Chateau d'Esclimont

Nothing to fault. The staff were fantastic, the food excellent, the accommodation everything we were looking for. We stayed here at the very end of February this year and after having our first 2 weeks of our first overseas holiday a bit disappointing it finished off with absolute perfection. We had a room in a turrett with circular bed. The simple things were just fantastic - to the choclates with the picture of the hotel on them on our turned down bed, to the little card left by the staff advising us of the weather the next day. We had a wine tasting which was fantastic - the somelier and his assistant so accomodating - I think it took us 2 hours to taste 3 wines which we learnt so much. My partner had his birthday and I asked for a birthday cake - not just a basic cake it was a magnificent torte with a candle like a firecracker. The grounds are just so peaceful. I wish we could have stayed for longer and hope one dya we will be back. Thank you again to such fantastic people for making our stay so magnificent.

Room Tip: complete relaxation

Our family of two children stayed at this Chateau and enjoyed a magical experience in France. The castle is beautiful as is the surrounding land. The restaurant looking out onto the moat and across the grounds has a rich historical period feel to it and the quality of food and service was outstanding. There is a great selection of outdoor activities (swimming, tennis, bike-riding). This experience was a highlight of our already fantastic trip in France.

The most perfect weekend, totally reccomend, the staff cant do enough for you.
Stunning location, felt like a Princess in a castle.
Rooms have everything you need and imagine. Hotel arranged our pick up from the airport, if your flying from Charles D gaulle trip time is around 2hours. This made things so easy for us.
The resturant was superb and food was amazing, you do pay for what you get and this is worth every penny.

Room Tip: Room 15 over looks the gardens and the lake amazing views, but every room is beautiful, room 12 has...

Driving through the gates your expectations are high. And then slowly through the winding drive & forest this beautiful chateau appears. This is what all the effort of getting to & staying in France is all about!

This was for us the highlight of our journey through France. Our final night before returning to Australia.

Our room was spectacular with gorgeous views over the moat, to the surrounding grounds. We opted for an accommodation & dinner package which also worked out well. Great food & good service.

The only negative is the wi-fi which the hotel management agrees, has been a consistent struggle for them. It only works in the reception & the bar. Not in your room. But hey... The chateau was built before the net.... & walls are thick!

All in all...indulge yourself and just do it. You'll love it.

Following 6 days in the Loire Valley and headed back to Paris, we stayed in this beautiful chateau after spending the day in Chartres. Since St-Symphorien is 30 minutes away from Chartres, the hotel made arrangements for a car to pick us up and return us to the train station. Our room, which had an eastern exposure overlooking the pond, was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the grounds are lovely, and the food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. In spite of a wedding reception that was held the night of our stay, we did not encounter an increase in noise levels (aside from the bride and groom arriving by helicopter) or disruption in service at the restaurant. This was the perfect venue at which to celebrate the end of our wonderful trip to the French countryside.

Now, to be fair, we didn't have dinner at Chateau d'Esclimont, so no comment on the food. But when I first came down that driveway and laid eyes on the chateau, I almost had a fit. It's got to be my ideal of what a chateau really should be and the closer we got, the better it looked. The inside was great as well; maybe kind of quirky but in a charming way. Everyone on the staff was lovely to us and we thought the place was spotless. The carpet on the stairs is just a little worn, but what is that to getting to stay in a room overlooking a MOAT! It doesn't get any cooler. And they have bikes you can use and trails through the meadows and woods and a huge lake and little moorhens skittering around all over. Just delightful!

Room Tip: Try to stay in the main building
