“very nice hotel”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

we stayed in alba resort in 11.9.-21.9.2012. we were party of 6 aged 25-30 and came looking for relaxed holiday.

rooms : clean, i found beds comfortable, all equipment we needed was present. there is a closet with quite a lot of hangers (we had like 14 or so), one smaller cabinet, a safe box, a refrigerator (filled with new bottles daily), TV, electric kettle with variety of tea and coffee, hair dryer, bath tub. i found bed quite comfortable and slept well.

drinks : we missed rum in AI quite a lot since we use to drink cuba libre on our holidays. however we quickly got used to gin+tonic which worked just fine =) beer was good, wine not so much (with exception of sparkling wine). still drinkable with cola.

food : i have never went hungry. even though food is quite repetitive, i have never had to force myself into eating with "not this food again" thought in my head. however it seemed like meat is more often than not overcooked.

service : all the staff was very polite and tried hard to help but sometimes struggled with english. there were few bartenders where we just placed our orders in german because it was so much simpler. i would like to mention Barisante who was my favorite bartender.

animation : there are all sorts of activities included in animation program. we have participated in darts, archery and air rifle. animation team is always in good mood, funny and never boring (shoutout to Mustafa and Yaki). also, don't win air rifle competition - Yaki will make you do the victory belly dance =) evening shows are quite nice and in english.

grounds : very nice, a lot of flowers, kept clean. we enjoyed walking around the hotel very much. there is a little zoo with some funny looking chickens, monkeys, ponies and parrots.

pools : clean and big enough. loungers are plentiful, no need to get up at 5am to get one. we usually arrived to the pool at 8-9 after breakfast and almost always got our favorite spot at relaxing pool. inflatables are allowed in pools.

beach : clean, sandy, no need to take shoes into water. it's also pretty shallow and you can reach the bottom quite far from coast. we didn't do any watersports.

random thoughts : bus boy who took our luggage into our room was so blatantly awaiting tip that it almost made me not to give him any. other than that tips were not necessary to get what you wanted even if it meant waiting a little longer. we've left tips here and there anyway. turkish tea is very good, make sure to try it. at dinner go into room on the right, service seemed to be faster there than in central room.

final words : very nice hotel, clean, helpful staff. the only people problems we had were with other guests who were extremely rude (3 incidents, very unpleasant but well...not something hotel can control. but overall other guests were polite and nice). would i come back? without hesitation. would i recommend the hotel to friends? definitely. it may not be your top notch 5* luxury hotel, but it's still very nice family resort where everyone of every age can have a nice time.

We spent 10 very! relaxed days at the Alba Resort in Early September.
First I must commend the staff and the service they provide.
The room although on the small side was perfectly adequate for my Wife and I . It was in good repair and clean! The beds were comfortable if a bit narrow. Air Con very quiet.Wifi was good, and we could get it in our room. We both slept well.
We spent most of our time at the quiet pool, there were always plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It was very relaxed and calm for most of the time, although we had a few 'noisy neighbours' on a couple of days, but nothing to worry about.
We were disapointed with the food. The main restaurant was a bit chaotic, the layout around the carvery should be better organised. The staff do their level best to provide a good service, however this is undermined by the poor organisation. The food as stated in other reviews is aimed to a German / Eastern European palate, and although we always managed to find somthing to eat at every meal, we were quite often 'making do'. Lunches were best at the Beach Bar, although we had to queue on more than one occaision to get a seat.
.
The beach was sandy, had a lovely walk, in the early morning at sun rise, (nice and cool).
We had one meal in the Italian Restaurant, which was excellent and the service 5 star. We also had an evening meal in a local restaurant in Colakli. To get to it we turned left out of the main entrance walked down hill past some local shops, crossed at the T junction to where it is situated. ( Can't remember the name). We had a great meal, mixed grill of different kebab / Turkish meat dishes, with salad dips pitta etc, all served with great panashe and much good humour. A highlight of our stay.
The drink, not good. Although the Larger was fine, we found the Red wine in the buffet restaurant undrinkable, the same with the white. (The wine served in the Italian Restaurant was fine). The sparkling wine was ok, but think this was the worste A.I. for drink we have so far encountered. I ended up watering the wine down to make it drinkable.
The grounds were immaculate, the 'Zoo' a pleasant distraction.
The evening entertainment was generally of a good standard, the usual lip sinking to West End shows, but with a bit of class.
Despite my moans about food and drink, we did have 10 very relaxed, and enjoyable days at The Alba, the staff were excellent , and should be proud of the service the provide to guests.

