“Tent-campers should steer clear”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

The tiny area to which tent-campers are relegated, apparently as an afterthought, is cheek-by-jowl with the park's messy, noisy maintenance workshops---most unappealing.

And the hard stony ground is hostile to tentpegs. The so-called tent area should never have been so designated. Which NSW government department is supposed to invigilate such enterprises?

I could go on . . .

Avoid if you can, but there are only a few caravan parks in Sydney. I do not know how this one keeps its rating with Top Tourist parks. We arrived and set-up on a tiny powered en-suite site (very difficult to maneuver on), with a view of the rubbish bins. Upon visiting the en-suite facilities - which are dark and damp, dank, the first flush resulted in a fountain of water coming form the toilet and sewerage running across the floor into the shower. We walked to the office and the maintenance man arrived shortly after. Apparently this toilet had been blocked previously - apparently tree roots. Toilet was plunged and we proceeded after I cleaned the floor, but toilet made horrible sounds and had unpleasant smells after each flush. in addition there are no fans and no insect screens and open windows (glass covers 2/3rds of windows) and lots of mosquitoes biting me in the shower, and spiders, etc... are in en-suite and spiders on our towels in the morning. The park is dark and no lights around ensuite site with steps and it was hazardous. Tripping in the dark was a hazard. The next morning the cleaners kindly cleaned the floor (did a good job), and shorty after the toilet blocked up and we had a fountain of water, part of the toilet popped off and river of sewerage at my feet and into the shower again. We were offered a new site by a helpful staff member, and we moved - 4 hours out of our day, and we had to shorten a visit with family to get back before dark to relocate. Unfortunately it was raining heavily, and water and dirt and rubbish was running into our new site en-suite and into the shower. (there is a large gap under each door). I cleaned up the dirt and rubbish in the shower, and we showered, only to run out of hot water. For the next 3 days we ran out of hot water and didn't say anything, but on the 4th day we spoke to front counter staff. Unfortunately this was an unhelpful staff member (previously the staff were helpful and understood that we could not live with sewerage in our en-suite!), and the staff member pretty much didn't care about the hot water. We were asked if our showers were longer than 15 minutes.... and it was inferred it was our fault that we had cold, luke warm water in the shower. We asked for the maintenance staff to see what the problem was, and were told that it was instant hot water and there was nothing wrong with it. I requested that it be looked at. Here I am waiting for the maintenance,,and waiting... and writing this review.
The park is stuck in the 70's with old plumbing (toilets in the main facilities were ALSO BLOCKED), run-down and neglected. Sites are really tiny, and cars get parked anywhere they can - partly on road, which can block vehicles. The residents seem friendly - lots of permanents, and games room is poorly equipped, and poorly maintained. One staff member was very helpful, and offered to call in a cleaner on first Friday night to disinfect the floor after the sewerage. It was going to cost the park, so i decided to clean it myself. The park is generally quiet. We have asked to leave 1 day early - and for a credit for the 1 day. We have been quite unhappy here. i am waiting for the manager to ring me for confirmation.
We hope never to stay here again, and will try another Sydney caravan park. There are not many...

Room Tip: Ask for an en-suite site that is not in the block of four together (incl 11 and 12) as the sites are...

i stayed here for a cheaper alternative for a long stay for work. staff we're friendly and helpful. there is a gym right across the road or better yet a personal trainer onsite at the park. the pub next door is a bit feral but most of the time people stick to themselves. i probably wouldn't book a holiday here.

Room Tip: if you get a choice try and get a van/room/site away from the front road as there are a lot of truck...

Camped a night at a powered tent site and found the place not too bad for a stopover. The reception area looks cosy but the receptionist could learn to smile a bit more (this seems to be a problem in a lot of places, and not just this place in particular). Quite a big, old but very well kept caravan park with only a small strip of slightly sloping land allocated for pitching tents. Each site however, is reasonably spacious and next to a well-equipped camp kitchen with fridge, kettle, microwave, TV, hot water and about the shiniest, cleanest BBQ we’ve ever seen in any caravan park. The amenities block is a distance away next to the slabbed sites, but since you only need a shower a couple of times a day, that shouldn’t be a problem as the camp kitchen also comes with 2 very clean toilets attached. The park doesn’t have a nice view of anything and there isn’t much to do around the area. There is however, a big shopping centre at Castle Hill, about 15 minutes drive away. We would only recommend this caravan park as a short stopover.

We stayed in May and found the reception unwelcoming, the cabin quite out dated with very old noisy air con unit (the only heating so had to have it on constantly) and an old analog tv (with the analog stations being closed two days after we left). The kids triple bunk beds weren't made and were terrible to make being so close together. There is a games room with a computer and an air hockey table which when we asked was out of order. The tennis court was out of action and had been for some time and a unheated pool. Other than a small playground there wasn't much for the kids to do. A bit disappointed!

The reception is cold and unwelcoming. Tents are squashed together in a tiny strip of sloping grass without any shade opposite the garages/maintenance sheds and a noisy generator. The shower block is a 150m walk up the hill to the block which is quite antiquated. The location is a long distance from anywhere, with only the petrol station next door for general provisions. You have to drive at least 20 minutes to a cafe or shops.
