The owner picked us up at the pier, and gave us a very warm welcome. On the short trip to the hotel - he told us about Koh Mak and showed us the school and some shops.
Up on arriwal to Lazy Day the staff took care of our suitcases, while the hostess informed us about their hotel.
Our bungalow was beachfront - with a nice terrace. The room was clean and nice, our only complaint was the very hard matress.
The bathroom was small - but functional.
In the restaurant they served really good thaifood and great breakfast. Everybody in the staff was smiling, polite and kind - it was a pleasure to stay at Lazy Day.
If you want to take a walk in paradise - let us recommend the 25 minuts walk along the beautifull white Beach to the pier. Near by the pier you can find some small shops - and small supermarkets.
Holiday on Lazy Day is really relaxion all day long, take a swim - go snorkling - or maybe a power nap under a palm tree.
Lazy Day is really a place to go back to ♥

We had ten days at this resort, and I hardly know where to start in praise of it. We stayed in the large bungalow which was right near the beach, was large, spotlessly clean with fridge, ensuite, fan, and air con. The lighting was superb and there were plenty of electrical points for charging phones etc. You were provided with deckchairs to take on to the lovely sandy beach.

The bungalows are set in beautiful well kept gardens and the whole place was really peaceful. Swimming in the warm water was a joy, and there were plenty of fish to see on the little reef just off the shore.

The owner An and his wife couldn't have been more helpful and arranged all transport for us and snorkelling trips, and a massage on a veranda in the gardens. They even provided some magic 'yellow oil' (secret recipe!) for my husband when he had an upset stomach - and it worked a treat. They both seem to have a good relationship with all their staff, who were always kind and helpful with a smile on their faces.

The food was excellent, especially the breakfast which was very generous. If you just fancied a change for eating, the nearby Komak Seafood restaurant will arrange for you to be picked up and brought back.

We love Komak Island. It is very laid back and unspoilt and we would definitely go back to Lazy Day Resort. A really good chill out place.

Room Tip: All the bungalows seemed excellent.

Mr Ann, his Wife and the staff took great care of us and our company of 6. We had a wonderfull stay with perfectly located bungalows next to the Beach and a great simple but oh so tasty restaurant. Highly recommended!

A lovely resort right on the beach with beautiful tropical gardens. The bungalows are a reasonable size with sunlounges on the front balcony. Very easy to relax & spend a few days swimming & exploring the island. You do need to be able to walk (or ride a bike) though as no shops etc close by.
After visiting a few other islands in the Gulf, Koh Mak is our favourite & we will return.
The owners are very friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: Get a front bungalow closest to the beach.

We last stayed at the Lazy Day resort in Feb 2012. We decided to return here because we wanted to totally relax and do very little. We were so pleased to find that very little had changed since we last visited two years ago. Fortunately unlike a lot of places I have been back to in Thailand, the rate of development here is very slow because the island is primarily owned by only 5 families. Apart from a few small shops opening, there have been no further resorts built. This really appeals to us because the island has maintained its laid back charm. The service at Lazy Day remains excellent, all the staff are attentive and so friendly and cannot be faulted. We stayed longer at Lazy Day resort this time rather than choosing to split our beach time between Koh Mak and Koh Kood, so we spent more time exploring the island and what it has to offer. It was interesting to speak with the owner about life on the island and the island's history.

The bungalows and the gardens are still very well maintained and we loved to hear the sound of the waves whilst we laid in bed. The beds are very hard and I can't say that i get the best nights sleep; although my husband thought the beds were comfy, i suppose its down to personal preference.

We spent most of our time chilling out and eating, mainly at the resorts restaurant and we ate out twice locally. Whilst i note that some reviewers have mentioned that Lazy Day is a little more expensive than other places, we don't find the difference significant. For us the fact that we only had to walk a short distance for a guarenteed good meal was a big bonus. We stayed 8 nights and our food and drinks bill, which you pay at the end was £180.00. This included one or two course lunches, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and two or three course evening meals. Breakfast is included in the room rate. The nightly rate also hasn't changed since we last stayed, it was actually cheaper for us this time due to the weakness of the Baht against pound sterling. We did tend to stock up with drinks from the local shops because they are cheaper.

The slight issue we had during our stay was one of the other resorts was playing loud music on three nights. Fortunately it stopped early on (10pm), but it was a bit annoying when the resort is usually so tranquil. I don't know if there is much the owner could do about this, or even if it is a regular occurrence.

Lazy Day Resort was for us one of our favourite spots in Thailand. Ann and his staff were very attentive and the bungalows and grounds of the resort were ideal for a very relaxing and pleasant vacation. Koh Mak is not an island for party goers but for people who enjoy uncrowded beaches and peaceful surroundings. The food at the restaurant was always delicious. We would highly recommend Lazy Day Resort!

Had stayed at the resort twice before. This trip the resort was still beautiful and the staff and management were wonderful but big groups of families and big groups of friends with families unfortunately meant the resort was more crowded and noisier.
One of the large friends and family groups in particular really did not consider the atmosphere of the resort and was completely inconsiderate to other guests. They were nearly twenty of them and they acted as though they owned the resort and yet it seemed they were staying in (and thus only paying for) just three bungalows. They let off fireworks late at night on New Year's Eve on the beach a few meters from our bungalow. I understand that it was new Year's Eve but there are only 12 bungalows here where people go to enjoy peace and quiet. These guests smoked around the resort leaving their cigarette butts all over the resort - on the beach and on tables meant for all the guests to use - and left empty beer bottles and coke cans around the resort too. They shouted at each other from their bungalows (in the second row!) to the beach. I believe they were Swedish. Had not seen a group of people behave so rudely before.
There were no bicycles for rent at the resort this year. We were advised to go to a nearby resort to rent bicycles but they didn't have any in working condition either.
Several people were stung by jellyfish this year. There were nets on the beach but they had big holes in them. Most people were actually stung in the netted area.
As mentioned above, some things hadn't changed - the gardens were beautiful, the staff were polite and helpful, and the food was still very good. But the atmosphere was completely different. Hope the resort can manage to return to being peaceful and relaxing!
