We found a piece of crap as our welcome gift (see pictures), dirty floors with random stains and dust bunnies, we had to remake the bed and an angering unapologetic first call when we reported the status of the room.
Long story:
We checked in (2 rooms, 2 couples), both rooms very disappointing. The second room was for my parents who are visiting Jordan for the first time. They are our guests and we thought paying $200 per night will get us a quality stay.
Our room has a special surprise, we found a piece of crap waiting for us on top of the hand held bidet water spray (literally, see picture).
The floors: dust bunnies were all over the floor (maybe for entertainment), with a few coffee stains around the room (I prefer not to discuss the white colored stains near the head of the bed).
Within 10 minutes, I called the reception and mentioned what we found, and without even an apology they just said: “we will send house keeping to check”, as if we were lying. 15 minutes later, they call to ask “is everything okay”. This is when we changed our tone and we start leaving the room, and we meet the house cleaning staff in the hallway.
To the staffs credit, they tried to resolve it by upgrading us to a bigger room on the 3rd floor. To the staffs credit, they tried to resolve it by upgrading us to a bigger room on the 3rd floor. We went up with a couple of the staff - who were polite and apologetic. Once again, dirty floors, we were kicking around dust bunnies and dirt on the floor, with no sea view. We refused, as we paid for sea view and clean rooms.
Resolution: they upgraded our room to a freshly cleaned suite.
We gave the suite to my 70 year old parents, who are visiting Jordan for the first time and took their room instead.
The disappointment does not end here! The other room has a barely made up bed (here is my boyfriend fixing the bottom sheet so we can sleep the night, see picture). And the floors were full of coffee and other unidentified stains, and a few dust bunnies.
That’s our story for the first 3 hours of the $200 per night Crown Plaza stay. Too tired after a long day at Wadi Rum, we called it a night and will request a cleaning in the morning of the current room we are in.
A quick piece of advice: If you have guests visiting Jordan for the first time and would like them to have a good impression of the country, choose any other hotel!
