We drove out from Paris and stayed here overnight so we could get some evening photos of Mont St. Michel and then get there the following morning before the hordes of tourist busses showed up.

We were warmly welcomed and pleased with the tidyness and cleanliness of our room. Having read the reviews on this site, I was interested in seeing how the Ariane and Vauban hotels were related... it seems the Vauban is the older building and the Ariane the newer one, however they both share a reception/dining area. Our room was clearly of new construction, and although the railway tracks do run outside, the windows were quite soundproof and this did not present a problem during our stay.

Perhaps the only odd thing was that for new construction, the bath... although having a detachable shower head, didn't have any enclosure for showering... so although I prefer showers I ended up having a bath rather than spraying water all over the bathroom. (And yeah, I know some bathrooms are built for this, and have a floor drain, etc. but that didn't seem to be the case in this room at least.)

Parking was free and conveniently located next to the hotel.

The room was a bit bigger than in the "city" hotels and was very well maintained.

We had a good stay and would stay here again.

On a recent trip to Mont. St. Michel we stayed at this hotel for one night. It is a basic hotel and was clean. Location is not great-- next to the railroad tracks, but pontsoron is only 8 miles from Mont. St. Michel. I felt the breakfast was overpriced at 9euros per adult and the hotel staff could have been a bit friendlier, but the hotel served the purpose!

The best thing about this hotel is the exterior photo on the web page. The interior corridors to the rooms are dark and depressing and BADLY in need of redocoration. The beds were comfortable but when you get woken at all hours by the noise of the bathrooms in the rest of the hotel as the coach parties head off early, it really is a moot point!
The proprietor was pleasent enough but his wife..... we saw people being given out to at breakfast when a couple sat at a table for four - the fact that it was the last remaining table that was set didn't seem to register with her.
The hotel backs directly onto the train line but as our room wasn't facing to that side I don't know if they run regularly or not.
We tried to book for dinner in the hotel the night we stayed but were told no.
Wouldn't stay there again nor would I recommend it to others.

The Dutch owner can help you out in several languages. The bed- and bathroom were good but the breakfast appeared to be a bit over-priced (from what I have seen the next morning passing). Anyway, the price for the room was reasonable and the hotel is right next to the train station from Rennes/Paris and bus stop for Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel rendering it especially attractive for those arriving late.

Just returned from a week travelling around the north of France. My mum and I stayed at the Hotel Ariane to allow us to visit le Mont Saint Michel. What the hotel's website does not tell you is that they also have another property near by. When we arrived we were shown the breakfast room and bar area, which were lovely just like the pictures i had seen, then however we were led outside the hotel and accross some train tracks. We were told that this is where we would be staying, there was no reception area or security. The main door was left open 24/7 with no code or key lock used. The rooms are nowhere near the standards advertised and therefore expected.

My mum was able to be moved to the main hotel for the duration of our stay after some convincing, but she was left concerned for me staying in the other unsecure building alone.

My family of three and friends also with a family of three stayed at this nice hotel in early January of 08. It is located near Mt St Michel which is a spectactular ancient attraction. Also nearby is the Brittany coast which is breathtaking picturesque. Also see Ft Latte and the walled city of St Malo.
The town of Pontorson is small quaint with nice restaurants and wonderful artisan bakeries with fresh bread and delicious French Pastry. Memorable
The hotel itself is clean and very reasonable, The hosts and staff are helpful speaking all European languages. Rooms are well equipped clean and comfortable, Highly recommended.
