“great piece of architecture...maintanence is nil”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

this dam is an architecture marvel and when i was there the dam was full to its capacity. Infact could not see the other side. The gardens are not at all maintained and you could see lot of litter around. The deer park and aquarium also needs some serious maintanence. From the entrance you need to walk nearly 1km to reach the view point of the dam or the gardens. There is a bus service but it is crowded most of the time.you can give the gardens a miss but the dam with water to its capacity is a sight to see

“Tungabadra at its best - TB Dam Hospet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

In case you want to have a short outing with not much of chaos with family then this is the place. Hospet offers finest base to visit many near by spots. The best season is Aug /Sep when the water is at its full. We were lucky this year to witness all the gates opened and the dam full to its brim. This is one of the few dam sights which are not spoiled by crowd or commercial exploitation. Go over there with a book sit the whole day in front of the mighty dam overlooking the bed and you will realize the bliss and the time flying.
Move around to places near by like Humpi etc., on a slow pace ...

Its a 4hr nice drive from Bangalore with great greenery and hillside view from Chitradurga onwards...
