Very cheap compared with the other hotels in Brussels. The rooms are quite good and the bathroom is very big. Not many extras, so the price is very resonable. The breakfast is very good. It is very close to Gare du Midi Station so it is the perfect place if you are planing to travel in the morning or you arrive at night.

Nice hotel close to the Brussels Midi station where the Eurostar trains arrive (literally a few minuets walk). It is right opposite a metro station as well so it is easy to get to anywhere in the city from here.

To be honest when we first arrived, we didn't think that the area was that nice BUT we had no trouble from anyone and came back to hotel quite late at night a couple of times and felt quite safe doing so.

The hotel is made up of several buildings that have been joined together over the years - bit of a maze like some others have described but once you know the route to your lift or stairs to get to your room it is easy.

Our room was quite basic and could have done with a bit of updating but it does seem as though the reception area, lounge area and breakfast room have had quite a lot of money spent on them so I think it is probably in the process of being more done up. That said, the room was ok for size and the bathroom was fine. Our only problem was that we were a bit cold. A chap from reception did try to turn our radiator up but to no avail. I think it was just this one room though as all the public areas of the hotel were really warm.

All of the staff we cam across were really friendly and helpful. Everyone we saw on reception spoke good English.

Breakfast was fine. There were two cold meats, sliced cheese, cereals, several sorts of breads, either croissants or pain au chocolates, yoghurt and various sorts of jams. Despite what has been said in some other reviews, there was no hot food available.

All in all, it was a perfectly adequate hotel and exceedingly convenient for the brilliant public transport system.

We stayed here for our first trip to Brussels. The hotel was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly. However the area was not nice at all. While it only a few minutes walk away from the main station, we had to stop and ask for directions a few times. I didn't like the area and was glad I was with my partner as I didn't really feel safe. I would not recommend the area for females travelling by themselves.

The hotel location is great just a few minutes walk from Midi station and a few minutes walk to the center tourist attraction. Highly recommended. The room is clean and the housekeeping always keep them clean everyday after I'm back from my trip in Belgium. Highly recommended for students and young traveler.

With the name Hotel Ustel we were a bit vary and from the review but to our suprise this turned out a very nice hotel and no it's not a Hostel! The reception staff were very friendly and provided us the main locations to see with a map and guided us on the routes to take through the metro. Breakfast was included from 7-10.30. Strict on timing so advisable to get there before breakfast closes. However good was ok - continental but fresh bread provided and eggs. The deco of the hotel was very nice and modern as well as the dining area. Our rooms were nice, had a similar feel to a bedroom an showers were clean. Soap and showergel were provided with a good hair dryer. One downfall that a kettle was not provided however we really didnt need it. This hotel
is two stops from Brussels main square so ideal also 5 min walk to gare du midi main station where we came from Eurostar, which was great. At night area seemed a bit dodgy but we had no problems at all (4 girls) Advisable to be cautious however. On Sunday we found out about a good market just outside which was a plus point! Overall I would give a 4/5 for this hotel. It says what it is and lives up to it.

I stayed for two nights with my husband just before Christmas, having booked a deal with Eurostar (before reading the reviews on this site!). Having then clicked on TripAdvisor just out of curiosity we became anxious as to the type of hotel we had booked, and emailed the hotel itself to request an upgraded room (an increased of approx. 20 euros per night).
Our reception at the hotel was friendly and helpful, and we were directed to building 4. The lift was new and efficient and the room was spotless with a large, clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The hotel was fairly quiet throughout our stay, and breakfast on both days was fresh and varied with a good choice of pastries, cold meats, eggs and coffee.
The area around the hotel was a little seedy, and I was glad not to be alone when we returned later in the evenings, but all in all this was a bargain and we had a great trip.
