It is a very calm place, his location allows him to move away from the hustle of the city and to rest. If what you wish is to disconnect yourself partially of the daily thing I recommend it to you. The attention of the personnel is excellent as his rooms. His location with regard to the downtown (Monte Verde) allows you to take place and simultaneously if you want to visit some lounge or restaurant etc. You can do it walking.

Room Tip: For me, the room is excellent.

What a lovely place to stay! From the moment we arrived the staff was helpful and kind. One member in particular, Eva, was very knowledgeable and hospitable and really made our stay comfortable. The location is a little hike from the main town, but if you're active it's not a big deal. Cab rides to and from the lodge are cheap. Nearby restaurants are very good. Just ask the staff and they will give you a delicious recommendation! They also serve coffee and cookies in the afternoon and supply games and books in the main dining area, which came in handy on a very stormy day of our trip. Overall, I highly recommend the Cala Lodge. Nice rooms and a great staff. Pura Vida!

Such a wonderful place to stay in Monteverde!! Felt like own private cabin in the woods surrounded by a reserve and full of wildlife (even a family of monkeys!) Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast amazing. Definitely want to return!! Best hotel if my visit!

We booked all our travel through Anywhere Costa Rica . . . which has its advantages and disadvantages . . . but Cala Lodge turned out to be an overall good place to stay. When we checked in, the young lady at the front wasn't overly friendly (friendliness in CR is so common and wonderful!) . . .
Our room was spacious and basic and in the main building. There are several separate buildings, but we didn't get to see them. The breakfast each morning is really nice -- your choice of any type of eggs, fresh and beautiful fruit, good coffee (yes, good!) and kind and sweet staff.
Cala lodge was within walking distance of Monteverde itself and larger adjoining town, St. Elena. We liked the hike to town and up the steep hill to return -- EXERCISE!It's good for us, remember?
Each room has a balcony and the common room where breakfast is served is open and friendly and people from around the world share breakfast together.
This was the ONLY place we have stayed so far that has adequate and ultra-clean white towels with washcloths or face cloths -- which seem to be an unknown concept int CR for some reason.
Overall, we liked it and liked the room, the views, the beauty and drama of lightening and thunder in the distance, the walkability, friendliness of staff and town.
Not fancy. Basic and decent.

As a Costa Rica travel designer, Cala Lodge is the perfect place for those who are looking for a relaxing, quiet and cozy place to stay. The lodge is not far from the main attractions and is located in a peaceful área, not in the main noisy Street that heads to Monteverde Reserve.

Great views everywhere, a heartful breakfast to start your day activities and most important the personalized service they offer!!

Do not hesitate to stay here! Remember is a lodge not a 5 star hotel. No TV, no telephone in your room but birds singing every morning waking you up =)
