Kamelya Fulya Hotel
Ranked #37 of 44 Hotels in Colakli
Reviewed September 6, 2010

Myself, my husband and my seven year old son have just returned from The Fulya hotel at Kamelya world with Thomas cook, I must say, when we booked this holiday I had my reservations as I never fancied Turkey but my husband thought it would be a great complex for my son. How true this was, we all absolutely loved the whole place, it was spotless throughout, im very fussy on cleanliness and always take antibacterial wipes with me as you dont know what the cleaners use, but everwhere you look, staff are cleaning. The staff may not talk english very well, but they do try! It is a prodomenently german and russian resort but we got on really well with everyone. When you arrive you get one free visit to one of the restaurants on site, we tried to book chinese or the italian but was fully booked, we managed to book the Turkish restaurant which was nice, we spoke to other guests who had trouble booking the restaurant of their choice. Watch if you have small children as the sea is quite choppy but is on a lovely sandy beach. The entertainment was mostly geared up for german guests, but the musicals were sang in english, which were great, and the reps would explain things in english after german and russian. The mini disco was also mostly german songs but that didnt bother us as our son isnt into dancing on stage anymore! If your looking for lots of things to do outside the complex, there isnt much around but we were too tired most nights after days by the pool to go further than one of the bars in the complex. If you walk ten minutes up the road, you will find a mini shopping arcade where you can make some great deals, always half what they want to charge! All in all this holiday was a perfect gettaway and kept my son busy all day on the slides, we enjoyed every minute of it and are thinking of going back next year!

Travelled in a party of 3 (2 adults, 1 kid – 4) from 25th June to 2nd July 2010.

Hotel was around 1 hour or so away in a coach ride from Antalya airport.

We liked the looks of the hotel from the Thomas Cook website and brochure and on arrival we were happy that we decided to book, as the place was just fantastic and looked absolutely fabulous.

Now let’s get this German, Russian thing out the way first. Yes, the site is predominantly German, then you have a spattering of Russian guests and there can also be found a many other nationalities also. We had no problem whatsoever with any guests throughout our stay, we kinda keep ourselves to ourselves anyway, we are as polite as we feel we can be, and funnily enough we don’t have any problems, maybe we’re just lucky or……………..

Anyway onto the hotel itself, the Fulya is as impressive a hotel as I can remember staying in, the staff on the reception are very nice and welcoming, yes English isn’t the greatest, but then again my Turkish ain’t too hot. Each staff member will have a little badge showing their language spoken, you speak to someone with a Turkish or German badge……………..go figure.

We were on the 7th floor (top) and had a sea view room, the room itself was absolutely lovely, couldn’t fault a thing. The furnishings were lovely throughout also, the mini bar is topped up daily with 2 Efes beer (this was the draught beer used throughout, which I was glad about as it is a lovely beer) 1 fanta, 1 coke and then you have 4 waters (2 in the fridge, 2 for coffee/tea making on the table) and a couple of sparkling waters. Although I shouldn’t recommend it, but I would put away any drinks that were left and then you can get a refill and then you can restock with your leftovers……...hehe. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels, toilet rolls are maintained on a daily basis too. Toilet was also clean, with bath/shower, usual compliment of soaps, shampoo and bath foam, also complete with a hair dryer and shaving mirror.

Onto the restaurants, now we never tried this ourselves, but seemingly another couple we spoke with said they did it with no problems, but you are meant to stick to your own buffet restaurant. We did walk through the Holiday Village restaurant just to take a look at it, very nicely laid out it was, didn’t encounter anyone suggesting we leave. Anyways, the Fulya main restaurant is open practically throughout day and night, upto around 2am, with short breaks in between each designated meal serving for clean up.
Food was very nice, no problems, no upset tummies, and I eat like a pig. My only gripe was there wasn’t enough Chicken Wings and Chicken Nuggets on daily basis…………LOL. Food though was nice and good range available for all tastes, yes it might be deemed repetitive with some dishes, but we are fussy eaters and we had enough to keep us happy, so if your good at accommodating many different dishes, then you’ll be very happy. The place is very nice indeed, laid out very well, is huge and is always serviced by waiters on duty to help clear up. There are self-service drinks machine, but not alcohol or fizzy drinks, and from memory I’m sure it was only at Main Dinner that the waiters served Alcohol and the likes of Coke.

