excellent time at this small but personal zoo-
Especially the walk through enclosure which had the animals especially leimurs jumping onto your shoulders!, peacocks and laimas walking around you etc-
Nice and easy to find and not expensive- we visited the lakes and stayed at a travel lodge with the intention of spending a full day here and wasnt dissapointed- will return.

Living on the Lake District border the park is only a short train journey away, hence I have been there many times and each time, it just gets better!
Yes, it's fairly small, and yes there are no elephants. But I just love the proximity to the animals! Their are lemurs everywhere! It's a great laugh!
And the monkeys here have to be the most entertaining yet...I could watch them for hours.
The zoo isn't too pricey and is great value. There are plenty of staff talks and feeding talks to keep you entertained the entire day through.
Great day out :)

i visited South Lakes on Wednesday with my husband and our ten year old nephew having seen it listed within the Tesco Days Out voucher system, (which meant we used our clubcard vouchers to by tokens and therefore didn't pay anything for our admission) and although the gloriously sunny weather obviously helped we had a fantastic day out! This truly is a great family day out as you get much closer to the animals than at most zoos and wildlife parks. The ring tailed lemurs wander around the park freely, the tamarins can bee seen in the trees around their enclosure, you can even walk through some of the animal enclosures which allows you to get close up to the animals. The tiger, giraffe, lemur and penguin feeding times are a must! There are plenty of outdoor areas to eat your picnic as well as a cafe/restaurant on site and an indoor picnic area. The park isn't big but they really do utilize the space, yet the animals all still have nice, clean, spacious enclosures. You can tell that they truly care about the animals and their conservation in the wild, as they strive to educate people on the plight of these beautiful creatures without forcing it upon you. I would recommend this place to anyone, with or without the tesco days out tokens, as its worth every penny!

This is one of my favorite Zoo's. A large range of animals with times throughout the day where you can hand feed the animals. Really nice day out.
