the dark,so our first impressions came the following morning-breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. It was very cold, but the sun was shining, and the air was crisp and clean. If you enjoy walking there is a great choice-from a stroll through the village and the adjoining areas or more invigorating hikes in the foothills. The villagers are friendly and they love having their photographs taken!--- There are so many other places of interest in the area, and the Sarin family are more than happy to help you with all the information you need.

My second visit was late October, and this time I took my mother with me.We travelled by car and broke the journey by staying overnight in Chandigarh. After Chandigarh the drive becomes more scenic, there is so much to see, plus you share the road with carts pulled by oxen, water buffalo, donkeys, mules and ponies,as well as the usual bikes, cars, buses and trucks. The road is also used to move flocks of sheep and goat from one place to another so you are never bored during the drive.

The weather was perfect;the sun shone every day but was not too hot.We ate our breakfast in the garden watching the birds and butterflies. We had comfortable chairs set out in the garden for us and tea and coffee could be enjoyed at any time. We drank the plantation tea, which was delicious.

I plan to return there again in the spring,in fact I think when the hot weather reappears in April I may well "Head For The Hills" for an indefinite period.
