We have just returned from a week at the Milano and it was just the most fabulous place to be, we were fortunate in having a cracking room that fully overlooked the lake from its balcony and it was the stuff of dreamy adverts to see. It was our first time to Lake Garda and if you haven't been, or crave something cleaner, more stunning and different from scorched Spanish earth then try it out, you won't be disappointed. It's clean, spotlessly clean, well staffed and the shaded areas around the immaculate pool were fabulous.

We met the brothers that seem to run the show and to be honest found them both fine, polite and helpful, although it has Italian men do have different styles of body language and gestures to us English. This we found this out from a completely arrogant baboon of a bus driver, my recommendation is that in the event of a debate, take no prisoners and give back as good as you get, we found a good deal of our english expletives need no translation! We still, without reason got dumped miles from the place we wanted to be but I felt so much better about it.

The Maitre De is named Dionigi and he is a superstar! His English is first rate and his attention to all of his clients was absolutely first class. His sense of humor was good and his outstanding knowledge of the area was gratefully received. If you read this Dionigi a big thank you and the girls that make your team for ensuring our stay was so good and we wish you all good luck in life.

Try this place out, use the ferries and explore because when it comes to a perfect location, near the port, in a village, this place takes some beating.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

Just returned from a 7 night stay, rooms were not as seen on the Thomsons/Crystal Lakes web site, these show the superior rooms only, the website did not explain that only the superior rooms are shown, the rooms shown have carpets and are at the front of the Hotel, our room was on the back overlooking the other hotel's garden, no carpet, dull looking bed covers. I had spilled suncream on the laminate floor in the room and cleaned up with some tissue, the tissue was very dirty, so the floor had not been mopped. The two owners are brothers, one fairly freindly and helpful, the other is damn right rude and does not give a monkey's about the guests, as in previous reviews the Maitre de is the one who should be running the show, his customer service skills are excellent and his staff were helpful & friendly. Food mediocre! Trips booked through agent are not good value for money, most of the places are within reach at a fraction of the cost. The resort is quiet, but in a beautiful setting, very near to the ferry port.

Room Tip: Check with booking agent which room you would be getting included in your price.

Just returned from a three night stay. Very nice clean hotel run by friendly owners and staff. If you are looking for a 'village' feel then this is a must. Cannot fault the hotel but do not assume that you will get one of the rooms shown on the internal / external photos. This is of course subject to how much you pay. My wife and I booked a lower cost deal and got a budget room, still very modern and clean but no balcony, limited views etc. If you are looking for the 'photo' rooms you need to get rooms 305 or 308 etc - the ones shown! This will or course be reflected in the cost you pay. Pool and location great but local restaurants are a bit limited for choice. I would definitely stop again but I would ensure I booked one of the better rooms. Hope this helps.

Room Tip: Tip - try to book rooms 305, 308 etc. On your way back to the airport try to stop off at Peschiera del Garda - we loved it.

We enjoyed a balcony overlooking the lake. The rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A complete breakfast is included in the cost of the stay and could be enjoyed in their spacious dining room or poolside. Just steps from the water ferry. Quiet and safe location.

My husband and I stayed here for a week 15th - 22nd July 2011, travelling with Thomson Holidays. We had upgraded our room to a superior lakeside view. Our room was compact and minimalist and had a sleek shower room. It was in the extended part of the hotel. The rooms in the older part have much prettier balconies but are a little tired (we had a quick peek) but I would have happily stayed in one of these rooms as they were bigger. We were there half board and the food was delicious and Dionaggio (I think) the head waiter was a joy. He was welcoming and friendly and spoke excellent English and German. The brothers who run the hotel seemed ok to us, always very well dressed and service was good. We would have breakfast by the pool. The hotel is very pretty and has a lovely feel to it: calming and relaxing. We thought the pool and surrounding areas were lovely, comfy sunbeds with thick cushions. Definitely a relaxing week. Maderno itself is quite quiet with few hotels or restaurants. 2 fantastic gelaterias but not a lot going on. Torre is a pretty town on the other side of the lake and well worth a visit.
