The only problem I can fault is the smoking in the casino where people are eating as well. Not good for people with asthma. This is also the first time a chef has cooked a well done steak, it was delicious. Rooms are comfortable, I just all hotel would remember not everyone drinks coffee or knows how to use a coffee maker just to make a cup of tea.
I would recommend this resort in a heart beat to anyone. The cleanliness of the resort was excellent. The staffing was great, they were excellent in giving directions to places in the area. The rooms were fantastic, the bed was so comfortable. The resort location is very well placed. You can see mountains in the distance, the area wasn't congested with vehicles.I can't wait to go back,I didn't want to leave.I went there for the UFO International Congress and everything was very well set up.The entire trip was amazing.
i was there for 5 days the staff was excellent the rooms were clean an comfortable. The restaurant was clean an the staff attentive to your wishes. The rooms are very nice with a fridge an the bathroom is very nice even a hair dryer for the people that need it an all the amenity you need.
After booking (at an unbelievable rate) for 2 nights, I wondered if I had made a good move. I didn't realize how far from Scottsdale the hotel is located, but in the end, no complaints, as the setting made it feel more like a retreat, and a visit to over commercialized Scottsdale and Old Town Scottsdale made me realize it's nature and the outdoor settings that are worth the visit to this area. Although construction in nearby areas such as Fountain Hills keeps buildings low in profile and store signs hard to see, there is a commercial strip with a Target, Starbucks, Walgreens, gas stations, etc. just 2-3 miles from the hotel on Shea Blvd. in Fountain Hills. In fact, I found that using Shea Blvd. as your route back to Scottsdale was the most direct rather than taking Hwy 87 south then 101 north. Shea has lights but it moves at a decent pace and has 3 lanes.
Wish I had known earlier about Ft. McDowell Adventures near the hotel. It appears they have planned activities only on Fridays and only after Labor Day through Memorial Day, unless you have a private event scheduled. However, you can do a trail ride across the Verde River, just like cowpokes in the Western days, even a cattle drive, kayak the Verde, have an old fashioned cowboy dinner and much more. As we weren't there on Friday, I made arrangements to ride horses at Cave Creek Outfitters for which you can read my review. It was 20 or so miles from the hotel, but Ft. McDowell Road proved to be a great short cut and beautifully scenic drive north through the Yavapai Reservation. Part of the road is unpaved through a fabulous orchard, but in good shape.
Back to the hotel, it is a beautifully maintained property, well decorated with a theme of "desert serenity" throughout, from the Native American music that greets you at the lobby and natural light entering the three level ceiling of the lobby. The room had a king size bed, hidden fridge under TV console, large closet, safe, and was a good size room, very comfortable. Bathroom was very clean, fluffy towels. Solid furniture. Maybe because it was Labor Day weekend, there were tons of families, which is fine, except they crowded the large pools. The pool area is fantastic. Great view of mountains, bar/snack area, there was even a DJ on Sunday. A night, they put a large screen out and project a movie over the pool. Plenty of seating.
They have a spa on site, fitness center and valet parking and concierge. I found the staff very eager to help and make your stay pleasant.
We entered the casino looking to try their restaurants. Maybe because of Illinois non-smoking rules that we've had for 15 years now, I found the smoky air at the casino impossible to endure, and we left, but it's definitely a popular stop.
The restaurant on the hotel property, Anhala, is excellent and serves Mexican/Native American fare. Read my review on it.
Nice big clean rooms. Walk across beautiful desert landscaped courtyard to casino. We are not big gamblers but do enjoy the pool and golf. Service was efficient and friendly. Only one small inconvenience the refrigerator in our room didn't work.
