“Fantastic family holiday”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We have just returned from the Alba resort (11 August), a family of 2 adults and a 6 year old child. We spent 12 glorious nights at the resort and have to say it was one of the nicest places we have ever visited, cetainly the best in eurpoe. It was our first holiday to Turkey and I was extremely dubious to say the least however now I would return to Turkey any time, infact I am in the process of trying to book this hotel for next year if only the reservation system online would give me some prices!!! (please!) By far the trump card for this hotel is their Animation team who work day and night to make your holiday special, they are funny and attentive without being pushy which is an extremely hard thing to do! A special mention goes to Kamill and Joseph (get well soon Joseph!) who were the funnies double act since morcombe and wise! I can honestly say I have not laughed so much in years. The team put in so much effort and the shows they perform are not your usual low rate shows they are actually so proffesional and the dancing and choriograpy were amazing. The beach party was amazing and like nothing I had ever seen before and the sheer effort and organisation that went into everything they did really showed!

The pool area was amazing and always clean, yes there were a couple of loose tiles but one evening whilst walking back from dinner we saw some unruly teenagers that I am ashamed to say were English actualy pulling up the tiles and vandalising the pool, their parents should be ashamed and this is NOT the hotels fault, the very next morning we saw someone from the hotel maintainance snorkiling in the pool trying to fix the vandalism and to be honest what was the alternative, to drain and close the pool would have caused the guests more inconvenience. There were a few children with ear infections, my son included but most people who travel abroad in the very hot months of july and august will be fully aware that the heat in a pools can cause chmicals to be less effective, my advise would be to have your children use earplugs as soon as they arrive at the hotel to aliviate this problem.

Temperatures were in the 40's whilst we were there but air conditioning in the room and main areas was great. The food was brilliant, always 4 types of meat on at evening meal and more food than I could ever list on here. Food at the beach bar was amazing and the view whilst eating your lunch was great. Pool snack bar as ok try the turkish flatbreads they are yummy!! Breakfast was obviously not your full English but keep in mind you are in a Muslim country and sausages were a no no, we did however have bacon a couple of times which was nice! We tried the Italian food and service amazing however they had a problem with the air conditioning this particualr evening and it was a little too hot up there for us!

My only small critisism of this brilliant hotel is that a couple of the barstaff let it down, the waiters in the resteraunt were excellent however a couple of the male barstaff who flitted between the pool bar and lobby bar in the evenings were less than pleasant and I beleive that they need to address this as they appeared to be a weak link in a very strong team.On reflection we should have mentioned this but did not want to complain as we were having an amazing time!

Just returned from this hotel after 10 day holiday with family and wanted to give my opinion while fresh in my mind.
I thought hotel generally very good for the price paid however there where some things not so good,Pool was very bad,a whole section of tiles was not fixed down properly on the bottom of pool resulting in at least one person cutting their toe,all the grout between the tiles of the whole (noisy) pool that should be white was black with algae growth,at least 15 people that i know of hard ear infections because of in my opinion poor chemical control. The other (quiet) pool is starting to go the same way.
All the staff are brilliant and work very hard to make your stay as nice as possible, the food was rather strange at times but there was always something to eat, we used both the fish and Italian restaurants and enjoyed both.Entertainment was very good and the team where not pushy.