Following a holiday to Turkey two years ago we decided to return this year for a relaxing fortnight in the Sun. Having researched heavily on TripAdvisor we booked the best looking hotel we could find, considering our booking was very late.

Firstly, it has to be said that the service is absolutely fantastic. The staff are a credit to the hotel. The animation team in particular are brilliant; Yusuf, Osman, Mustafa, Yaki, Mr Bean and the others. Constantly full of energy, if you're looking for something to do they'll never let you down. The waiting staff are also excellent - exceedingly polite and often pre-emptive with refilling wine glasses or asking if you'd like a new drink. A few people have said that their English is poor, and sometimes that is admittedly true, but you do feel like they're really trying their hardest.

The rooms are quite good - we had previously stayed in a Voyage hotel in Torba where the rooms were immaculate but very small. The room is reasonably sized with quiet air conditioning - although on the 18th this seemed to have been disabled centrally. The beds are reasonably comfortable, although my dad found the pillows uncomfortable. The cover (sheet) is very thin and can be a bit scratchy; not fun if you have a burn. Cleanliness was very good with a nice cleaner (although she kept dropping hints that she'd like a tip!).

The pools were colder than those in previous hotels we've visited - going in was something of a commitment, and my mum ended up staying out (whereas on our last holiday we would be in and out of the pools constantly). The quiet pool is wonderfully quiet and there's lots of shade, perfect if you're looking for a relaxing holiday. The main pool is nice and there's often something going on there (although if you don't want to get involved, the activities only ever take part in about 1/3 of the pool, and you can go to the other side of the little island and be completely away from the activities). The bar by the main pool is lovely, the food repetitive - burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pide breads and salads.

The beach is lovely - wonderful sandy beach, which unfortunately means that the sea becomes very murky as the day goes on and the waves pick up. Get down there early though - this is a German dominated hotels so the sun beds Will go! Beach bar is set up the hill a bit, and the menu changes. Had some lovely stuff down here - the pizzas are wonderful.

The main restaurant was a big disappointment. The selection is very limited - 10 hot dishes under the heater (always including pasta, pasta sauce, rice and a chicken dish). There is a grill in the centre that basically just does grilled chicken/turkey every day. The food is noticeably aimed towards Germans, and in the two weeks there was only one night I can say that it was above average. Very repetitive. Great if you're German and/or like pasta, or rice and beef every day.

Good location - short trip into Side which we Highly recommend. Beautiful ruins and wonderful history if you're into seeing things like that. Even if not, the shops are a bit nicer and the harbour's lovely. Look around for some of the smaller cafes and the prices drop quite a bit.

Overall the hotel is good, but I certainly wouldn't say it's excellent. We enjoyed our time here but won't be returning (although 41% of guests are returning guests!). If you're young and looking for a fun holiday with lots going on, Alba Resort is brilliant and I would recommend it. If you're here with very small children, again, I could recommend it. However if you're looking for fine dining, luxury or pampered service then you would be better off looking elsewhere.

>>>>WARNING: Do NOT pay for anything extra on your card. Another English family were told that the pool table cost 1Euro an hour, and were actually charged 15 Lira an hour, mounting to a surprise £80 bill. The hotel will lie about prices it seems. <<<<<

Room Tip: Block 9 is very quiet - try and request it if possible. You may not get any sea views being in a lan...

Myself and my family and some friends stayed here in early August. It was an 11 day holiday that was enjoyable from beginning to end. The hotel facilities were excellent, the room was kept clean and the fridge was replenished each day with cold soft drinks. The wifi extended far and wide which was an added bonus. The staff were generally very helpful although some struggled to understand at times. The fun was in the trying. The animation team were all enthusiastic and entertaining. They tried to get people involved in the various activities but without being overly pushy. They were very good at remembering guest's names.
The local shops are as you would expect...........very much the same and quite keen to get you in. Be ready to barter HARD and don't give in. They will chase you along the street if they want a sale. Not sure if there were bargains to be had, but successful bartering felt like a victory.
The food was plentiful and as long as you are not too fussy you won't be disappointed. Vegetarians may struggle a bit although if you tell reception they can make arrangements to cook something else, ie omelette or some other suitable vegetarian dish.
The Italian and fish restuarants were ok, although the air conditioning in the Italian wasn't working when we were there so it was quite hot in there. Good for a change though.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone hoping for a holiday where you can choose how relaxing or busy you want it to be.
Even in August we never had any problem getting sunbeds. We strolled down after breakfast, swapped our old towels for fresh ones and went to our position by the pool with no difficulty at all.
Give it a go...................you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Try to get a non corner room as the air con units are quite noisy although you do get used to it aft...

