Last time I visited the sport life hotel was 2002. At that time is was a nice clean but basic hotel. Given limited choices in Elmshorn it was one of the better options.
The hotel shows classic signs of lack of attention and care. Quite pricey for what is offered. Rooms are very tired and long overdue an overhaul.
Avoid if possible.

This hotel has a group of fantastic reception staff, a wealth of sports amenities and a respectful breakfast selection.

On the other hand:

The shower temperature gauge on the shower has an allowance of 1° for freezing cold, 1° for enjoyable shower and 178° of utter magma scolding skin destroying unearthly heat.

This is simply unacceptable.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Unless you really "Wacken" have to...

The room was relatively big, but very basic. Just three hangers in the closet, no free shelves in the closet or any drawers, just one spare power outlet in the room, no safe, no information on opening hours of the restaurant or gym facilities or sauna. There was no fridge in the room; apparently, one can get drinks at the reception desk, but - again - there was no information in the room about variety or prices.

The breakfast was ok, but it was at times hard to find clean silverware and tea cups and the coffeepots were not always very clean either.

The only good thing was that it was close to my business location.

All in all I have to say I was a disappointed by the price and what you get for it.

Room Tip: Try to get a room not too close to the elevator

Good breakfast, close to my business location. Poor service at dinner in the restaurant (ordered beer 3 times until delivered, mixing food orders). Good that they have some rooms for smokers and also wi-fi working well. In general it was OK.

Sportlife hotel is both a gym and a hotel, so I wish I had brought my exercise clothes, because the gym looks fantastic. The food was good, fresh, and much better than most hotel restaurants. The rooms were basic - double bed, small tv, and wifi. I felt like the shower was one of a locker room rather than a hotel. I would stay here again.