The a la carte restaurants look great , we only managed to get the Barbecue Restaurant booked which was looking onto the water in an open wooden building, very nice. Food was very nice and drink was included. This was actually a free meal with our 1 per week allowance. We could not however get the Chinese restaurant that was fully booked for our whole week’s stay, this was above the Italian Restaurant La Peral, the Barbecue restaurant is situated next to this. There is also a Turkish restaurant to be found near the beachfront and also a fish restaurant next to the Selin Hotel. There is an option if space available that you can book the restaurants for 10 euros per person, unfortunately the Chinese restaurant wasn’t available so we never took up the option, but it seems that the 10 euros provides all the food you can eat and all the drinks. Open times are listed as 8pm – 10pm, although our reservation stated 7.30 – 9.30pm.

Snack bars are found near all the major points of the hotel and the Nazar bar situated at the shops (various cloths, gifts, groceries) is open serving drink and some snacks throughout upto 7am.

There are 2 pools outside the Fulya, a kids with a couple of slides and an adults, there are similar type layouts in Kamelya Village and Selin, which you can obviously use also. Pool Bars are situated near them too which serve drinks and on set times food, Kamelya has a swim up bar too. The Aqua Park is also situated next to the hotel, this is relatively small but very enjoyable for the kids with a few pools and the water slides coming through the Dinosaur legs. There are various slides and sprays for the kids in the other pools, a bar is situated at the kiddies pool which against servces drinks and food. Like the hotel pools, it is very hard to get a lounger, so be ready.

You are also given beach towels (via a card system), these can be exchanged every 3 days for clean ones. If you lose the towel or the card then you’ll pay 10 euros (the same if you lose your room card).

Entertainment is predominantly German speaking, however there is some sets done in English and some of the stage productions were also mixed with English and France (we watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame) and they are very impressively done. However if there’s a guy with a mic on stage, he’ll be speaking German most probably. Kids entertainment involves the disco at 8.30pm, then that is followed at 9.30pm by a show of some sort. There are also special nights, one every Wednesday (although it seemed to be a bit more regular during the summer) at the beach, with a disco. Just so that you know, it’s not actually ON the beach, it’s just at the walkway in front of the beach. Also every fortnight they have a night in the Aquapark with music, food and drink, more adult themed are both of these. And there is a disco in the Selin Hotel also that can be used.

There are games rooms in the hotels and also a games area with various arcade machines, air hockey etc etc. Also the bowling alley which has a bar also in it which is great fun (can’t recall exactly the price, but sure it was around 18 euros for the 3 of us for 2 games), this also has some games machines in it too.

The hotel is situated at the sea too and has it’s own water sports centre which has the usual hire jobs of ski-jets, paragliding, banana boat and pedal boats (although they were on the beach never saw them out though). There’s also the scuba sessions too.

In terms of location, well really, you should already be aware that you are not bang in the centre of everything, Thomas Cook listed it as near some shops and the likes, and they are bang on, small markets can be found only a nice stroll away, Colakli is a little further and would recommend the dolmus which stops right outside the hotel, 3 TL per person (we never paid for our 4 year old). This dolmus also takes you to Side and also saw some that do take you to Manvagat.

All in all this place was absolutely superb, offers so much for all, I would say maybe for the smaller kids they could bring in something like a mini funfair or something, there are football pitches found at the front of the Fulya, only one appeared to be used and lined, maybe the other could be used for a kids area for a mini funfair or the likes. Just something for them to consider I’d think.

Easily 10/10 for us.

We just returned from a 8 day stay at the Kamelya World Resort, Fulya Hotel, and I must say that it was one of the most wounderful experiences for me, ever!!! The accomodations and staff of the resort were surpurbe!! Actually, I am lost for words to explain our stay there. The Fulya Hotel was most reciently remodeled leaving everything fresh and new in appearence. The restraunts,(5) buffet restrauant (1) and food choices were the best.
For an American like me, this is a hidden mecca!! My Russian friends booked this excursion through TEZ Tours in St. Petersburg Russia. This surly was an experience that I will never forget.

Absolutely fantastic. Kamelya world is a huge complex with 4 huge swimming pools, an aqua park (no charge as complex is all inclusive) 6 pool bars, swim up bar and two beach bars (on private beach with sunbeds & shade) along with water sports.

The complex is spotlessly clean, food good, excellent entertainment (if wanted) but plenty of quiet places to go if not.

All in all it is without doubt a first class holiday destination, for couples or families of all ages and the best thing of all (I have teenagers) you are not subjected to other peoples children as there is so much for them to do, we went in school holidays. Bus & taxi's outside hotel complex to take you into Side.

Could not recommend it enough