We stayed for the week September 6th to13th, which was our second visit and won't be our last. From the moment we arrived (Abdullah is some Bell-Boy!) we were made to feel welcome and we were touched that staff remembered us, like a family reunion! Rooms are excellent, well maintained daily and there is a good choice of Pools and eating areas. Food choices in the main Restaurant are of a very good standard and plenty of variety. My wife is not a meat-eater and was spoilt for choice. We had an excellent evening in the A La Carte Italian Restaurant. The Pool Bar area was superb: thanks to Filiz, Merve,Nasmi, Ahmet and Saban, but all staff are a credit to this hotel. We went mainly for relaxation and to catch-up on our reading, but enjoyed the efforts of the AnimationTeam during the evening.
There was a Turkish Wedding on the Football field on the Saturday evening, and we watched the build-up with interest during the day. We counted space for 940 guests and the actual event was spectacular, but all cleared away by the next morning - quite an achievement!
The grounds are well-maintained and we like the little zoo areas, which, with the 2 little ponies, must be lovely for any children. Our view is that this hotel caters for all ages. Some friends of ours went elsewhere in Side and their tales made us appreciate how fortunate we had been with our choice.
We went to Side on the Dolmus, which collects about every 15 minutes outside the front of the hotel and costs 7 liras for 2 people. It's about 8-10 miles and worth a visit, but be aware that there is not so much cover from the heat when you get there. It's easy getting a return Dolmus and a Taxi would cost considerably more.
This is a lovely resort and all our Turkish trips, 4 now, has convinced us that they are genuinely lovely people. You won't be disappointed if you decide to stay here.

First impressions count dont they, on check in we were given a lovely little macaroon and cold drink as we were filling out the forms that was lovely.
I explained that i am allergic to mozies and asked not to be on the ground floor with all the bushes and without any hassle was given a room on the third floor (surrounded by trees and trailing bushes ha)
I found the hotel to be well thought out in respect of space, queues and eating they have 2 big pools with lots of empty sunbeds as there was loads of sun beds down the beach so there was no overcrowding. The hill back up from the beach is very steep!!
You could eat at the main restaurant or the other 2 pool bars or the beach and of an evening you could eat in the main restaurant which was like a tardis or al a carte fish or italian which meant that there was no queues. The food on offer was very good and of a high standard and enjoyable.
The only thing that i didnt like about the hotel and would be the only thing stopping me going back would be that i found us the english not very well attended to in hindsight this may be that the staff can mainly speak german or dutch. For instance we would sit around the reception bar of a night and on the AI menu you are allowed 5 different cocktails however 85-90% of other nationalities were treated to glorious cocktails i watched as other english people asked for a different glorious cocktail and they would be referred back to the 5 on the AI list.
When we came to check out the lady said ok thank you and that was that even though we could see at the side of the reception there were little boxes of farewell gifts which we had read about on trip advisor after striking up a conversation with the bell boy whilst waiting for our transfer the bell boy did give us a farewell gift and yet another english couple waiting for transfer on another table were not offered a gift.

Its just not very nice to be aware about especially when we have never experienced this before!!

Hotel please put signs for the toilets they are very few and far between.

Dont be put off by my review as you will have a lovely time at this clean well run hotel.

If i can help with any questions please ask.

This was our third visit to Turkey, the Hotel is very nice, rooms are very basic but have everything you need and are kept very clean. We was in a party of 12 and found the bar staff didnt cope very well with orders of 4 or more drinks! Food was very nice and ok if your on a weeks stay but after two weeks things tend to be repeated quite often. The kids loved the pool and slides and the hotel has the added bonus of a zoo which is mainly birds and rabbits and theres a couple of monkeys, kids thought it was great. The beach is a little walk away but its a nice walk and you could stop off at the beach bar on your way! By far the best part of the holiday was the entertainment team, they do a fantastic job of keeping the guests amused, they are not pushy like ive experienced in the past. The pool games are very funny and there is a whole range of activities throughout the day including darts, football, archery you can even learn to belly dance, so there is no chance of getting board!!! The shows in the evening were of a very high standard, these guys work so hard. Happy memories have been brought home of the fantastic people we met, Mustafa, Kemal, Joseph and Barbie are just a few to mention, thankyou for making our holiday one to remember!

Room Tip: We were in Block 6, we could hear the music at night but not to load to disturb sleep.
