“Amazing chilli crab”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

Woukd strongly recommend it for the chilli crab lovers. I will definitely go back for it. As for the decor of the restaurant it is average and service is also average. Great place for malaysian dishes.

“Gone downhill”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2014

We have been eating here for years, but the quality and quantity of the food leaves a lot to be desired now. A few days ago my partner ordered 6 beef and chicken satay sticks. The sticks were thicker than the meat! We complained to the waiter, but he was totally indifferent to us. The Sarawak laksa is always good, but only available weekends. Don't think we will be returning any time soon.

“great Singaporean /Malaysian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2014

I was taken here by a Malaysian friend who told me about the Singapore Crab and the Fish Head soup. I have been there twice and the experience has been pretty consistent. The place is bland with driving school flyers inserted in between the plastic cover and the tablecloth. The menu is frayed at the edges and the service is friendly but not that attentive . But the food is great - and on a par with food I've had in Singapore and in Temasek (in Parramatta) - the turnip cake, the ginger chicken, the soy oodles, the oatmeal prawns are all memorable. Some items (e.g. crab) are pricey but most are very well priced. Beware- the portions are huge, the alcohol selection is limited yo three types of beer (and of these the Pineapple beer is not really beer). Best to book at busy times and if you want crab. worth the visit and I think you'll be back for more.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Went there for lunch today. Ordered chicken rice, chat keow tuay and combo keow tuay. The keow tuay was ok. The chicken rice was horrible. The chicken was definitely left over and was heated up in the microwave oven. Part of the chicken pieces was hard and dark brown in colour which showed that it has been reheated. They tried to covered it up by pouring lots of sauce over the chicken.

This is what happen when Henry the owner spend most of his time at his new restaurant. Have been the customer since they opened and their standard has definitely gone down. Will be giving this place a miss.

“Quick & Cheap or lahdi da”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

Quick and cheap - rice and three dishes. The three dishes change but a good variety of Malaysian-style vegetable (okra, long beans, bitter gourd) meat (pork, chicken, beef) and fish ( crisply fried fish, fish-heads). Generally the dishes are heaped on - though they tend to be less generous with the beef-rendang. Remember to ask for some laksa or rendang gravy on the rice... For $7.90 pretty good (a little more if you opt for 3-meat dishes)

The chilli-crab gets a big tick from the family (Malaysian-born) - certainly there was nothing left at the end. I don't do crab - too damned messy BUT the sauce was excellent and the crunching and sucking around the table indicated that the ex-pat Malaysians were impressed.

Char kway teow is pretty good - not too wet not too dry.

The price is reasonable, the food is great and if you think of it as a hawker stall the service and decor is okay.
