After scouting the available B&B's for a wedding in October my wife and I stayed with John and Sonja at Avocado Grove. We were taken back by the professional yet homely service and I'd recommended any couple or family passing through Flaxton, Montville area to stay at the Avocado Grove. I travel frequently for business and have experienced every level of hotel, motel and B&B. John and Sonja have a great product, good value and should charge top of their market rates (but don't in my opinion). If you see no-vacancy at Avocado Grove that's no surprise.

For those wanting specifics, early check in, local drop off & pick up service, clean premises, manicured gardens, homely welcoming and prompt breakfast service, perfectly cooked breakfast - this really blew me away, Best hotel style breakfast I've ever had, better than any IHG / Starwoods group hotel breakfast I've had (and I've enjoyed hundreds including Westin, Le Meridian, W hotel). Local high quality produce served in a healthy or hearty options and tailored to your preferences. Very efficient. When People make the difference (and they usually do with a B&B) it needs to be recognized so others looking for a credible recommendation can travel with less stress and concern.

Avocado grove have the right balance of treating you as a house guest, yet a delivering a premium hotel worthy experience in the amenities, food and attention to your needs. Well done guys.

When six members of my family stayed at Avocado Grove, we needed an early check in, because we were attending a wedding. Sonya and John, went out of their way, to enable us to do this. They even offered to drive us there and pick us up.
The rooms were fabulous, well-appointed and spotlessly clean. The outdoor areas boasted a beautiful garden, set amid the surrounding countryside. The cows mooing and birds singing added to the relaxing atmosphere of Avocado Grove.
Each room had its own personality, which gave our stay a ‘homely’ feel. We were constantly offered refreshments, from the time we arrived, until we left. Breakfast was on the balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens. There was fruit, cereal, coffee, tea and a hot breakfast which included fresh eggs from John’s chickens. The food just kept coming.
We were lucky to have John take us down to pick some avocados. Both John and Sonya, were interesting, accommodating, fun and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. We would have loved to stay longer, and look forward to returning for a longer visit.

This venue was (understandably) booked out for the date of our January wedding and unable to accommodate us. Instead of simply saying they were booked out they apologised profusely (they need not apologise for being in high demand) and then phoned other accommodation providers to ensure we were looked after. We will return (and book far far in advance). Thank you so much for your care.

Room Tip: The room on the top floor facing the road has a lovely view

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Avocado Grove. Sonya and John treated us like guests in the own home and made us feel so welcome. The breakfasts were amazing, each one delicious and different each morning, overlooking a wonderful view. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner one night with a surprise complimentary dessert. The room was very comfortable and homely. We enjoyed watching a few DVDs and it was great how John offered a dish of chocolates eat while we watched the movies. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to visit the Sunshine Coast hindterland.

Avocado Grove B&B: Nev & Trish O'B had a 2 night mid-week great experience. The arrival afternoon tea was a big surprise in both quality & quantity. We were lucky in having the dinner on the second night. Dinner was an arranged meal as Nev is fussy about vegs- not a problem Sonya & John catered for the fussy bit & the rest was really well cooked & presented. Dessert oh yeah. Now breakie- big & everything was there & yummy. Even though the Grove is only on a street parallel to the "main" road noise was not heard- the only noises was the lovely sound of birds early in the morning. Trish went for several walks on the B&B property looking at the lovely sunsets. Sonya & John were very welcoming & natural hosts. PS: we did take a nice bottle of wine.

Our first 3 nights away without children in 10 years!! We were somewhat shell-shocked but John & Sonya took it all in their stride. We had no real need to go out and find restaurants as the food was excellent.

We chose this B&B simply because of the great Tripadviser's visitors comments and we weren't disappointed, and as expected we experienced really exceptional hospitality... we couldn't fault our stay...and as so many previous guests have commented .....John and Sonya are just the most fantastic hosts.....nothing was too much trouble. Originally we intended going out for dinner, but (luckily) we realised they offered a "simple" dinner menu... but it was nothing simple we assure you !!!!.....and worthy of any 5 star restaurant anywhere..... my wife had their yummy home made soup and then a perfectly cooked steak. I chose the salmon, and a little concerned as one of my pet hates is overcooked fish, again just perfectly cooked. As neither of us enjoy desserts we asked when booking if some cheese and biscuits would be possible.. again was it simple plastic "mass produced cheese" ???.... no way... a beautiful cheese board was presented.

Great night sleep followed by an amazing breakfast (their house special is strongly recommended) and another personal hate is badly brewed or even worse stewed coffee... again all the (3) cups were superb... my wife enjoys Earl Grey... just the standard tea bag .....no way...

Anything wrong ??? Yes !!!... perhaps a little too cheap but don't tell John and Sonya as we will be going back... it is really great to be able to give them a really great review ....they deserve every single word... don't miss this one on your travels....
