This hotel has the best customer service ever! Daniel was so helpful and went out of his way to be of service. Joshua was sweet and they were so friendly.
Beautiful setting - within walking distance of Saint Elena, Curi-Canchi reserve, Monteverde Biological Reserve, and some delightful restaurants and coffee shops are right outside the entrance. Reasonably priced.
The hotel has lovely nature trails and does a night hike and birding talk on site both of which I did and were lovely! Saw toucans and many other birds.
My room was comfortable, light and looked out onto hummingbird feeders and flowers in the garden. Breakfast was typical for Costa Rica and very good.
I would definitely recommend staying here and will be back for sure.

We stayed at Hotel El Bosque for 2 nights at the end of Feb. There are some great things about this hotel with the location being the absolute best. We had not been to this area before and were not sure what to expect. Upon our arrival, I was so relieved to see that it was not set in town, but in a very quiet, forested area, but within walking distance of a couple of great restaurants, a bakery, craft/food co-op and a few other local businesses.

My husband is an avid birder, which was the primary reason for our visit to Monte Verde, and we were able to do a birding trip on the grounds one morning.

Daniel is a very accommodating host. He graciously answered our endless questions and set up a couple of tours for us. I truly admire the way he responds to reviews on TripAdvisor and is always looking for ways to make things better.

Our room was very basic but clean. I know Daniel and staff are working diligently to upgrade the rooms which is a monumental task. We were in room 24- the last one on the end. I appreciated that but I don't think it was one of the more updated rooms. There were problems with shower drainage and the electric dimming when running the hair dryer, but, the room DID have a hair dryer.

This lodging has been recently purchased by these young people, and they are working hard to restore it. I don't think you will find a better location in all of Monteverde or hosts that are more accommodating. It is not the Hilton, but Monteverde isn't Paris.

With little research done for this vacation, I was delighted to find the Hotel El Bosque - Clean simple rooms, fabulous breakfast buffet included, friendly helpful staff and located within minutes of the Cloud Forest with shops and restaurants within walking distance. Daniel and Joshway at the reception desk were fabulous at helping arrange activities to fully enjoy the travel experience. Andre, a naturalist on the grounds led incredible night tours and bird watching activities. Thank You, Thank You to All.

Stayed in El bosque for one night of our 2 week trip but stood out as one of our favourite hotels! Booked the hotel late the night before staying, and arrived slightly early for check in but the receptionist was helpful and she got us in a room early as we had a tour booked. She had extremely good english and helped us on the phone when our tour bus did not arrive to pic us up. Room was basic but nice and clean. The hotel grounds are extremely nice and we saw lots of birds and wildlife in the gorunds. The hotel is a short drive from monteverde town which was nice as it was quite and peaceful and away from the touristy noise of monteverde town. After checkout the hotel let us leave our car in the grounds while we went to have lunch and the local coffee center. Breakfast was included and was a buffet style with fruit pancakes etc. very nice.
Overall an extremely pleasant stay would recommend!

El Bosque was a real find. It sits in the forest but a short walk to the small hamlet of MOnteverde. You're immersed in nature and at the same time have easy access to a decent Italian restaurant, an excellent Argentinian restaurant, a tipico restaurant and a fine bakery as well as a health food grocery. But what really made this place special was the staff. Daniel and his staff were amazing. They offer advice and provide a warm atmosphere for all the folks who stay there.

There are amazing trails right on the property as well the opportunity for amazing bird watching. Breakfasts are fresh and substantial.

This is a great place to use as your jumping off place for the cloud forest unless you're looking for the crowds in Santa Elena.
