“Gluten Free friendly and a great find in Brussels”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Just a couple blocks from Midi Station, this B & B is truly an extraordinary place. All of the complimentary reviews are correct. The accommodations are spotless, spacious, and gracious. The entire building has been lovingly restored with great taste. We stayed in the suite on the first floor. When we walked through the door I'm sure I issued a sigh of contentment and relief. The bathroom is HUGE and modern, the beds were comfy, the living room area felt like a home away from home. Delphine and Cyril were very kind and helpful. It's true you are not near the Grand Place but Midi offers a lot of options for public transportation and a taxi is only approx 10-15 Euro to Grand Place (make sure the cabbie turns on his meter - we got ripped off our first cab ride in Brussels). I had alerted Delphine that I am gluten intolerant and she very kindly provided some gf breakfast options for me. This is a fantastic place!

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs ask for the first floor room.

Stayed at Les Habitats Nomades run by Delphine and Cyril for 2 nights in early May and it was the perfect space to relax and enjoy the delights of Brussels after a long flight from Asia. Offering 3 rooms in a stunning older building which the couple have renovated to a high standard in keeping with the style but with all mod cons installed. Selected the art deco suite on the first floor (although Delphine had warned me that the building exterior was being re-done during our stay, so there was scaffolding, netting and a little dust - didn't matter as we were out all day while work was going on) which had a large bedroom (can be configured as twin beds or queen size) and a living room plus a huge bathroom with shower, large bath, 2 sinks and a separate toilet. High ceilings and windows to the front looked out over the street and to the rear overlooking the back area and other buildings. It was very comfortable and relaxing as Delphine and Cyril made us feel very welcome, like friends invited to stay in their home. The big blue front door is equipped with the latest automatic locking device making it very secure and the fact the exterior is being renovated indicates the love and attention to detail that the couple are putting into giving this beautiful townhouse in a multi-cultural area back to life. It is warm and friendly despite the grand proportions (very high ceilings and large rooms) - nothing precious about the décor and you felt right at home. We had excellent and very filling continental breakfasts each morning (included in the price) which we ate at a large table in the dining room next to a completely modernised kitchen which can be used by guests any time. At breakfast on our first day we chatted to a Parisian couple who told us about the Magritte art museum and that ended up being a highlight of our visit so it was a wonderful and very warm welcome to Brussels! Didn't have time to see the Royal greenhouses which are only open to the public for 3 weeks each year, next time...Just wish there had been a 'Les Habitats Nomades' in every city we visited as Delphine made us feel like friends coming to stay with her and Cyril plus it was good value for money! Looking forward to my next visit and a stay in the Hollywood themed room...

Room Tip: First floor suite suitable has a bedroom, living room and huge bathroom with 2 sinks, bath and show...

I've stayed here many times on business and leisure. You'd never know it was there, hidden 3 or 4 minutes walk from Midi station, in what seems like an unlikely street for such a gem. When you step through the large unassuming double doors you're in a large tastefully restored townhouse. Cyril and Delphine have created individually decorated rooms with plenty of art deco touches. Some of the rooms are art deco suites.
Breakfast is continental style at a communal table - good coffee, good croissant, fruit, yoghurt and good conversation.
If you're after a regular business-hotel-shoebox-minibar-bland you're in the wrong place. If you want a one-off that's spacious, original, quiet, comfortable and great value for money, this is a good choice.
Cyril and Delphine are very welcoming and hospitable.
I have nothing but good experiences staying here over 5 years.

Room Tip: I've stayed in all the rooms. They're all different; all interesting and all good sleepers
