Description: El Topo has built a reputation as one of Sydney's most loved and talked about Mexican restaurant and rooftop bars. The moment you step into El Topo, it's like stepping in to Oaxaca, Mexico. Head Chef Atick Elahi's modern interpretation of Oaxacan cuisine combines authentic flavours of tamarind, guajillo chillies, avocado leaf, jicama and cactus with modernised methods and local ingredients. The menu provides a variety of options for vegetarians those that are gluten intolerant. It also features earthy Mexican staples and home made produce. The El Topo beverage menu features close to 100 Mexican white spirits including five sotols, 20 mezcals and close to 70 tequilas. To create its world-class cocktails, the bar sources rare and authentic Mexican ingredients, while the wine list features varietals from Spain, South America and Australia that are suited to this popular style of cuisine. A trip to El Topo is an essential Mexican experience that is sure to spice up your life!

We went to el Topo following recommendations in Tripadvisor. Nice restaurant, nice atmosphere, original decoration, outstanding service. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We were three persons and ordered three entrees and one main to share. The corn was to die for, quesadillas were just correct, very good nachos and nice, tender and enormous rib! Desserts were also very nice and rich! Margaritas were delicious. Definitely will go back to try other dishes in the menu!

I've been meaning to go here for a while and i'm glad i finally did. We were told on arrival the wait for a table would be at least half an hour, it gets popular! No problem, we would have a drink at the bar, less than 5 minutes later we were seated and eating amongst the better Mexican offerings in Sydney, We found the vegitarian dishes superior to the seafood and carne, especially the maize. And the tequilla's, an unbelievable selection of delicious bespoke variety's to suit all budgets and aficionado's. Service excellent, a must visit. Reservations only for tables of 4 or more.

This place is an absolute gem! My friend and I first tried this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and we've been back three times already and couldn't get enough of it. From food to decor to staff, this restaurant just blew me away.

The food's amazing - tasty, rich, filling - I am salivating just thinking about them. Try the Camarones En Chile Chipotle (Chargilled Prawns with Chipotle sauce), Chorizo Con Huevo Y Papa Jalapeno (Chorizo with slow cooked eggs, potato and jalapeno) and if you're hungy try the 12 hour beef short ribs and you won't have to eat for two days. And please don't leave without trying the Maiz Carbonizado but beware, it is addictive --don't blame me if you get obsessed with it like I am now. And for those of you who love concluding their meals with something sweet - order the Flan (Smashed flan with coconut, mexican chocolate hazelnut and goats milk caramel).

The place has a real great vibe; the colourful decor and the friendly staff capped it all up for me, making El Topo one of the few restaurants this side of the planet I intend to visit over and over again.
