This is truly one of the most stunning b and b's we have ever stayed in. From the moment Helle steps out onto her wonderful gravel drive to say hello, homebaked flapjacks and tea on arrival , right the way through to the personal way she and husband David wish you farewell, I honestly cant rave about this place enough. Helles extraordinary good taste hangs it all together of course - her elegant furnishings, the beautiful bedrooms and the effortless style of the whole place all conspire to make you feel instantly relaxed, refreshed ...and inspired to try and create something similar yourself one day. The breakfast is organic, local and delicious and the general happy vibe of the place, helped not a little by jolly David and his wonderful dog, is something you'll take with you all the way back home and treasure..

Room Tip: both are perfect

We stayed for two nights to attend a wedding in the area.On arrival we were impressed with the beautiful gardens and the very warm welcome at the door by Helle and David. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean with a hospitality tray including fresh milk ( not UHT) and homemade cookies. Our own private bathroom was also spotless with immaculate white quality towels Breakfast is excellent much of the produce sourced locally Helle and David are lovely people we left feeling that we were so pleased we had stayed at The Old Rectory. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble and we can say it is the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed at.

At the gate to the garden we were friendly greeted by Teddy, the dog of Helle and David.
He didn´t even bark. Trough a wonderful garden we drove up to the house. The door went
Open and we where warmly welcomed by Helle. Our room turned out to be very comfortable and cosy.
Also the bed was just perfect. We had even a bathroom on our own with a view into the garden.
In the morning Helle had prepared a wonderful breakfast with everything you can think of.
(The smoothie was great!). Helle recommended us to drive to Wells and we didn´t regret this
trip! Of course we also went to Stonehenge . But Avebury was even more impressive!
In the afternoon we chatted with David while enjoying the tea Helle had prepared.
Nearby we had great dinner in a beautiful restaurant (recommendation by Helle).
Over all a prefect stay.….. we will come back some day.

I stayed here with my Mum and Sister for 1 night, wished I'd booked more time off work! The house is wonderful, Helle is a great host, was lovely to hear about everything that'd been done to restore this beautiful home.
We were in the attic room and although we wanted to stay in the one room together I was offered a separate room to sleep in rather than the fold out bed (turning a twin room into a 3 bed) I didn't mind sleeping here as I prefered to be with my family. But I thought it was a nice offer. The bathroom is lovely too, with a semi-sunken bath. Helle also provides some toiletries, this was handy because we forgot conditioner.
(Helle also booked us a table at The Three Daggers Pub in the next village, not too far away, we drove however because it was raining and being October, cold and dark very early. I bet it's lovely to walk to in summer however. You have to try their cider on tap it's really nice!)
Breakfast is a superb variety, with many things to choose from as well as a full english, wish I'd had room for toast as Helle had marmite, I usually have to take my own to places. I'm not a jam lover.

I hope to visit Wiltshire again and take my hubby this time, we'll be staying here without a doubt if there's room as I imagine it's very popular in peak season.

My daughters and I stayed here for one night and most definitely wanted to stay longer. Helle made our stay absolutely perfect. Our room and bathroom was spotlessly clean with good quality towels and linen. Our breakfast was splendid, with an excellent selection. Helle is a mine of information of places to see and things to do.The Old Rectory is a delightful place to stay and without doubt is one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in.

Hi there,
Thanks so much for your kind words, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. It was lovely to have you and your lovely girls left and the house was quite empty when you left. I hope you all had a super sunny time at Stonehenge and on your way home.
Very best wishes and hope to see you all here when next you need a relaxed family stay in the south.
Very best wishes

I stayed here for one night prior to attending AOSB on the 07/10/12 and can not think of a fault. Helle and David were very welcoming and helpfull through my stay, my room and bathroom was spotlessly clean with everything i needed all ready for me i.e. bathrobe, hairdryer, tea, coffee, shampoo, ect, ect. My breakfast was lovely with all the choice i could ask for. Overall attention to detail was paid throughout my stay and it did not go unoticed which is why I would reccommend this B&B to anyone.

This really is somewhere very special indeed.
Helle, David and their son welcomed us so warmly into their stunning home surrounded by magnificent gardens set in the Wiltshire country side. The location of The Old Rectory was perfect as we were attending a local Music Festival. The attention to detail to ensure our needs were met was wonderful (we even had perfectly gooey home made flapjack with the tea facilities in our room!) Our double room at the top of the house was excellent with a lovely fresh bathroom complete with fluffy white towels! The breakfast that lavished the dinning table in the morning was truly superb...fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, warm croissants, organic full english....
We really can't recommend a visit to this delightful rural gem highly enough.
