“Holiday in Dead Sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2012

for Christmas holiday me and my husband went to Jordan Amman and spent there about 8 nights,
It was a very good hotel but was very far away from the city and from the airport about 2 hours not as they say in their website.. and we got lost couples of times to reach the hotel.
The room we stayed in at first was in the main building not good at all: small bath room, so noisy and the view of the see was not that clear, but then we asked them to change it to a quiet area which is the village.. me and my husband liked a lot large space and the bath room was larger too. beside you can sleep very well there.
the food sometimes was good and sometimes was not.. so it depends on what you order..
the hotel has multiple restaurants there but very expensive... most of the time we asked for room service...
the stuff were so welcoming but you kind feel annoying from the security check every time we went out or came back..
we also had nice couple massage time at Zara Spa .. it was an interesting experience !!!
if I could go to Jordan again I would choose a hotel in middle of Amman and hire a car with a driver.
one thing you should put in mind ...It's very expensive country every thing cost double price of what you get use ... so prepare your credit card :( !!!!

Room Tip: "ask for village rooms..they are very quieter" "try as much as you can to eat outsid...

Dear valued Guest,

Greetings from Moevenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea,

We would like to thank you for your comment and appreciated your feedback.
Your comfort and well-being are always our highest priorities.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the various shortcomings you so kindly pointed out. Sharing your experience give us the opportunity to enhance our quality and to do better in the future.
Also, I appreciate your recomendation to the new visitor in Jordan. You are right to mention our different type of rooms. Standard and superior rooms in the main building with or without sea view. The deluxe room are located in the village area, a bit larger they a have a nice access and view to the garden. Our premium rooms have a private swiming pool. The Beach rooms have terrace with sea view. A large choice.
The price in Jordan could be similar than in Europe especillay in five star hotel for the beverages, food and special treatment but the room price is really affordable for the area.
Finnaly, to do not be lost on the road, i also recommend to rent a car with driver. Road map, signage and GPS are not very helpful.

All of us were delighted to be of service to you and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Mövenpick Resort and Spa Dead Sea in the not too distant future.
Yours truly,

The hotel itself was excellent. Stylish and modern and a great place to explore the Dead Sea. The rooms were clean and well appointed, difficult to find fault. The food was adequate, but nothing exceptional.

The service left something to be desired. A few of the waiters were less than respectful, one one occasion a waiter threw a tantrum because there was confusion over a drink that I ordered. We stayed in over Moevenpick hotels during our trip in Jordan and found the service to be excellent, so not sure why there is an issue here. Do not let this put you off though, I would recommend using this hotel to explore the Dead Sea and would return again.

Floating in the Dead Sea is a great experience, definitely worth including as part of a trip.

This was a great place to spend the night. We only spent one night and that is plenty. We floated in the dead sea and then just enjoyed the resort. Very fun pool and great for adults or kids. We would stay again.

On a recent trip to Jordan we stayed in three Moevenpick Hotels, (Petra, Aqaba and the Dead Sea). Petra and Aqaba were faultless, lovely food, fresh produce, attentive staff, very clean hotels - a real 5 star experience.
I liked this hotel for its character and the hotel site with the pools and treatment areas is superb. Sadly it does appear to have a real catering problem. We too had the buffet which was awful, and such a shame for a county brimming with fresh produce! If I remember rightly it was 24JD each (1JD = £) and it was sad, sappy, tasteless blah. The thing here is that the resort is isolated so your other choices are the other hotels such as the Marriott or the Kempinski (deserted apart from a few UN vehicles!). The restaurant and bar staff appear untrained and lacking in confidence so I feel it is more of a management problem then anything else. I have given feedback to Moevenpick about the catering and I hope they manage to improve it because the hotel is lovely.

Room Tip: When you check in please state you would like your room not to overlook the car park!

We stayed at the resort last week and it was a very beautiful place and the staff were wonderful. We were also upgraded to a deluxe room. However the eating options were grossly overpriced and limited, especially the dinner buffet. Also we wanted to go on a trip to Petra and we could only do this with Hertz which was a very expensive option. Normal taxis were not allowed to come to the hotel, and tours with a party of people were not offered.

On the other hand I was concerned with the comments you made regarding the eating options and the price. Our Arabian village is organized with 9 restaurants & bars. During the winter time, which is very short in Jordan some of them are closed. 6 of them remain open on daily bases. We keep the buffet restaurant as a first option to satisfy our guest. In this regards, we select the best quality of product to ensure our guest expectations. However, sharing your experience give us the opportunity to enhance our quality and to do better in the future.

A hotel is more than just a building. It is an experience. Breathtaking views, a delicious variety of foods in large portions, music and laughter filling the background, jazz performers and belly dancers center stage, smiles, stories, and friendship with my favorite bartender, and hospitality that can only be explained as Jordan, are what you will discover at the lowest point on earth in the midst of mountains at the beautiful Movenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea. It is an amazing experience that I know I will never forget.

Room Tip: Request a sea view. Absolutely amazing!