The hotel is yes very clean and well looked after.Reception is air conditioned with a bar serving drink tea and coffee and local spirits, soft drinks foc. FROZEN fruit drinks well recommended alcoholic or non foc( try the cherry sour brain freeze but worth it). International spirits at extra charge but local is as good all served 27/7. WiFi also available in lobby .we were in room 7105 and we couldn't get connection..
Rooms are a good size for party of three (2 adults 1 child ) on a bed sofa.sat TV,fridge( restocked very day with soft drinks(pepsi ,fanta, sprite still water and sparkling) kettle. Limited number of hanger (take some) and draw space. Three beach towel were provided so no need to take with you save the weight(one per person in your room).theses can be exchanged every day if required down by the pool bar 0800-1200
Bathroom. small but hay you have a shower, clean your teeth. and go the loo. enough said. But please only one person at a time lol.Hair dryer also provided. Towels changed every day if you want.
Food The hotel cater more for the German market with lots of salad, cold meats .
breakfast full range of cereals, cold meat, yoghurt, cheeses, salad, Soup (yes I said SOUP).Bread all kinds, jams, honey, Greek yoghurt, fruit (dried and fresh).Mixed veg, German sausage, freshly made omelets, fried eggs(on request) and hot pancake's Recommended.
coffee all kinds and many types of tea. fruit juice from a machine. fresh orange juice 3 Euros charged to your room. scrambled eggs please Avoid.
Dinner three areas . main restaurant serving cold meat, yoghurt, cheeses, salad, Soup and different hot veg, with possibly three or four main fish, meat chicken or pasta choices. OK
Pudding table is very large take you pick. All are buffet serve yourself.

Beach front restaurant servers from 12.00-18.00 again two menus changed daily.
dolphin bar very limited choice ie two main ,chips and soup.tea, coffee and a bar service.for those who want just to soak up the sun and not walk to far lol.
In all the area the waiting staff are very prompt in take drinks orders, and are always on hand to top you up.Kids are treated just the same as us with respect.Big Big tick in the box.
Your food is served in good time also.
You can also eat in the fish restaurant (didn't try cant comment) And the Italian restaurant once a week .Italian was ok .five courses not all the dishes were pipping hot.staff straight way offers to take away and exchange 10/10 for 1/1 service. Not for kids under say under 12 as its a very LIMITED menu for them.
One negative the staff are friendly BUT there English is not the best. German Excellent.
Pools x3 one large with the animation team always fun and games going on and the slides.
quite pool still big with the dolphin bar.these two pool also have baby pools by there sides.
Block 5 has a 15m pool OMG its bracing. And as for the jacuzzi be brave be very brave its cold.
Block 5 also has a gym looks OK. And a spar centre can't comment as didn't use rep expressed it was expensive?
Beach Great Showers, toilets, fresh flat bread made to order, fruit drinks, tea and coffee.
beach is well looked after clean and tidy with its own water sports run by the Alba hotels.
Expensive but fun. Jet skies, banana boat rings and para-sailing.
No problem getting a sun bed at all the pools are the beach any time of the day.
Rep ; best welcome meeting we have been too short, sharp and to the point. And didn't push the trips on us.handed out the price list and some info and that was it OMG they are EXPENSIVE. If you take my advice work out the price of your wanted trip say rafting @ £45 per head ( no reduction for kids).Then walk out of the ALBA resort Turn left cross the road go down the hill to see Enver at the Okmen travel agency.HE will look after you and your wallet you can save hundred of pounds for the same trips. It will take you no more than five mins to prove me right or wrong. We went on three trips;
Rafting,Jeep safari and the water park all are a must.
Rafting the water is very cold (down from the mountains) you may get pushed in,and you will have a laugh. safe for young children from the age of 5. The guides are Excellent English speaking.lunch is provided Chicken kebab ,rice , couscous and water melon for pudding. Extras are photo ,dvd, soft drinks and beer. long ride to get there and back But well worth it.
Jeep Safari.Fantastic Full day out. Don't miss out on this one. lunch included.extras the same as the rafting. Please do this trip if its the only one you do.
Water park .its a water park what more can i say.
work out your cost for trips with your rep price guide. Then go see Enver as in John Denver.say Dave sent you from the alba and he will look after you .
YOU will save money i promise you.
over all great holiday weather in the hight 90's plus.
Have a great holiday.

