Our family spent a few days in the Montiverde region touring and enjoying some of the adventure opportunities. The kids truly enjoyed zip- lining and we did both night and daytime cloud-forest exploration tours. I was particularly keen to see the wildlife that is native to the area.
To be completely honest, we did not see much wildlife. One male Quetzal, one sloth some snakes and Toucans that were so far away we needed telescopic binoculars. In the evening we saw a stick bug or two, one small viper coiled around a small tree branch and some spiders (no tarantulas).
The flora however is spectacular. There are an incredible variety of trees and flowers and interestingly the continental divide runs through curicancha.
We really enjoyed the hummingbird tree in Curicancha and our day-tour guide, Danilo Brenes was great. He is a fountain of interesting information and we learned a great deal about the flora and fauna that are native to the region. He tried so hard to find things for us to see and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a guide.
