“Nice hotel”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The rooms are big, the breakfast is excellent and the personnel is ready to offer complementary services like late check-out on a fair rate. There are plenty of public transportation available, like the bus 80 which is at 20m far from the hotel. There is a shopping area nearby and plenty of good restaurants.

Arrived 9th August for a 3 night stay. My son who works at NATO lives in Brussels, but we prefer to be independent and not stay with him. He advised Gresham Belson and his recommendation proved to be very sound. Room 502 was almost perfect, the big bonus being how quiet it was. The next surprise was breakfast. This surpassed any Continental breakfast that I'd had previously, the worst being in Lisbon where we were greeted with stale bread and cold tea !!
Stupidly on the last morning I left my iphone on the breakfast table, only realising my carelessness as we boarded Eurostar for home. 'Phone calls to the hotel were received sympathetically, but without result.

Room Tip: As already mentioned Room 502 suited us just fine.

Dear Sir,

I’d like to thank you for leaving such a kind review on Tripadvisor.

I must say it is a pleasure to see that guests like yourself truly enjoy our services and are not afraid to share your positive input. We’re very glad you’ve enjoyed our facilities. It is true that we have increased the quality of our breakfast drastically which now means that our current buffet is of top quality.
We really look forward to welcoming you again and we hope your son enjoys a fruitful career at the NATO.

In the case of your telephone, please be so kind as to sending me a short description of your phone on info@gresham-belsonhotel.com.
I will keep this in my drawer in case a good Samaritan decides to turn up with your phone.

Thank you very much and with the kindest regards

If you are on a business trip or for short peaceful stay in brussels, do go for this hotel. Rooms are pretty big for a couple with kids. Nice tv and beds. The breakfast is plentiful of items and one can enjoy a nice one before a hard day of work.
Few good restaurants nearby, especially the corner shop at Pudawa. Try some Belgium specialities with some good local beer.
Direct buses available from the front of the hotel to the city center or grand place. Taxis are also available almost every time. Hotel provides a free airport pickup and drop. If you can convince the respection, you will get a free drop to the workplace as well.
Overall I would recommend stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Look for a room facing towar the road side.

We were put up in this hotel for 2 nights during a short coach trip to Belgium and Holland.
Reading previous (very mixed) reports we were apprehensive but were pleasantly surprised, quick check in , very friendly staff and very clean and comfortable room and bed (view not good but expect that from city hotel).Choice off all you could want for breakfast including full english. Only
fault it was a full 20 mins from centre of Brussels, asked reception how much taxi would cost,
15 euros, beware it was a lot more.!!

We stayed for 2 nights in June 2013, room 428. When I read the reviews I felt that it was the older reviews that were worse than the recent and felt that this indicated a commitment to continually improve. This may have reduced the hotels overall average which didn't reflect the current position. I was not wrong.
The hotel is about 20 minutes by bus to the city centre. It costs €2 if you pay on the bus or €1.5 if bought from a tobacconist. The bus stop is by the hotel.
The hotel reception staff were warm and friendly. You got the feeling they really wanted you to enjoy your stay. The rooms are above average in terms of quality and comfort, but it was a double rather than a king size bed. The bath room was lovely and the whole room was immaculately clean. Breakfast was adequate.
There were reasons we gave this four instead of five stars in our rating. Room maintenance were not on the ball. The bathroom lock was missing but was repaired quickly. The air con did not work and was not repaired which made sleeping more difficult. There was a small leak on the toilet and the bath room toiletries were not much but did the job for a short stay.
The staff were generally very good. However, we could not get decaf coffee at breakfast as the waiter did not understand what we were asking for (it was available in the rooms,) and we had to have our room serviced while we were getting changed as it was a take it now or leave it service.
The breakfast on the second day needs to be mentioned. The hotel was probably full and they could not cope. We waited 20 minutes to be seated and there were 20 in the queue behind us. Most food kept running out and the staff were running round trying to clean and prepare tables while putting more food out. It seemed unfair to expect that few staff to deal with so many people. They did try and do their best in the circumstances. Moving staff from reception to restaurant may have been helpful as I don't think this was a regular occurrence suggesting the need for more staff on a permanent basis.
All that said, we would probably return to this hotel if we came back. Although there were a few minor shortcomings, we found most of the staff wanting to help and there remains a quality feel to the hotel.

Dear,

We'd like to express our utmost gratitude for your comment on tripadvisor and we would like to thank you for taking the time to share you experience.

We are grateful to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel in the beautiful city of Brussels. As you mentioned, our rooms have an impeccable state of cleanliness. Furthermore we like to express our gratitude for the gentle and positive nature of your comments.
We try and make the rooms, as well as all the public areas of the hotel, as comfortable for our guests as possible.

We are situated in a good location right outside the center of Brussels in a nice neighborhood. Despite being in the outskirts of Brussels, access to downtown is very easy with public transportation that is right outside our front door.

Our staff, as you have experienced yourself, is very friendly and always willing to help if any question or concern should arise during your stay. We'd like to apologize for the invonvenience you may have suffored while having to wait for the breakfast. Rest assured this type of situation hardly ever takes place.

Thank you again for your comments, they are very helpful in the continuing management and growth of this hotel. We hope that you will honor us by staying at the Gresham Belson Hotel again upon your next visit to Brussels.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is pretty far from the center but we had a rental car so it was very easy for us. You do have a Carrefour market nearby, some restaurants and public transport.
The room is large and very clean. The double bed was a little small for us as we are used to larger beds (this one seemed like a single person bed) but at least the mattress was comfortable.
You have a minibar in the room but it is not filled. You do have a complimentary water on the first day of your arrival and some coffee, hot chocolate, a little cracker.
The staff is very helpful, they speak very well English and they answered all our questions. The WIFI is free on the entire hotel but i think there is a limit of MB. If you need more MB you can ask at the reception (for some extra money. i guess).
The hotel has parking places (i don't know the prices, on booking.com they say 17Euro/night) but you can also find public parking places nearby.
The breakfast was very good and rich (yoghurts, cereals, pancakes, croissants, ham, cheese, sausages, beans, mushrooms, fresh vegetables, fried bacon, salads, fresh fruits, 3 kind of juices, tea, coffee etc).
We enjoyed our trip in Brussels and would come back here again (but only for a room with a larger bed).

The hotel was ok, clean and cosy. What I hate about it was the bed, to small for 2 persons.
Breackfast very good, with a large variety of meats, cheese, even fresh pancakes.
The neyghbourhood is quiet, lot of houses around and a few restaurants around if you get hungrey.
We had free wifi in the room, but after 2 nights didn't work any more because apparently we overpass the download limit..
