Can't say if the food is traditional Singaporean, although I have to Singapore on a few occasions. I do not consider myself a good judge of authenticity. I can however recommend the food as being both fresh and tasty and not expensive.

The decor and setting leaves much to be desired, but one does not go there for a three hat meal. I do however take my hat off the the kitchen staff. We have eaten there a few times in the past few weeks and every meal has been enjoyable. If there is any criticism, it would be that the portion sizes are a bit on the generous side. For a meal on the run, you can not beat this restaurant.

We've been a number of times recently and every time - every dish has been good, If you love hot Asian food this is the place you’ll find above average quality traditional Singapore and Malaysian food. Chilli Crab is the best I’ve had outside Singapore and half the price per kg of some CBD Crab houses. Make a booking if you have a big group cause this place packs out nightly.

We discovered this little gem thanks to a family recommendation. Perched on the perimter of the Kingsford roundabout you need to find parking nearby and walk in. Suggest using the parking bays opposite Souths Juniors on Anzac Parade only a short amble away.

We ordered a cross section of menu samples most of which were spicily hot and traditionally flavoured. The chicken satays were tender and used lean meat in a traditional, well flavoured satay sause. We have long enjoyed the asian greens and the sambal belacan kangkung and the sambal green bean dishes did not disappoint, well steamed, hot and spicey. Not to underdo the sambal experience we also ordered the sambal prawns, unfortuntatealy we would have liked a few more prawns to share, here lack of this critical ingredient disappointed. The baby squid special was an unusual experience, cooked to crunchy consistency with a honey sweet sauce and whole dried chillis for added heat.

Undoubtedly though the chilli crab was the standout experience amongst a wide range of crab offerings (including a black pepper and a Marmite (?) alternative). The chilli sauce was rich, red, slightly sour and full of the cooked crab meat tailings that added a great depth. After gorging on the cracked limb meat we needed the fried buns and some steamed rice to soak up the remaining sauce.

The service was efficient and helpful. Our waitress recognised that diners like insight and suggested specials and additions that aided to our enjoyment of the meal. The dishes arrived quickly although it is probably a good idea to ensure that the finger bowl is also a mandatory addition with the crab tools.

The restaurant decor is chintzy and dated but that added to the authenticity. It is BYO which allows you to bring your favourite tipple without an uneeded overhead. We took some good NZ whites and cool ales, the diners at the table nearby were heartily gulping bottles of premium red. It is a noisy, friendly environment conducive to making a mess, so to fully indulge make sure you pack the Wet Ones !

Sinma is situated on the huge roundabout in Kingsford. The laksas and butter prawns are very good. There are lots of Indonesian and Singapore dishes to choose from, satay lamb and chicken is very popular. Order kang kung, a tasty vegetable dish that is great. $35 a couple and it is BYO.

An extensive menu including good hawker style dishes. A family favorite, we like to go about once a month and look forward to mouth watering roti and chicken curry. The sambal okra is very special as is the fish head curry and the turnip cake