The hotel operates strangely early hours for one which claims to be 24 hour all inclusive. Dinner service ends at 9:30 pm when food and diners are quickly cleared away. We found the meal choices to be severely limited and often it was a struggle to put together an acceptable meal. Twice at dinner I had only soup. Breakfasts were similar, bacon on offer only one day in 3, no sausage at all, a lot of stale bread on offer and the same huge vats of yoghurt put out every day. One bright light on the food front was the beach bar, serving good lunches quickly in a pretty setting. The 24 hour aspect to the food isn't actually true, because the midnight to 7am sandwiches simply don't exist.
I don't understand reviews talking of sunbed wars. We regularly went out at 11am and found a choice of beds at the quiet pool - the animation pool was busier though. The small water slides are for some reason turned off at 5pm and radomly through the day.
Quite a lot of things are extra cost that I would expect to be included in a quality all-inclusive; cocktails (a few that were included were little more than coloured sugar water), pool tables, table football, bingo night (prizes were a joke considering the money taken) and more.
One last point for anyone choosing to visit - take euro's and not lira - the whole resort and local shops are now taking euros and their own currency seems to be a mystery to them.

Upon arrival at the Alba Resort Hotel, myself and my mother were greeted warmly with the bellboy bringing in our cases and giving us some refreshments. Lovely warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel, all staff are relaxed and very attentive. Animation team are lovely and chatty whilst not putting pressure on guests to join in the daily activities. Evening entertainment was varied and O.K. for an hour or so - standard hotel shows including 'comedy shows', 'election night', 'turkish night' etc. Don't expect a high standard of entertainment - afterall most are not professional dancers! The beach and pool areas were very clean - finding sunbeds on the beach was not difficult at any time of the day despite the stereotype of guests getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve sunbeds as pool towels are between 8am-12noon. The pool area seemed to be where the English sat so we opted for the beach!
Food in the restaurant in the evening was good enough for what we wanted. Buffet style with different meats being grilled daily. We tried the fish restaurant on the beach which was lovely - free of charge. Portions were HUGE and the menu was very safe, offering a wide range of 'well-known' fish e.g. salmon, plaice, seabass etc. Lunch time food is offered at the beach bar, pool bar and main restaurant - we only ate at the beach and pool bar, where both menus were different offering meals such as burgers, fresh pizza, flatbreads, spaghetti bolognese etc.
Hotel room was a reasonable size for 2 people - the bathroom was a tight squeeze but to be honest, I wasn't expecting to do cartwheels around it. Hairdryer, beauty mirror, plasma tv, tea and coffee facilities and safety deposit box (3 lira daily charge) were in the room...no full length mirror though!
Overall the hotel was clean and relaxing for the 7 days we went - some previous reviews complained about the number of German guests...yes the hotel is predominately German speaking but, from past experience, German guests are much nicer than some English families!
Would definately return to this hotel but for a week rather than 2 - just too small with not a lot to do in the nearby town/20 shops and a couple of bars. Contrary to belief, Turkey is a very safe country to visit and at no point did we feel, as 2 women on holiday alone, unsafe or uncomfortable. Be prepared for the Turks to engage you at every opportunity to chat and take you into their shops. This is our 13th trip to Turkey and from experience, barter with every price given, and don't expect the brands to be real!

Room Tip: Rooms in block 8 were very quiet despite them next to the road (the road is for 3 hotels rather than...

Reference a recent negative review from the above, I really cannot believe the review!

We have been to this hotel and are returning this year, because of the fabulous facilities, pool, food, service, rooms and beach. In fact everything about this hotel is superb!

Really can't relate to any of the points made:

Food: fabulous with a great selection daily, presentation beautiful, taste outstanding and service by all waiters was faultless.

Beach Bar: Food again was faultless and lovely selection daily and went here every day. The Flat breads and Pizza were great and tasty.

Walk from Hotel to Beach: What! a lovely walk, through beautifully maintained gardens, past the Childrens Zoo, which only takes a couple of minutes to reach the Beach Bar, where if you are finding it too much to walk for a couple of minutes in the sun, then perhaps a holiday in Turkey is not for you !!!!!

Beach: Drink machines available, free sun beds, freshlly made crepes on the beach, what more would you want?

Rooms: Nothing wrong at all, beautifully clean, towels changed daily and room kept very clean. Plenty of room and fridge replenished free of charge, daily, with soft drinks.
Three of us stayed in one room previously, did not find this too small at all. We also had an adjoining room for other family members and could not hear anything from their room!!!!!

