“Northern Souls holiday - Fantastic!..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

We stayed at this hotel from 31st July for 1 week
We are a party of 14, 6 adults and 8 kids. Kids age range from 9 years old to 17 years old.
The Royal Alhambra decor and opulence is definitely 5 star...chandeliers, marble floors and beautiful furniture...grandeur at its best....it is a very large hotel, so it takes a couple days to work out were you are going...
No problem getting sun loungers around the pool, however if you are wanting a particular spot, as we were due the large number in our group, you do have to get up before 8am...
Water slides are fantastic and all the kids in our group thoroughly enjoyed them !..pool was nice and clean and never over crowded... The Towel attendant takes his job very seriously, sometimes his lack of the English language caused a few problems...but nothing major..

Food in main restaurant was really good with a variety of different choices. The food near the pool "Royal Arena" was poor, mainly fried chicken, chips, salad and sometimes pizza....there should of been more choice especially for the younger kids - possibly burgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets ( yes Brirtish..but that's what the younger kids want, so they should really cater for this)...Beach Bar food was off a menu...more choice but only average food, but it did for lunch...
Entertainments Team works tirelessly all day and night and did a fantastic job at keeping the adults and kids entertained. The "Big star" of the team was Oucha...he was absolutely fantastic and had us all in hysterics most days! ...what a character...so funny and great fun to be around....he did the Royal Alhambra proud!...nice one Oucha!...lol..
The teenagers in our group thought the "Beach Party" was wicked and enjoyed the "Disco Energy" within the hotel every night....
Younger kids loved the mini fun fair and the excellent games room.

Waiting service was hit and miss...lack of the English language/communication is the down fall, but i am sure this will improve as more Brits visit this hotel. We befriended one of the waiting staff - Mevlut Giszel - he was fantastic, brilliant customer service and always waited on you with a warm friendly smile and couldn't do enough for you..Fast and efficient service....well done Mev!!...all the waiters should learn from you...
Accommodation was superb, clean and spacious rooms...
Overall we all had had a fantastic holiday...and we would all recommend this hotel and would love to return one day.
Love the Northern Souls of Britain xxx

This hotel is billed as a 5 star and is certainly that by way of decor and cleanliness. Service at this hotel however is very poor. On one particular occasion we waited more than half an hour to be served drinks at the bar. Staff often seem to have a can't be bothered attitude and this was clearly evident in the bar areas. Evening entertainment I felt was also poor. Nightly shows at the Royal Arena were what can only be described as painful!! There is a fairground and mini disco but once the kids have done this a couple of times it gets old. Also be sure to avoid the lady at the sand painting stand. Miserable to say the least and after the first night we refused to give her another penny of our money. The hotel mostly has German guests and you should be prepared to wake extremely early in order to get a sunbed. On the plus side the hotel is exceptionally clean and the restaurant is fantastic with a great variety of food. The pools are also very well maintained and very clean. The beach however has more cigarette butts than shells. Very off putting! As an English guest we are very much in the minority here and there is definitely an air of superiority amongst other guests of certain nationalities. Having stayed the previous year at papillon zeugma in Belek this hotel was a major disappointment after the experience we had there. We definitely will not be returning to Royal Alhambra palace - sorry!

A lot of fun for kids ! In the day enjoying the water slides, in the evening the lunapark! The water park is well organized and safe, there are two life guards at each site.
Luxury hotel. Excellent food, served with special designs and decorations.
Although there were a lot of tourists in the hotel, there are no long ques neither in the dining rooms nor in the water park, or anywhere else.
Excellent and fast service.Very clean hotel.
Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Pool view is also also sea view

We stayed at this hotel during the May half term & had an excellent time. We found the staff who could speak English very friendly. Overall the hotel was very clean & definitely 5 star standard, our room was very spacious & quiet. The food was very good with a wide variety however it would have helped to have labels on the starters.
We tried the Italian al a carte restaurant which was disastrous, waited over an hour & a half for our main course, in the end we gave up. Not sure what the problem was but we weren't the only ones having to wait.
The pool areas were great, whilst we didn't partake in the activities in the main pool it was nice for our son to be able to splash around in a number of the other pools. Lots of space for everyone. The location was perfect, being able to walk onto the beach which had a small football pitch was definitely a hit with my son.
We went with Thomas Cook & were disappointed that we were unable to go on the Pirate Boat trip as they did not have enough people which I find very hard to believe during school half term. This may have been due to the fact that it was advertised as a mediterranian cruise, but was actually a family fun day on a pirate ship.
Overall we were very happy with the hotel & would go back.

