Hotel Sorriso has the feel of a slightly tired package deal hotel. There is nothing particularly bad about it. The rooms are clean and reasonably sized and the staff try hard to please. It is also fairly priced for what it is. It may just have been that so many other places we stayed in Italy were standouts, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we were missing out on something by saying there.
The hotel is a fair way from the lake, which is the main attraction in town. The rooms are not air conditioned, which was a problem when we stayed as it was stiflingly hot. The owner is also a fairly unusual sort of a man. There was more than a touch of the Italian Basil Fawltys about him. He stopped my 10 year old daughter from using the lift by herself and later insisted that we try him homemade jams.
If you want the basics and no more, this may be your place. I frankly would prefer to pay a little more and stay somewhere with a bit more polish.
