“Full of character”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

Friends had been wanting to visit this place for a while but not knowing much Spanish they wanted some moral support, so six of us went at lunchtime. Lots of tables outside but the breeze was a litle chilly so opted for inside. Offered a couple of tables and elected for a large table on its own in an almost private dining room which was full of character, ceiling beams etc. It reminded me of the inside of an old bodega although the building isn't that old.Waiters very attentive and full of recommendations. A huge salad arrived to keep us going whilst our choices were being prepared. The mains were lamb chops, ribs, chicken etc and were very good. Whilst there a trio of musicians arrived,a lady singer and two guitarists who were fantastic. They had their repertoire in a brochure and you chose what you wanted them to play.It seems they play there each Friday and Saturday lunchtime. Absolutely first class and paid for by the restaurant A really first class experience and worth a revisit.

“Distinctly Cold all round!”
Reviewed March 13, 2014 via mobile

First day in El Campello & a good traditional Paella was in order!
Order we did, the atmosphere was good and consider the weather was chilly it was packed inside and out. The waiter was attentive and asked if we would like a salad to start as the "Paella was cooked Fresh!" The salad was no better than a mixed salad that you would get with a main meal in a pizza restaurant in the UK, but would suffice whilst we waited for the main. The Paella arrived in the time but unfortunately went cold within 5-10 mins of arriving. I'm sure it would of tasted nice if it was hot but was spoilt the fact it wasn't.

“Good quality pleasant location”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

I have visited this unpretentious seafront restaurant numerous times and never once was I disappointed.
There is a small covered area immediately in front of the bar and across the small promenade, almost on the beach, there are many more tables.
The waiters are professional yet friendly and I noticed that they can help with your choice from the menu in quite a few languages.
The menu is varied but predominantly Spanish. They will tell you what is the best fish of the day and in my experience it has always been so fresh. The salads are huge and my particular favourite is fruit with lettuce, tuna, olives etc.
The T-bone steak comes sizzling on a hot stone and is excellent quality.
There are many seafront restaurants to choose from in Campello but La Fonda is definitely worth the walk to the Marina end of the promenade for tapas or for a lovely meal.
PS. The alioli is to die for!