Free of charge Ice Cream daily, in the afternoon, around the pool.

Beautiful pools, including a silent pool if you need to chill

Entertainment great and just light hearted enjoyment, which is all you need on holiday.

Plenty to do for the kids and the animation team are great.

Gala night beautiful and not to be missed, along with the Beach Party - great fun!!!

After reading the negative reviews on this site in July '12, it makes me think that perhaps some people need to holiday in Switzerland or Norway, or somewhere where the temperature is suitable for their needs. Obviously the Blue Flag rating, which puts this Hotel as over rated and the best rated in Colaki, speaks for itself, I think there is no pleasing some people, who seem to have pleasure in finding faults!!!!!

Bathroom: Well personally, I don't need to swing an elephant around, I just shower here !!!!!!

If you going to the Alba, you will have a great holiday, just ignore the negative remarks from professional moaners.

Happy Holidays !!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We asked for a high room with sea or pool view, which is lovely. However last time we had a land vi...

We booked a family room for my wife and I and our 12 year old son. The third bed was a convertable settee, but our son managed to sleep reasonably well on it. Thomas Cook charged and extra fee for the fact it was a child using the third bed rather than an adult which I think was a bit sharp.

We had paid extra for a balcony with a sea view and this was provided. In fact we were delighted to find that the free wi-fi also worked in our room (we'd taken our laptop so our son managed to keep himself amused surfing the Web).

The room (4305) was fine, quiet and the air-conditioner worked well and was pretty quiet too. The fridge in the room was filled by non-alcohlic drinks each day and the drinks were included in our 'all-inclusive' package. The room was in good state of repair, and the bathroom with bath and shower over worked well. There is a safe in the room which is subject to a small charge of around £1 per night (3TL) - well worthwhile.

Towels were changed daily if we wished, but the beach towels had to be taken each day to a change point between the hours of 0800 and 1200.

There are two outdoor pools and one indoor. The outdoor pools were warm while the indoor one was delightfully cooler in the heat of the Turkish summer. The indoor pool also has a jacuzzi which was even colder but bracing.

The Animation team were very active and there was a reasonable choice of activities for adults during the day (archery, pool games, shooting, football, keep fit, volley-ball and others), and the child club was very well attended during the day and the mini-disco had a faithfull following amongst the kids in the evening. Unfortunately there wasn't much to cater for 12-15 year olds, but I guess that is the norm.

There were shows (low quality generally, but well meant) in the outside auditorium each evening and these were well attended despite the high humidity which comes after the sun sets.

Catering was OK with a fairly good choice to suit most palates. The Italian restaurant could be booked once per weekly stay and was worthwhile, however the fish restauarant is outdoors and we got badly affected by the mosquitos as soon as the sun went down, despite wearing insect repellant. There were free drinks available in a number of places, and as well as the main restaurant, snack bars also provided a variety of dishes. The ice-creams served by the main pool from 1500-1800 were always popular. The lobby bar is open 24 hours per day, and was a delightful sight when we arrived in the early hours of the morning - a quick beer and G&T were welcomed ahead of our trip to bed.

The sea was delightfully warm but pretty much sterile, with little sea life to interest snorkellers.

The temperatures were HOT, meaning that we were reluctant to travel anywhere. We did however go into Side on the local transport (€1.75 per person each way) and the ruins were extensive and attractive. We also went into the market at Manvagar near Side which is open on Mondays and Thursdays, again local transport is available just outside the hotel, and comes along every 15 minutes or so. The market is big, but hugely repetitive, however we managed to buy a few things.

The water sports we thought were expensive, for example charging €55 for two of us on the paragliding, which lasted 10 minutes in total.

The resort staff were friendly and while they were sometimes very keen to clear away plates (sometimes even before we were finished eating), the speed of service was good despite the numbers being catered for.

I would recommend the report to families with young children. Personally as our son is a little older, we'd look for alternative venues in future.
