“Pleasant meal in a nice atmosphere.”
Reviewed January 25, 2012

We were a party of 6 and had various different items off the menu. All these were of good quality and nicely presented. The service was good and the staff were friendly.

“Well done McKees, great food and good experience...”
Reviewed January 22, 2012

A very large group choose this location for a Saturday evening meal. Everything was very well prepared and organised. The table location and layout were good and we all had a warm and friendly welcome. The food was very good and well presented, not one murmur one dissatisfaction in the whole group. Service was very good and a good selection of wine. I think many in our group will return at sometime. If one thing can be said to improve the experience then the décor and lighting could be changed to create a more warmer atmosphere.

“One word, OK...”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

Went to the Haigs hotel brasserie (McKees) for lunch. Menu had lots of variety, 3 courses for £17.35. I ordered: Mediterranean chicken, Salmon with wilted spinach, brownie and vanilla ice cream.
First came and amouse bouche, I had the tomato soup. It was too much for a pre meal 'course'. It was luke warm and tasted bland and supermarket tin quality. The chicken was very moist but the cous cous was too salty. The salmon was nice but the wilted spinach was not wilted but overcooked and soggy. Also had grit within the
spinach. Brownie was ok, burned and not warm as described.Ice cream delicious :) Staff were friendly but slow and clear lack of experience. Overall not the best food/ service but for £17.35 not the worst, but good value for money.

“A little Gem friendly family run business”
Reviewed September 15, 2010

Having experienced the delicious food and lovely welcoming atmosphere on a couple of occasions we decided to book this hotel for our wedding reception on 3rd July 2010.We were not disappointed. It was a perfect day and great venue for anyone looking for a small hotel offering a very personnal service. We had the whole hotel to ourselves. The food and service was really superb. The staff worked so hard. It was such a fantastic day.