We booked this holiday last minute as our honeymoon. I'll start by saying the place is absolutley beautiful!! Very clean and well organised! Our room was lovely and cleaned everyday. The pool area, eating areas and resteruants were also lovely!

We normally couldn't afford to go to a 5* however we spent the extra money as it was our honeymoon. The hotel was very bigged up to us as an amazing place with 5 reseraunts, ect, ect. I would say for the extra we paid we did not get that much more for our money!!

The all inclusive is very good, loads of drink and loads of food at all time of the day. The rooms are cleaned everyday with all new towels and the mini fridge is stocked up everyday as well. You also get a clean towel everyday for at the pool which is good. This is a very family aimed hotel.

Now for the not so good bits....

There is hardly any british people in this hotel! Mainly German, Russians and Polish people. It's like christmas if you hear a british voice!

The Entertainment is very poor for adults! There are shows everynight in the staitium which are fine. Then there is live music in the beach bar after this untill 12. I would say from the whole week we were there there were only 1 good band who played. After this at 12 the only thing to do is to go to the hotels night club, which is not very exciting! There is no other areas with music or that serves drinks. However there is a 24 snack bar!

The piano bar doesn't even have a piano in it?! Strange!!

You can only eat in the al Acarte resteraunts once for free, and they are not open eveynight! So please check which night it is open before you book! If you want to eat there again it is 12 Euros.

The language barrier with the staff is awful!! Trying to get a drink you want can be very difficult!! My husband asked for a beer with lime in it.... he got a beer with WINE in it!! The staff can become very rude as they dont understand what you are asking for!

In the resteraunt, you with get amazing service or shocking service!! We had to ask for a drink 3 times one night and ended up leaving without even getting drink! The reception and customer relations staff are also very rude and hard to work with!

Our Thomas Cook rep at the hotel was pretty rude! we asked her when the bus would be here to pcik us up and she replied without looking up 'check the boards!' to which we did and could still not see it! Asked her again, then she told us which board it was on.... STILL couldnt find it (as there were about 9 different sliding boards), she then flicked through about 3 different bits of paper and told us the time... whhyyy couldnt she just of done this the first time?

I enjoyed our holiday, however not for a honeymoon couple!! And I would say I wouldnt go back through choice for the money! I would say this is more a 4* rather than a 5!

Fine for an all inclusive. Staff are obnoxious, especially at the reception desk. Very difficult to get a late check out. They defer to a manager continually who is never available. Food is decent, but not fantastic. Pool areas are good, no pool service. I do like being referred to as 'Chef' instead of 'Chief', it makes me chuckle, and for some reason everyone says it! Overall it's fine for a family holiday, just expect Eastern European service, in a Western hotel.

We stayed at the hotel in July 2014 for 7 nights. The hotel itself is very plush with exquisite fixtures. The rooms were lovely, all surroundings were clean. Definitely of 5 star standard.

However the service varied from day to day, definitely not 5 star service.

The staff were friendly however there is a tremendous language barrier. 90% of staff in the hotel don't speak English. This made communication very difficult and frustrating at times. Some staff just didn't bother to assist due to the fact they couldn't speak English.

The clientele for the hotel are predominantly Russian, German and Dutch. An an English person it felt like you were in the minority, which is not a problem however their cultures were fully endorsed by hotel staff without much consideration for English clientele or other nationalities. I have nothing against these nationalities however it appeared as though they perceive themselves to be superior over others, which was very awkward most of the time. I'm of carribean decent and felt very uncomfortable due to constant starring by the majority of the clientelle. But tried very hard not to make this ruin my holiday as Turkey is a beautiful country, Turkish people are lovely and the hotel itself was nice. The hotel is a misrepresentation of Turkey and the Turkish culture.

The hotel facilities were fantastic. On the beach which was perfect. The pool, Spa, Gym, kids club, fun fair and overall entertainment was great. The animation team do very well and cater for children as much as adults. Beach party and Ampi Theatre productions each night were great. However there are extra charges for things like the a la carte restaurants, spa facilities, games room and the hotel shops are very expensive. The hotel WIFI is very poor. Worked some days and didn't most of the time.

The food in the main Buffett was mediocre. Lots of variety however very repetitive. After day 3 your sick of it! To enjoy you have to book an a la carte restaurant. I free bookin for the week, and there after is like £15 per person.

Overall the hotel is lovely and a nice experience, however staff and certainly the clientelle conduct was a massive let down.

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. I've stayed at 4 stars in Turkey which was overall a better experience than the Royal Alhambra Palace.

Hope this review is helpful.
