Best Western Hotel Montgomery

This hotel was a pleasant surprise in the small town of Pontorson. We had a modern room in a 16th century building. I room was clean and crisp. The en suite bath was down a flight of stairs within the room. It was a modern, clean well equipped bath, but a difficult climb in the middle of the night. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, making recommendations for dinner and of museums in the area. The ceilings and staircase in the old building should not be missed. They do a very nice breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Check whether your bathroom is on the same level as your bedroom. Ours was down a flight of stairs.

This is not a new property – it was the private home of Gabriel de Montgomery in the 16th century – and as such is an incredible place.

Friendly, helpful staff – English speaking – with flat screen TV with English channels.

Obviously old décor – but modern bathrooms with all amenities including hairdryer. Tea/coffee making facilities. No safe. Free fast WiFi internet.

Bar and breakfast room only – no restaurant but lots of local bistros.

Car parking is free on the street outside – or chargeable in the hotel’s private compound.

If you are going to St Michael’s Mount it’s close and a very good place to stay.

Room Tip: Each room is different - you could always try the four poster bed...

We had booked this quite in advance and added a night - the adult couple were put in a quaint room - newly refurbished.
Unfortunately I requested a bath specifically but would have had to pay another 100Euro just for a bath.
My room was very small and dated but lovely comfortable bed made up for the room.
Mon Petit was delightful and helpful.

Okay, the room is small but the hosts are so friendly, the hotel has so much character and the in-room bathrooms so surprisingly up-to-date! That it was perfect. We opened our windows and had a lovely, comfortable cool breeze. The elevator is small so took us a couple trips to get our luggage to the room. Parking is on the street but we had no problem at all finding a very close spot anytime of day or night. Price was quite reasonable and the location was nice. We had considered staying on Mont St Michel or closer to it, but now, having been there, we think staying in Pontsoron is ideal. Lovely, quiet, charming and comfortable.

The hosts speak English and recommended a few restaurants. Hotel Bretagne supposedly has a special local lamb dish but we wanted something a bit faster so she recommended a creperie, not the one closest to the hotel, but just a few doors away from the closer one. It was the perfect meal, and one of the favorites of our 2 week trip, despite the comparatively low price. The best was the galette with steak hache and a creamy mustard sauce. So good! We appreciated our hotel host's knowledgeable suggestion. She knew we were eager to get to Mont St Michel and her recommendation was the perfect option.

The patisserie across the street was awesome and a little market next door allowed us to pick up a few conveniece items. Well positioned place. I'd go back today!

In an old mansion, the owners (Mr. & Mrs. PETIT) will do everything to let you feel at home.
The hotel is well-runned, staff is very helpful and friendly, rooms are clean with modern amenities (ours had a bathroom with enormous jacuzzi).
Breakfast is a nice start of the day.
Some good places for lunch and/or dinner in the nearby area.
Stay there, you'll not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with jacuzzi : they are a little bit more expensive but you really feel like the Duke...

We planned to visit Mount St. Michel in Brittany,France and read in the guide book that very vew rooms are available inside St Michel compound,so we booked Best Western Montgomery ,a town 6 km. away. But we found out while we were there, there are various hotels on the outskirt of St.Michel entrance,2 km.where most tourist stayed would be more convenient, making multiple daily visit possible, especially at night when thw whole St Michel is light up and shops and restaurants are open also.
The Best Western Montgomery is fine,a very old hotel with history of over 100 years.Rooms are clean although not that new.But the hotel has a nice ancient atmosphere.Nice breakfast. We were there on a Sunday,so many local shops are close, including the hotel reataurant. The reception recommended a small family restaurant 100 meters away which was ok. Parking was free on the street.

Room Tip: Ask for the best room they have at your price range.

I stayed in this Hotel as part of an Insight Vacations bus tour in August 2011.
It was built in 1526 and the original wooden staircase is still in use today!!!!!
What an absolutely truly wonderful experience it was to stay in this unique piece of French history. I and every other member of the Insight tour thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would just LOVE to return.
The building is so unique and old. The staff were really friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. I was delighted with the room size and the bathroom. We all found the food to be very good indeed. Most of us rated the food higher than 8/10.
I recommend this Hotel to everyone
