Had dinner here on the last night of our holiday and it didn't disappoint! Tasty fresh woodfired pizzas with the most amazing pizza bases! Bellisimo!

I dont how this place is still operating. My wife and I went there on a Scoopon that was given to us so we didnt have to pay anything. I feel that we still ripped off.
Lets start with the couple of good points. First the service was good, mind you we got in there at 5.45pm and there was only 4 others in at the time so really that almost doesnt count. The last good point was that my pasta dish had a nice flavor. Thats it. Now for the bad.
The Menu had white out tape over several dishes. It was old and dirty and the tape was coming off in parts and sticking all over the menu in other places and the place was dirty and need a good clean
Main Course. I had the pasta ( $27.00. Maybe about $15.00 worth of value ) with chicken and sausage in a tomato sauce. Like I said, good flavor and I found the 1 bit of chicken. However I failed to locate the sausage so was somewhat disappointed with that. My wife had a pizza( $28.00.Maybe $17.00 would of been a reasonable price. ) Flavor ok. Topping was half hearted. A pile of Artichoke in 1 spot then nothing. 2 pieces of chorizo ( maybe one bit belonged in my pasta) and some fresh tomato.
Dessert. I ordered a Sticky Date pudding.( $18.00. Perhaps the most expensive food item pound for pound I have ever eaten ) It was a Sara Lee "slice" no bigger than a fish finger and served cold. Truly unbelievable. My wife had the banana and strawberry pizza ( $28.00. Not worth anything ) It was dried out and over cooked to the point of combusting, and the toppings where confined to a small circular area in the middle of the base. The banana and strawberry topping had been diced to within an inch of their lives and so were completely shriveled. There was no base sauce, no swirl of any sweet liquid not even a dusting of icing sugar to try to present it. I have no idea of how a Chef ( ? ) could let something that hideous out of his kitchen. Must have nil pride. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, the singularly most horrible thing I have ever been served in a restaurant.
With a warm beer and a white wine the bill came to $116.00. Like I said, lucky we had a free scoopon so we didnt have to pay anything. It wasnt a nice experience.
Please do not go there. You have been warned.

I had to give it one star for everything because Trip Advisor doesnt recognize that you want to give it no stars. So for us it actually gets 0 stars for everything except the service

Hi westozman,

Good day, this is Nathan, the new owner/manager of The Woodpeckers Restaurant (since mid 2014). Many things have changed since we took over the restaurant 2 and a half years ago, we started from scratch as the previous owner did a runner and left the restaurant deserted. We then slowly worked our way up with a completely new team and new menu, the restaurant is also now relocated next to St Joseph Cathedral in Subiaco at 20/3 Wexford Street.
We would like to invite you and you family over to enjoy a lunch/dinner with 2 complimentary woodfired pizzas and hopefully will change your opinion about the restaurant.
Please kindly let us know if you'd like to accept this offer.

Regards,
Nathan Teo

Prices are what you would expect to pay for fine dining in Perth where you get good table service, the table has a tablecloth on it and linen napkins. Like the price of the fish of the day $45. Pasta with prawns $29 which I ordered and if it wasn't so salty I doubt I could've kept eating it. Seriously, my partner had prawns and scallops on a bed of couscous which was literally 6 prawns and 2 scallops and that was $41. The rustic wood table and cast iron based wooden chairs were not what you would expect for dining with prices like this and the chairs were so heavy to pull out to be seated. Even the desert an icecream Sundae...how can you stuff that up? Well if you can, they did. Presentation could've been in a nice boat with nice rounded scoops of ice-cream and syrup and nuts on the top but no no, it was in a milkshake glass with ice-cream carved out of the container and the syrup sunk to the bottom of the glass. The ice-cream wasn't even good quality creamy ice-cream, I wreckon it must've been the cheapest vanilla ice-cream they could find and the syrup was just milkshake syrup. The beer was put down for my partner to drink out of the bottle so he asked for a glass. The waitress came to clear the table next to ours just as my husband was eating the last mouthful of his main course so she turned around and asked if we were enjoying our meal, that all happened way too late and was just an aside to her collecting the plates. My partner then finished his last mouthful and we sat and sat and sat until eventually I waivered the waitress to come over and asked her to take the plates. I then beckoned her again to ask her to bring me the desert menu. When she bought the menu, I then had to ask her to bring another menu for my husband. And, the restaurant wasn't busy at all so don't think the poor service was because they were run off their feet....oh no, the restaurant was less than half full. I looked at the pizzas and the base looked disgusting.....save yourself the misery - dine elsewhere!!!!!
