“Could not ask for a more beautiful setting”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

My husband stayed here for a month; I joined him for the last 10 days. He was in Room 26 on the 2nd floor in the back. We were in Room 23 directly below. The rooms were spacious with very high ceilings (15 ft?). The bed comfortable with puffy pillows. Nice sitting area with a couch, table, and 2 chairs. When we opened the large windows and the double entrance doors, we had a wonderful cross breeze that cooled the room down in the evenings for sleeping. Wi-fi was good.

Radiant heat in the bathroom was a nice touch along with the claw foot bathtub. However, in Room 23, I don't think anyone had used the tub in a while and the water was a bit discoloured when we ran it. We had no trouble with getting hot water or with water pressure at all.

The courtyard was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sunshine, especially sitting by the small pool listening to the water. In the evening, the scent of jasmine filled the air. It was intoxicating!

A nice breakfast was served in the Winter Garden each morning. Cold meats, cheese, eggs, breads, fruit, yogurt, cakes, juice, etc. Service was wonderful - always with a smile!

As mentioned, this is quite far away from downtown Buenos Aries. Nice colonial neighbourhood. The local craft market was charming.

My husband and I stayed in one of the interior rooms (#4), right off the main room. We did not have problems with noise however the building seems pretty empty. We enjoyed the local craft market and strolling through town. There was only one thing that irritated me - the water pressure / temperature during the afternoon. You have to turn the faucet on a bit and then walk away for 5 minutes while the pressure builds. This was particularly annoying when I wanted to wash my hands. It seemed fine in the morning, presumably when many folks were showering.

Everything is functional for a business traveler. The building is gorgeous. Spacious rooms that are quiet BUT ENSURE you book a room away form the main lobby area where guests walk through to get to their rooms. Insist in advance to book "in the back" or don't book. The included breakfast includes eggs cooked your way. The pool is cute. The place is just charming. The beds comfortable, etc. Good wifi.

Overall I would gladly stay here again right across from the cathedral far from downtown BA - so be aware.

This hotel is well off the main part of BA in the northern suburbs. It is an old house with a couple of annexes.
I stayed two nights - the place looks nice in general. However a few things make this a strange experience. In check in, without asking the staff charged all nights accommodation full change without asking. This seems pretty strange, They would not reverse this on complaining.

I had room 24 (in BA winter). This ground floor room is pretty dark and had quite some odour of mustiness or damp. The room was cold - the only heater from a struggling AC unit which was very noisy and past its best.

I guess the main challenge is the street noise - until 11pm and from 5am there is an annoying level of noise from the large road directly behind the rooms. This is makes this a no-go in my opinion

Room Tip: avoid rooms with high auto and street noise including 24

This place is fantastic. We've stayed in many hotels in the BA area and this is by far the best we have found, and we will definitely be coming again.

The hotel is simply lovely- its an old mansion converted into a hotel, beautifully appointed with antiques that reflect the golden age of Argentina. The decoration and furnishings maintain the historic integrity of the hotel--and the interior matches perfectly with the stately, historic exterior and it is exactly what you would expect...think claw foot bathtubs, marble topped side tables, chandeliers, golden framed paintings. The beds are very comfortable -- plush, quality bedding, and make for an excellent nights sleep. The garden and outdoor areas are equally perfect.

The service is also fantastic. The front desk was very kind and accommodating when my husband asked for a late check out so that we would have somewhere to stay until our flight leaves later this evening. They offer massages downstairs for 200 pesos for 1 hr, and it was very nice.

The only very minor criticism i would make of the place is that if your room is off of the inside courtyard, you are able to hear everything/anything that is going on in the courtyard. We were woken one morning by a family hanging out--luckily they didn't stay for long and we all fell back to sleep. At night, the front desk shuts off the lights in the courtyard (i think to prevent people from lingering there).

If you are going to be in San Isidro for only a few nights, make sure you don't miss a Sunday--that is really when this little town comes alive!!! There is a cute artisinal fair in the plaza across from the cathedral (which is also very nice),and if you take the train one stop in the direction to the right (your back would be to the plaza--sorry i dont know the name of the stop!) there is a lovely antiques/flea market that is wonderful to peruse--they have some very nice things if you take the time to look! You can also walk to the antique market by taking the walkway to the right to the next station, its actually quite a nice walk--maybe about 20 minutes.

Overall this place is excellent and you shouldn't miss it if you are in the BA area!!!

Lovely hotel. Rooms in backyard beautifull , spacious. Good bed. The hotel does not have resaurant , you can ask for food to the room and they bring it from a nearby restaurant. Pity because it has a nice breakfast buffet .
There was no hair dryer in bathroom , I requested one and the staff gave one very soon.

Room Tip: Request a room in the back facing the yard.

What a great option to the chain hotels. Located in beautiful San Isidro it was the perfect solution for my business stay. Within walking distance to many nice restaurants and shops, the neighborhood has a very colonial feel, with many old buildings, cobblestone streets, etc. It is a true oasis. The staff and service were great, and the rooms were absolutely beautiful. I stayed in the building in the back of the main house (#22) and it was perfect. Very high ceilings, wood floors, huge bathroom with stand-alone shower and tub, and extremely clean and quiet. They only serve a continental-style breakfast, but it is very good. Other meals can be ordered from the room service menu, which I assume are provided by a nearby restaurant. Only thing I would add is more updated exercise equipment, although they do offer a massage service, which is nice. It will always be my first choice when staying and working in Buenos Aires.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the building in the back of the main house.
