“Don't stay in a heat wave”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

What can I say?Great value for money, very basic ,but clean rooms, clean bathroom.Close to Metro station, 15mins into Paris central. No free toiletries,no room to swing a cat (even a small one),Paris on a budget, not wanting a "hotel experience" (& no expectation of North American rooms...great).
The downside. I stayed during a heat wave, not unexpected in September. The air-con/heat had been switched to heat only & it was all too difficult to switch it back (customer comfort being of low priority).Advice from the Receptionist ..."open the window".Great, being on the fourth floor we were free from insurgents but not fron the noise of traffic(human & cars).
I'd have given a five star,clean,comfortable.....but too difficult to switch on the air cooling system? It ruined our stay in Paris.
As regards the star system,I'd give a five star on cleanliness, value, location & rooms, but no stars on sleep quality.
Would I reccomend you? No.

Room Tip: Check the weather forcast. If it's due to be hot,try camping instead.

This hotel is bare bones basic - but perfect for the price! Even though it looks far from everything on a map, the fact that it's less than a 2 min walk to the metro makes it close to everything. The metro is so cheap in Paris (>2 Euro), it's nothing to hop on and off all day. We saw all the major sites in Paris in less than 3 days.

The hotel staff here are helpful and accommodating. We added another traveler last minute and they worked out room changes for us with a smile even though the hotel was almost at capacity. I would definitely stay here again on a trip back to Paris.

*If you do stay here, make sure to check out the market in Malakoff in the morning. We had breakfast there every day. The French have such better produce than anything I've ever seen in America (butter croissants and fresh berries - yum!).

This hotel was recently renovated ! The lobby area is very modern. The rooms are really small and not so modern, pretty plain and simple. Overall, hotel is clean. The metro station is very close from this hotel about a 5 minutes walk.

Pros: Good continental breakfast, many choices with very fresh bread and delicious hot chocolate, hot items available too, close to the metro (5min), comfortable bed, and free wifi.

Cons: very far from any tourist attractions, situated in a small village where everything closes very early at night, very small rooms (did not have any place to put luggage, bed took up entire room with only a foot on either side), none smoking room smelled like smoke the entire stay even though the window had been opened, all the halls in the hotel smelled like smoke, bathroom was very cramped with a very small shower.

We stayed in the Hotel Malakoff for a couple of days in April while visiting Paris. It's very far from the city center, but a 30 minute ride from the metro, which is close to the hotel. The hotel lobby is clean and modernly decorated. The staff do speak English, though it's polite to ask if they do before assuming so. There is "free wifi" but you do need log-in information and if a large group is trying to log on, you might have some trouble. Breakfast was pretty good. Hot items, decent croisant, fancy coffee/hot chocolate maker... This was my favorite breakfast on our tour.

The rooms are small, but remember, it is Europe. The bathroom was clean and small, but the shower was terrible. The water wouldn't drain properly and was ankle deep at the end of the shower. The bed was not sleeping on a cloud, but it was good. The walls are thin so I heard a lot of door slamming and chatter in the hallways. It was probably my students so I apologize if anyone woke up because of our group.

Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again by choice, but it was a decent stay.

Room Tip: Avoid hallways where large groups are staying!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights while we were in Paris. The room was clean and a few minutes walk to the Metro. The breakfast included eggs, bacon, an assortment of breads, cereals, and other cold items. It was a reasonable price for what we received and it was convenient since there are not a lot of restaurants near this hotel. There was also a microwave available for use all day long and vending machines in the lobby which had sandwiches and an assortment of drinks.

One problem we had during our stay was that the air conditioning was not working when we arrived. We informed the front desk. They told us they were aware of it and someone was in to fix it the next day. We did have to sleep without it the first night. The next day when we turned it on it was working but it was bringing some type of allergen into the room, so we had to turn it off again and sleep with the window open. The room is very quiet with the window closed, but there was a lot of street noise with the window open, making it difficult to sleep.

Another problem was that the shower is very small and I found myself bumping my elbow into the soap dispenser and against the wall.

We were surprised to discover that there was no clock and no phone in our room. Having no clock in the room seemed to be a standard throughout the B and B chain, so if you need to wake up, bring a travel alarm with you. I believe that some rooms did come with phones if you paid an additional fee for those rooms.

Also if you are coming from North America and are used to using wash cloths, they did not have them at this hotel, so you would need to provide your own wash cloth.

Overall, I would probably stay at this hotel again since the price was very reasonable for both the hotel and the breakfast buffet, but only if it wasn't during a time of year when air conditioning is needed.

To start with I was given a pass code to enter the room. Went inside and there was some one already there. It was too embarasing. Came down was given a new room thankfully this time there was no one there. Room was decent and well cooled, so no complaint about the room at all. Again in evening went to the reception and asked for some info about the places in paris. The reception hardly cared and just handed a map to look around . Next day went to the recetion again and wanted some info about the music fest haappeing in paris and the guy again showed me a blank face , he even didnt knew the timing of trains for the special day.

We kept do not disturb sign on the door after a long night party but the house keeping kept on knocking until my fiance woke up and said noooooooo.

Enogh of bad but must say breakfast was worth the money and staff like agnishka at reception were amazing. I believe she was amazing everytime . I felt bad disturbing her but she was the only one who acctually showed some concern. i stayed there for 3 nights from 20th june until 23rd june 2013.
I come from a hotel industry and work as a corporate sales coordinator for a chain of 5star hotels. For us service is priority and the only reason we booked in this hotel was because our friend from india were to stay there and we wanted to spend some time with them.
Its an amazing hotel to stay with good and safe location but you guys need to focus more on ur service. If thats rectified then it could be an amazing place to stay. In all a decent stay.
