Once again we return to the BV Borgo Del Principe. This is our third time, and everything is as it was. Consistency is the key to success in the service industry and the Borgo Del Principe hits the spot every time.
Its so nice to be welcomed by the same team that made our last two holidays here effortless. Mauro & Fabiola, the wonderful cleaning ladies, the magical gardener who maintains & keeps the place looking immaculate. The restaurant staff,Giuseppe, Carmen, led by Tomas, who work so hard, and of course Fabio the lifeguard, who takes care of everything beach/pool side.

The hotel is only a 40 minute drive from Lamezia Terme Airport - when hiring a car make sure you check for damage, scratches etc, we went through Avis (via a comparison website) and even though they gave me a great upgrade the vehicle was scratched on every panel. I went back in and said I want it all marked down and they did this no problem.
You could get the train to Zambrone from Lamezia but the train station isn't next to the airport, its a cab or bus ride, and at the other end to get from Zambrone to the hotel its a 10 minute walk downhill.
This time of year (just after the high season, so no animation) the hotel has a lot of tours. Two ways to look at this, they are only in the hotel from 5pm to 6.30am as they are out on the coach seeing the sights of the region, so basically dinner time where they do swarm around the food and then by 9pm they are back in their rooms!
For a few days we ate inside, but in the end we asked Tomas to move us to the gazebo outside as it was quieter. As previously mentioned all the restaurant staff are lovely.
Food wise, its the same formula as previous years, buffet style with more than enough choices.
Breakfast you have a choice of cereals, fruit, bread, sweet pastries, cakes, bacon, scrambled/boiled eggs, hams/salami's, yoghurts.
Juice is concentrate from a machine, and coffee the same although Tomas, or one of his staff (Giuseppe or Carmen) will make you fresh.
Lunch for me is the nicest meal. The restaurant isn't that busy, the anti pasta is as always great, aubergines, courgettes, peppers, onions, all feature in many forms, a choice of three hot and two pasta, so you are never ever hungry (unless you're looking for burgers, pizzas, chips.) some people complain about the food but in all honesty, I've been to 3*Michelin restaurants and there is nothing wrong with the food at the BV (or the wine, its a local produced by CIRO, and extremely drinkable, they keep this stuff well away from export because it really is so nice and easy to drink!)
Dessert is a choice of a couple of freshly made gateaux's or fresh fruit.
Rooms are spotlessly clean, bathrooms are the same as previously mentioned.
The cleaning ladies do a magnificent job and always with a smile and a 'buon giorno'
Beach is great, the sea crystal clear, yes there are pebbles so without beach shoes its painful but you soon master it and by the end you aren't even bothering with your shoes. The view and vast openness is amazing. On a good day Stomboli just sits there smouldering in plain view. Fabio watches over the area and ensures that you don't get pestered too much by the massage girls or jewellery sellers.
Towels you get from reception for a 10 euro deposit, changeable when necessary or bring your own.
At the time of year we go, the Borgo del Principe is just wonderful to relax (and we have a 3yr old boy).
You can really recharge here and that's just one of the reasons why we come back.
We look forward to going a 4th time !

To timing of beginning of breakfast, lunch and diner is necessary to ad 15 minutes.
We had red bracelet all iclusive, but sunshades and deck-chairs we had to book
every early morning. Green bracelet was not offered to us.

Room tip: To book rooms next to reception.

We were in Borgo del Principe for the second time and we were fully satisfied again. The garden is still beautiful, well maintained and full of flowers and trees, the sea is clear, sometimes with waves. Rooms are large enough and clean, tidying and changing towels is every day. The meals in restaurant are very tasty, for lunch and dinner you can choose from pasta, fish, meat and a lot of different vegetables. On Fridays is the evening of Calabrian's cuisine with Tartufo like a dessert. The pool and the beach are clean, sun chairs and umbrellas are sufficient and the beach towels was free (with red bracelet). For sport fun there are available minigolf, pingpong, table football, green volley. The sunset over the sea is magical, you can watch it again and again :-). Everything in resort is near and on hand, it's more personal, all staff is very nice, smiling and helpful, so you feel like with family and friends. And people are what makes this resort special and remarkable. They are the heart and soul of this beautiful place. Grazie for great holiday - Mauro, Fabiola, Alessia, Veronica from reception, Tommaso, Elisabetta, Betta, Lucia, Nino, Remo from the restaurant and bar, garden magician Placido, lifeguard Fabio, charwomen and other staff whose names I don't know. And I have to write again - surely we return...

We must appreciate effort of all staff to meet expectation of guests. Cleaning service was very good. Houses and garden are beautiful. In general quiet place.
Food was delicious, I guess, local dishes of Calabria. On the other hand the menu was limited comparing hotels I have visited before, probably due to only around 200 hotel guests. Eating is in Italian style of a few courses. Two main courses are served by cooks and self service for side dishes. Food is often spicy. Someone who loves sea food will enjoy it very much.
I admire the maintenance man working so hard all the time.
An animation team of 8 people is active and communicative but be aware of their language is Italian. A majority of guests are Italians. English language is also little problem for waiters.
I dislike a layout of beach - pool - restaurant - playgrounds - rooms. It is neddless to walk 200 meters every time if you go from your room to restaurant or beach.
Sea is nice but quickly deep. Pure water if not windy. The beach is sandy but there is a strip of plenty of pebbles near sea and as well as in the sea. Some people use shoes to swim. Personally, it was disillusion to walk on pebbles (quite big).
The place is out-of-the-way so you can't expect many shops near the hotel. It's trouble to buy water in bottles but you can deliver drinking water from restaurant and pool bar. By the way plastic cups are very small.
The train station is uphill 1 km. Pizzo is about 20 minutes and Tropea is about 10 minutes in opposit direction.
Regarding WiFi it's 100% available near restaurant and reception. In room we had a proble to register IP address.
All in all it was a nice stay with pros and cons of smaller hotel. I evaluate it as an average value for price comparing other hotels I visited.

My mum and I stayed at this place for 10 days and it met all of our expectations. The resort is more like a little village set in beautiful gardens. Very peaceful. It is like a little heaven on Earth :) Clear blue sea, beautiful beach and clean pool both with sunbeds and umbrellas. We loved to watch breath taking sunsets over the sea.

Excellent room service, delicious food, always fresh and plenty to choose from. And desserts to die for! :)

A big thank you to the boss, Mauro, whom we asked if it was possible to change a room as our didn't have a balcony. As great as Mauro is, he sorted it out and mum and I moved the next morning. He is the best!

But most of all here is a massive thank you to all of the staff who are very friendly and kind, fun to be around and are always ready to help. It was pleasure to meet you all. We will definitely come back.

Mille Grazie!
Lucie & Alena
