“Good Hotel, Shame about the area.”
Reviewed August 27, 2009

Hotel is new, so of good standard cosmetically. The pool area is very nice and kept very clean. There was a problem with a shortage of sun beds however. We requested two adjacent rooms as were travelling with children, but they were unable to accomodate this and the children were on a different floor to us which I felt a little uncomfortable about, however we did not experience any problems. The rooms were nicely furnished. flat screen T.V. with several English channels. Fridge in room which was restocked daily with soft drinks and water. Rooms cleaned daily. Nice bathroom with bath, shower, w.c. & basin. Hairdryer. The buffet restaurant offered a wide range of food at each meal, but in my opinion was definately not 5 star quality. We found some of the waiters to be very good & found it better to sit in same part of the restaurant on each visit so the waiters got to know you. Ate in the a la cart restaurants 2 times and found them to offer good service in a much more pleasant setting but was dissapointed with the food. The pool bar offered a selection of food which was good but again not 5 star. We found the pool bar staff on the whole ignorant, with the occasional good waiter. The animation staff were excellent and encouraged participation without being pushy. The shows in the evening were a little cheesy but entertaining. The shops and stalls locally were fine, not too pushy. However we went into Side and did not enjoy the experience at all. The sales staff in the shops are very pushy, very friendly untill they realise you are not going to spend any money - then be prepared to be sworn at !!!! Went into one clothes shop on the harbour front on the way round to the collumns and the man became extremely abusive and aggresive towards myself and my family - we were all very shaken up by it. I would certainly not recommend anyone go to Side. We went on one of the trips - the med cruise, the children enjoyed jumping off the boat into the sea. We have heard much about Turkey being very reasonably priced and the Turkish being friendly. We found it to be neither. We found the hotel to be very clean with excellent animation staff. Nice Pool with slides. Small baby pool, no lifeguard and the main pool is too deep for young children that cannot swim so children need to be supervised at all times. Beach approx 100 yards. Overall the hotel was OK for a family holiday. Have been to much nicer, friendlier, better value countries and will not be returning to Turkey.

An excellent hotel which is very good value for money. Probably the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in - the staff are cleaning 24 hours a day. Rooms very good; Food excellent and good variety (my wife requires a gluten free diet and this was never a problem for the ever attentive staff. Entertainment was varied and accommodated most tastes.

The 7am gathering for sunbed reservation was ok if you enjoyed the early morning banter with insomniacs from across Europe.

To conclude: a great place for all ages who are not too worried about leaving the site and are prepared to put on a few pounds!

I spent here a beautiful vacation with my family.
The hotel doesn't look up to much from the outside, but the picture quickly improves once inside. I found the reception staff helpful and friendly.
Our room was reasonably spacious and quite well-furnished. The mini-bar, with a free bottle of soft-drinks, all re-stocked each day, is a nice touch.
The restaurant was excellent, I recommend to taste everything. The hotel has also good poolbar and beachbar with helpful staff.

The Alba Queen has many good points:
Hotel is impressive and attractive and quite large. It has a small gym and spa - although I didn't use this.
Accomodation very good, very clean, rooms well designed and satellite TV. We had a family room which was excellent.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful (although english speaking lacking).
The food is excellent (as my expanded waist line shows).
Drinks plentiful although the wine was pretty uuuuggghhh.
Beach very close by with plenty of sunbeds available, beach restaurant right there with nice food.
Sandy beach shelving into the sea for easy swimming and paddling althoug quite wavy.
The entertainment is somewhat hit and miss - some shows quite good - some awful.
Good water slides into the pool. Kids loved these.

There was one downside for me with this hotel - but was really significant downside.
It is built on very little land space therefore although the hotel itself is big the grounds are not. Consequently there is only one swimming pool with very little room around the pool for sunbeds. I only managed to get sunbeds once when I got up at 7.45am. If you were any later they are all taken and then you can't get near the pool for the rest of the day so your only option was the beach - which is no good when the kids just want to play on the pool water slides.

Also not having much ground space meant that organised activities were very restricted and if you don't like listening to pool aerobics - other than the beach there's no where to go to get away from it.

2 weeks of existing in such limited space got really boring and I got sick to death of going to the beach when I really wanted to be at the pool.

I did have a good holiday at the Alba Queen - but I didn't have a great holiday.

My 2 friends and I stayed at this hotel during June for one week.
Hotel
The hotel was very clean and all the staff very friendly. Security were at all the entrances, like all the hotels in the resort, so it felt safe. The all inclusive was effective 24 hours a day and the bar stayed open late. You could even have waiter service to your table in the bar. We did tip at the end of the week in the tip box on the bar but were told that this was only for the staff behind the bar making the drinks and not the waiters, so tip them separately.
We used the massage and hairdressing facility in the hotel and both were good.
Bedroom
Room was brilliant, we had 2 bedrooms and plenty of space with a pool view. The mini bar was stocked up daily and the maid kept the rooms very clean on a daily basis with clean towels. Plenty of wardrobe space in both rooms. When we arrived the air con was on a timer but this changed the following day to be on whenever we turned it on which was much better.
Food
We went in the al a carte restaurant one evening and it was fine but the food in the main restaurant was excellent with lots of choice. During the day, you could also eat in pool or beach bar as part of the all inclusive package.
Beach
This was clean and had plenty of sunbeds. A variety of activities were held during the day. The beach bar was very handy. The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes down a hill but not too bad.
Pool
We had no problems getting sunbeds in June as long as we were down by 9. There were the usuals who took the same bed every day but this wasnt a problem when we went. Pool very clean and large but was quite deep with no shallow end.
Resort
The resort is reasonably quiet but has a number of shops and a few bars. We werent over keen on the resort, so went into SIDE on the dolmus bus which you can get on outside the hotel. This is a nice resort with lots of shops and bars.
Entertainment
The team were very happy and put on shows at night, which were what you would expect in a hotel. There was also a nightclub in the hotel but never busy enough to stay open late while we were there.
Negatives
Our only real issue was a boat trip we booked privately. The trip itself was lovely but we all got a tummy bug from the food served. Not sure why, as it all tasted and looked very nice. Next time, we would book with the rep.
Overall an excellent holiday and definately value for money.

We travelled with my parents and our 3 children age 8, 12 and 15 we all had a fantastic holiday and would go back next year. We found the food fantastic with loads of choice for us all. we went to both a la carte restaurants and were not impressed with either but the food in main restaurant was so good it did not matter. The staff were all excellent and really friendly and everywhere was kept really clean and tidy. The entertainment staff were excellent to and worked really hard they did not pressure you into participating if you did not want to. The shows were as you would expect but fun to watch, the lion king show was the best. The beach was a minutes walk and very clean and tidy but the sand was really really hot. We all had a massage and turkish bath at hotel and would recommend it to everyone it was great. We went on a boat trip which was on our beach and took you to see turtles and dolphins. It was worth going on cost £15 each for the whole day and inc lunch but would advise people to take own drinks as they were really expensive on the boat. The manager of all 3 hotels spent a lot of time at ours which was nice as him and his son kept checking on things all the time. The only bad point of hotel which would not stop us going back was the GERMANS they were worse than we ever imagined they are the most ruddist and selfish people i have ever met. they would push us and my children out of the way to get their food(even though not much wait)and when you held doors open for them they would just walk through and not even look at you. the sunbed is as expected but they would put towels down and sometimes not come to pool till about 4pm, selfish people.
